I was driving normally when the car suddenly lost power, as if it shifted into neutral. It won’t move forward or reverse, and the engine only revs.

Unfortunately not much we can do over the internet - it will likely need towed, and a shop to do a diagnostic. If you tow it to your place and you have a code scanner, let’s start there. Also a good examination under the car for leakage and/or broken pieces that may also be a clue.

Unfortunately jeep transmissions, especially from this era aren't known for being reliable or well built.
I suggest doing exactly what the person above said.

It turns out that the transmission had serious damage due to not changing the transmission fluid and it will need to be replaced.
