Btw never showed low oil pressure before

Good news bad news. Good news - if you shut it off right away, you did the right thing and likely prevented any real damage. Bad news, making sure you had proper amount of oil in the engine was about the only thing that is something you could DIY. A shop can do a mechanical oil pressure test and go from there.
