Hi guys! I recently bought a bmw x1 2021 (like 1 month ago) and so the Carfax report tells me that the last oil change was done at 50k kms in 2023. However, the car when i bought it came with an inspection report that said everything is fine. This inspection was done at 94k kms. My car is currently at 95k kms. There is no engine or oil change light when i start up the engine (its there only when the engine is not started - is that normal?)

Do i get the oil changed anyway? Is there a way to inspect? I think someone just forgot to update carfax down the road and it was prolly changed?
What do u guys say?

Whatever inspection is done at a dealer selling a car is pretty much for entertainment purposes only haha. Check in the owners manual (download if you don’t have the paper copy in the glove box) and see if the menus have an oil change indicator, that may tell you a % of oil life left until next change is due. If not, since there is no records between 50k and 95k, assume it needs done and do it. If you’re at all inclined to DIY, an oil change is a great project to start with.

As airz says... change it and be certain of where you stand.
