Take a look through this website. It should tell you everything you need to know, including the equipment and products you should buy
Broadly speaking, the best cleaning products are the ones you use. Putting in the work is what actually does the trick! Follow the instructions in that link above and put a little time and elbow grease in, you won’t need lots of money. Good luck!
@bronze sky I do professional detailing, and would recommend ArmorAll Medium Shine Protectant (at Walmart, amazon, etc) for plastics, Mother's VLR for vinyl, leather, and rubber, Windex for glass, a few packs of microfiber clothes (cheap at Harbor freight, or amazon), a wash mitt, 5-gallon bucket, horsehair brushes (amazon), assorted stiff brushes (the ones with big handles) and some Meguiar's "red" foaming car soap.
all this stuff can be had for pretty cheap too, especially if you already have some of it.
I have an unrelated detailing question if you don't mind me asking. If a car is gonna be sitting in the desert sun for its whole life, am I supposed to get it waxed or is washing it every 3 weeks or so enough to prevent damage?
Waxing would only do so much imo, constant sun is one of the worst things for car paint and clearcoat. If it is constantly in direct sun, i'd recommend getting a car canopy (imagine a big tent), only a couple hundred bucks, and protects not only from sun, but rain, debris, and critters. Otherwise, yeah cleaning it regularly and a wax every month-ish should do decently.
I could also park it under a tree but I'm not sure if that's better with all the leaves and dust
yeah tree "droppings" (sap, seeds, leaves), can ruin the paint if left on for prolongued periods of time. do you have enough space for a canopy?
No, is street parking.
might get a car cover but I was just hoping there's something I could treat the paint with to prevent the clear coat from failing
I've tinted it and have sunshades so at least the interior will be ok
What’s your method of choice for protecting convertible tops? Soft tops, both vinyl and cloth, assuming you have a different approach for each?
