Hey I have a 2009 ford focus been reliable for a long time but I was driving earlier and it started to stutter while accelerating and when listening to the exhaust it has this almost rhythmic quiet pop to it with a rush of exhaust gasses, anyway I'm pretty sure it might be the valve cover gasket because I've seen that that's a common issue with this car but any input would be great

Forgot to mention but no check engine light is on if that helps or adds to the mystery not sure

if you can get those codes scanned, that will be helpful. Auto parts store can pull them for you for free in most cases, each code will be a letter and four digit number, post them (or it if only one) and we'll see where that leads. From the sounds of it you may have an exhaust leak at least: can you inspect around the exhaust manifold for any obvious signs of a leak? Crack, or anything? Be careful as it gets very hot.

Whoops I misread - thought you said it had a check engine light

Can you post video of the noise you’re hearing?

I'm wondering if maybe a vacuum leak cause ya the idle is rough the trouble I'm having is that it was fine, took it out on a drive and just started doing this owned the car for 2 Years and never gave me an issue and technically it drives still but I don't want to damage it or have it leave me stranded

Talked with my uncle who is an actual mechanic he said it really seems like a misfire I haven't done spark plugs in quite a while so I think that it would be a good idea to do anyway
