#EV's and hybrid engines

Basically the topic is about reliable EV and hybrid electric engines that are preferably small and in range of 150-200 HP. Cant find much about that because EV buyers seem to worship their models and also tend to know jack shit about cars.

So to round it up, I am looking for an electric engine that has 150-200 HP, is reliable and preferably also small.
Can someone help me out with this cause I cant find any proper info on the commercial vehicles quality.

Are you buying a whole EV or just an EV motor?

I am basically going to attempt to convert an ICE to a hybrid which isnt even that hard. The only big problems are space and what eelctric engine to choose

Pretty sure it's more awkward to merge two drivetrains than going full EV.

Tesla motors + subframe are often a common base to start convertions on due to good documentation and it being self contained.

you for example could use something like a sprag clutch

for the electric engine

Where in the drive line do you want to place the electric motor?

thinking about a BMW E63. Transmission, suspension and so on is rather good, engine is trash but they are cheap to get with engine damage. Goal is to drop an LS engine into it due to the OHV engines and especially the LS being smaller in total volumen and than I plan to do it as hybrid due to the extra space

#

I am still not sure what battery I am going to pick but that will depend on the tech level of bateries when I get them.
Lithium polymer is probably the choice to go with due to the good power density and C rate

thats the thing, either directly onto/slightly above the front axle, into the wheels (tho those dont work to effectively), in between engine and tranny is most likely impossible so the other 2 options would be next to the tranny or around the drive shaft are the options .

best would be onto the front axle or slightly above it to have both engines in parallel going into the tranny. At least that is how most hybrids seem to do it. In series is not realizable and most dont do it anymore due ot the issues with it

What transmission are you planning to use?

frozen orbit

the ZF-6 the car comes with

Honestly. I would just stick in a hybrid 8hp. 60hp of electric and and an LS should be plenty of power. 200 electric horsepower greatly complicates it and rules our any off the shelf solutions.

I dont understand how you are planning to fit an LS, electric motor and a transfer box in a e63 engine bay. Let alone find a transfer box good for at least 500hp and Bell housing addapters required.

#

Driving the front wheels have the issue of the drive unit occupying the same space as the LS.

frozen orbit
#

one option would be in wheel electric engines but they tend to be not properly developed yet

#

an option would be elongating the front slightly to fit the electric engine in between ICE and tranny

dire nebula
#

You will get handling issues with a hubmotor.

frozen orbit
#

you can easily elongate the front on that model, a spacer of 30cm should cut it

Hubmotors are so cool tho

frozen orbit
#

yep

dire nebula
frozen orbit
#

technically with 4 hubmotors at each wheel and realyl good programming you can produce crazy cornering abilities

dire nebula
#

200hp in 30cm is not happening.

tho the BMW I3 engine isnt that large and still has 184 HP

dire nebula

Than get an hybrid 8hp. It has a 60hp motor in the tourqe converter. Should also be a bolt in replacement for a 6hp.

Yes

frozen orbit

I was not aware that it has an internal electric engine

dire nebula

Can't remember what it was called.

good to know

It's what the hybrid BMW's use

I see
