yo . i baught an opel astra 2007 . sxi today 1.4 petrol . on test drive there wssnt anyrhing unusual but after driving about 30kms home i started hearing a faint engine knocking sound and the oil light came on at anything under 1300 rpms . Also noticed the car leaks oil by the fanbelt side of the engine onto the alternstor . I think it might just be too thin of an oil used and oil pressure sensor might be broken . Also it had a timing chain done a month or two ago . What do ye think is causeing oil light snd fsint knocking sound ? . Car also has only about 100k miles . Thsnk you

Start by changing the oil to whatever weight is advised in the owners manual, and do an oil pressure test or get one done, using an actual gauge. That will determine your next steps.
UPDATE. . I changed the oil pressure sensor it helped . The oil light now doesnt come on unless its below 900 rpm instead of below 1300 . And there is now no knocking sound . But the oil light still comes up .

You probably still have low oil pressure, I would get the motor looked at or put an analog gauge on the car.
Motor may be in its way out.
But it may not be a coincidence that you just did the timing change and this happens
Yeah . I got a manual pressure guage and its perfect for the first 5 minutes about 3 bar . And then slowly descends to 0 bar . Rip
