any of you fine gentlemen care to help me pick out some audio gear for mk6 gti? nothing crazy, $350 budget for radio, amp and sub (pref amazon). I am a huge tinkerer but for some reason when it comes to anything electrical I can never wrap my head around it, ohms, amp, rms, wats etc.. I do appreciate audio quality but beggars cant be choosers with a limited budget.

current speakers do not sound too bad and I don't think they are stock

There is nothing in the 350$ budget range that will outpreform OEM.

#

I built a pretty budget friendly subwoffer last summer. Thought it was going to be 300€, ended up costing closer to 600€

#

That was also only the sub. If you are looking for a headunit that preforms better and has carplay etc you will be looking at another 500$.

current speakers knock pretty well, just could use some oomf on the bass

That radio looks crummy as hell and the reviews are pretty mixed.

If this diagram is not clear enough to avoid cheap ones.

You dont need to go with a model specific radio. Most VWs use double din with a larger facia and you can get bezles to adapt it to normal doubledin

#

want to keep oem speakers, nothing around $250 for a sub and amp?
An active subwoofer is an option for that price range, but they are usually quite underwhelming. You also need a aftermarket headunit to get the most out of it and if you dont want to splice wires. Its also dependant on what the current sub situation is, there might already be a small OEM one somewhere.

Buying used is always an option and you can get some decent stuff for 350$ if you get that craigslist grove.
