Hello, my uncle is buying my 08 mercury mariner for $500. He told me to make sure I don't wrote anything on the title. It could be that he just wants to make sure it's correct, but in the even he wants to buy the car and not sign the title, what should I do?

I am working with the assumption that he needs a car for work. If I don't sign the title to him, won't he be unable to register it?

If you sign the title, he has to register it and pay registration fees and taxes. If you don’t sign it, he can flip it (sell it to someone else) without paying said fees and taxes. This is known as title hopping and in most cases is not legal. Do NOT let him take possession of the vehicle without signing the title. Even if he doesn’t intend to title hop, he probably intends to leave it in your name and, if something happens (accident or traffic violation) the cops end up on your doorstep and you are liable.
