Engineering and manufacturing costs. If they expect to move 1000 units of the BMW one and 100 units of the Miata one, their manufacturing costs will be higher per unit for the Miata one. And, if it takes them 50 hours of engineering/design time for both units, that’s half a euro per BMW unit versus five euros per Miata unit. It’s also possible the Miata requires a more complex machined part in it, which can multiply their build cost, or requires a different material spec for one reason or another. Tl;dr: it’s an apples to oranges comparison, if you can build one yourself then feel free to do so!
