Miatas are trash, wipe them from your list. Overpriced and overhyped and have a terrible engine and not that great of a build quality

Cars with the VQ engine like the 370 and Gs are decent but their engines are built so that they are not beginner friendly to actually mod. Good with bolt ons though

I’m don’t like transverse engine layouts nor fwd but out of all the engines of the chassis u have listed. The civic would be the most beginner friendly to mod and have a large community and aftermarket scene.

So maybe get a older civic or a different gen to mod

Unless if you want rwd, go look at some older Japanese vehicles; as it seems u like Japanese cars. Mk3 supra, er34 + stagea, Gloria, the Nissan s chassis, and other rwd longitudinal layouts. If you like the Zs you can get a 280zx which has a pretty nice I6 rwd layout

Also VQs are made in Mexico and have a poorer cast quality compared to Japanese built engines.
