My partner and I are looking to get a newer car than my ‘04 sonata.
The issue being, it needs to be big enough to hold a wheelchair, but safe enough to be able to accommodate a child with “glass” bones.

Anything in the ‘10-‘15 year range would be swell. Thank you if you decide to help.

(I will request for no trucks. Hauling a wheelchair for a truck is a nightmare)

Budget?

Realistically, this is the use case for a minivan. Honda Odyssey is the move, but they carry a premium. You’re probably looking for a Dodge Caravan just make sure to not spend your whole budget on the purchase as it will likely need some repair soon after purchase.

We have a town & country for her power wheelchair, modified, but it’s heavy on gas.

Max is $13k

Looking for something slightly smaller than another full size van.

But for the love of all that is on this earth, not a Subaru

Full size vans out, got it. Can you swing a Ford Transit Connect? The small one, not the big one. Also, if memory serves, the Mazda MPV I think was a shrunken down minivan? Or maybe it was a Protege5, I don’t remember for certain.

Is Honda Element a contender? Or possibly too old?

1, too big, 2, not enough trunk, 3, protege was small car, 4, little bit harder to get one

Hmmm. You might be best served looking for a short wheelbase Caravan. Not much else is going to meet your own stated needs, something has to give

That’s a good option.
