#Engine swaps?

2003 WRX, about 220,000 kms. Is it a good idea to swap the EJ? I’ve heard it’s a very difficult car to engine swap and I just got it a few weeks ago. I’m thinking if I did swap it it would be for a F4 from a salvage title Cayman that i found, as they are similarly sized engines.

lol this community hates Subarus and EJs in particular so you’ll probably have a lot of encouragement there. That said, engine displacement shouldn’t be the primary driver of what swap you do, in the case of that F4 you may have more trouble getting it working than it’s worth. If this is your first engine swap of installing something from a different car, I’d suggest doing one that’s been done before so you know what you’re up against and have an established roadmap you can follow. It’s real easy to bite off more than you can chew when it comes to swaps.

i think the k series is my best option but i just don't know yet and i'd like more input from other people with experience in these cars before i make my final decision

boxer engines are trash for what they are. If you want a 4cyl than swap in a k series. Much more reliable motor that can hold power better.

Is it built to look like a rally car, or is it stripped/built on the chassis for it?

engine mounts shouldn't be hard to make or get fabricated at a shop

If you've got 10-15k to throw at this then you can do pretty much whatever you want

# mint osprey hvac is gone

Did you cut the roof yourself? Just asking as I deleted the hvac on my r34 and need to install a roof vent

Get a truck 5.3 and stick a turbo on it. Install in your WRX. Go nuts.
