Well, you should learn to work on this car if you do buy it
Most expenses involving BMWs are labor
I would also get a service manual for this generation of 5 series, along with wiring diagrams
I would also do your own PPI for a hundred bucks at a shop you trust
I also would figure out why a new DME was installed…. I’m not sure where the DME is located but my mind immediately asks is this car flooded? Are there any other lingering electrical issues?
This car has the N52 motor, so I highly recommend checking these locations for oil leaks:
- valve cover gasket
- oil filter housing gasket
I’d also let the car run, and if it runs hot the thermostat needs to be replaced.
@ancient thunder id do everything i said above, offer a fair price for it, and then pocket $2500 and see if anything happens to it within the first year before you start spending that money elsewhere. $1000 can pretty much fix anything on the car that is likely to fail as long as you do your own labor. $2500 should be more than enough
