It's not.
100k miles plus is bad
That depends on what the brand is and if they're reliable. You'll want to look at the service record for the vehicle to see if it's been maintained and get a pre-purchase inspection.
It's right at the point miles wise where it might not be worth it since you'll typically have a lot of upcoming maintenance and repairs.
ohhh i see
if it has a good service record do u think it would be worth it then?
I would look for some other options and expected maintenance costs first
passats are amaazing cars, I myself had 2 passats and 1 cc, never had any issue I recommend them truly, my old 2.0tdi cc had 350k kms, ran like new, no issues apart from the typical things like flywheel/clutch
Oil change period is also very important in those cars, not more than 10kkm apart.
But from 200kkm (120k miles) things start to break, clutch, flywheel, turbo, injectors. Those are the typical issues with a diesel, check the injector correction, they shouldn't be more than +2.0/-20 mgr/stroke (you can check this with an OBD2 scanner like carscanner and vgate icar pro)
Check the flywheel, if u hear a slight rattling noise when turning on/off the car it means that the flywheel's gonna need replacement. In DSG transmissions this can be a bit expensive.
Another issue to look for is the transmission bearings, in one of my passats I had to do a transmission rebuild cause it was broken (it's not expensive tho, I paid 300eu, but I always had a manual, in DSG's it can cost up to 1200eu if you wanna do a proper rebuild, oil, bearings, mechatronic...). To check for bearings when in 1st or 2nd gear, let go of the gas pedal, and look for a clunky, metalic noise from the left side of the engine, another common issue is that the car jerks when u let of of the gas.
thank you so much man 🙏🏽
sure, hmu anytime, i’m retrofitting virtual cockpit to my passat b8 now:))
Also TDI is diesel which go longer than a gasoline powerd engine. My car is a 1997 Volkswagen Vento (Jetta mk3) it cought fire and after extinguising it it still runs till this day no further problems. Also alot of mk2 and mk1 golfs are still on the road heck even beetles. But just make sure the car wasent torn to smitherinez by the old owner use a obd2 reader if possible and read out the engine codes. and check the wheel arches and underneeth the seats for rust. (By folding the seats up not the leaning back area) cause from the foto it looks like it had been raining and alot of rain / snow makes rust. https://www.instagram.com/p/CwPEtuttrlq/?img_index=1
