I got this 2005 Honda CRV LX used months ago, just shy of 150,000 miles, and I figured I would get my first oil change at the local Honda dealership and to experience my first time at a dealership. Things seemed to go fairly alright, except one thing: the dealership suspected an oil leak (suspected leak around pan, possibly gasket?) Well anyways, I took it somewhere else where I wouldn’t expect outrageous prices to seal a leak if it wasn’t the gasket. The auto shop said it might just be oil just from the location of the oil filter and the last oil change. I was wondering if anyone in this server has knowledge on the CRV oil filter location and the mess it makes on the brake and suspension parts in the wheel well.
Thanks 🙏

Your best bet would be to clean off all the old oil and keep an eye on it for leaks.
But with it being a 2005, it can be a oil pan gasket for sure. Have a 2013 Altima at 138k miles and I recently resealed the oil pan.

You did the job yourself?
I’m gonna check out down there eventually
These guys at the auto shop said it’s a slight leak, like it’s barely anything to worry about
What’s odd is my brother has oil spill marks in the same wheel well and he has the same exact gen as mine
I did do the job my self. My vehicle doesn’t require a gasket. It gets sealed with RTV. With this being a Honda it probably gets a gasket. Which isn’t bad at all since you need to RTV the “corners” anyways.
