Kia, Hyundai, and genesis are all š„ šļø
Alright, cheers š
Anything with a Hyundai GDI engine is unreliable
Thats more of an America produced model problem
No
They are all cheaply built
Get a crv if you want that type of vehicle
I dont know what to tell you man, thats what I've been told
Cant
I donāt care Hyundaiās are garbage cars. They brand was firstly built on the process of disposable vehicles.
Think about it; the only old Kia, Hyundais, and genesis vehicles you see are the ones given a miataās engine.
They are shit vehicles that have had oil lubrications issues since the start of time.
If you want a knocker buy a Hyundai.
Kia or genesis
Same brand
We dont have Genesis here
Kia and genesis are all the same as Hyundai
That is why they share parts and engines
Look, I appreciate the effort to put me off Kia/Hyundai, but I've kind of fallen in love with the Sportage (Also the IX35), so just giving off about it isn't really helping. There's really no other good 1.7L SUV over here which can tick the box

I am just warning you
If you are fine with engine lubrication failure, knocking, and engine failure. Go ahead
At least it is not one of the vehicles Hyundai tells you to party outside your house because it has a possibility of catching on fire
Lol
I mean, over here they were given a 7 year warranty by KIA when they released in 2011, which was unheard of. Some of them are still going with that warranty as they have not reached the 100k mileage cap
If a brand is willing to slap a 7 year warranty on a car, thats gotta be worth something
Go on forums and look at all of Hyundaiās GDI engine issues
Itās 2023, not much of a warranty left
Did a google there, the European models never suffered from the GDI issues
Some haven't reached the mileage cap, so Kia replenishes the warranty until it reaches it
What is different
''The Hyundai/Kia Theta II engine problems stem from the North American engines being assembled at the Alabama plant if I recall correctly, and a deburring operation not being performed correctly.''
That has nothing to do with cheap rod bearings or crank lubrication holes
But has a lot to do with reliability
āAssembledā aka the parts were not created their
No, as the problems are part related
Look, I'm not doubting your knowledge, but you seem to know a lot about the American side of things, where the European side seems to be suitable
Dude I am telling u it is āpart relatedāthe problems are! It has nothing to do with assembly
Ok, but the GDI issues apparently were due to poor assembly
I'm not denying they're cheap
But come on, 7 year warranty, and here in Ireland I see a lot of them going around, they clearly do fairly fine
There are probably other problems other than lubrication issues that stem from poor assembly. The poor lubrication issues that I am telling you are part related. So unless the parts numbers of the crank and rod bearings are not the same; it will have the same lubrication issues
Ah right
So, to sum it up, poor cars
A few good apples do not decide a farmers earning
Well said
Would you propose any other cars then which are similar?
A decent crv should last you a lifetime
Toyotas are amazing too
Toyotaās are the best brand hands down and I am a Nissan guy.
Yeah, I actually would buy them over a Kia all the way, its just the engine size which is the issue
Insurance here in Ireland is very expensive, and mandatory
Itās one of those places, I see
So, I have to stay within the bracket below 1.7L
Huh?
That have the literage crap
Oh, yeah lol
So yeah, with a 1.7L engine, with AXA, I'm looking at around ā¬2000 per year, with ā¬500 possibly on top of that
A 2L, well, possibly ā¬3000, and probably higher
Its just because I'm a young adult male, so the insurance is through the roof
That is ridiculous
Let me think and do some looking around at some rides
I will get back to you
I know, its nonsense, its just that Ireland is the most well-off country in Europe, so all these insurance companies come over here and rack up the prices because they can, and people pay them
GG @limber nimbus, you just advanced to level 3! Chat more to level up and earn top roles!
Keep in mind that we dont have some American cars over here

Yaris/echo, Corolla (depending on year), civic (depending on year), Prius (I would only get a low mileage one; because of battery health and life), and Honda fit
Pretty sure most are available where u live.
Check out the fit, might suit u well
Not gonna lie, Iāve always liked the Fit. Lol.
Which, the look of them?
Yeah I think they look great for their class.
Any knowledge on them you could share?
I'll be completely honest with you, absolutely hate them
I donāt have experience with them. Just think they look good. It is a Honda product, and Honda make phenomenal engines
Is it?
Kia no?
The Honda Fit (Japanese: ćć³ćć»ćć£ćć, Hepburn: Honda Fitto) or Honda Jazz is a small car manufactured and marketed by Honda since 2001 over four generations. It has a five-door hatchback body style and is considered a supermini in the United Kingdom, a subcompact car in the United States, and a light car in Australia. Marketed worldwide and manufac...
Get the 2023 civic
I hate it when people donāt read the chat before commenting
Cant be bothered
Needs to be around 1.5L because of rules and regulations
Civic 1.5T
They make em in 1.5L in 2023? Thought it was only a 2.0
Really didnāt know
Sorry, I really donāt care that much about inline 4 fwd cars lmao
Which are the only affordable cars
I mean why 2023
This is their first car
They are already not wanting a bigger engine because it will increase the price of insurance
?
Yep
Ya but I doubt they will buy a 2023
Then 2016
Yep
I think they want a more compact hatch though. Like the fit. I did list a civic though as an option so weāll see what they get in the end
Civic hatch
But if they want something smaller then i would recommend something like vw polo because i think fit/jazz is discontinued
Why does it have to be something new? Like I said they are on a budget most likely as it is their first
Itās not even really discontinued in the sense of parts.
Every manufacturer has a heritage partās program
Hard cap right there
Especially when you see the viscosity of oil newer cars are forced; to run to push out as much performance under emissions
Also if you look at brands such as merc and Nissan; their older models are way more reliable
And that is true with a majority of other brands. Same with certain and Toyota and Honda engines and models.
I would rather have my skyline than a brand new Hyundai
Tighter tolerances and factories in cheap countries doesnāt help either
Also they are getting to a point where they are no longer able to be worked on by the owner and require a specialist mechanic to work on em. A good example is the switch from a timing belt to a closed off timing chain with included lubrication ports built into the cover.
Gone with simplicity, reliability, and ease of access; in with high tolerances, emissions, and cheaper assembly.
New models drive better
Handle better and are safer
And more quiet
high tolerance is a good thing
They donāt handle better, safety being quiet is option of opinions. Higher tolerance is not a good thing in a engine pushing a minimum of 3-4k rpms; especially when the oil viscosity is getting more close to that of water.
Also they aināt that much more quiet than 10 years ago lmao, some are even louder (other than hybrids and evs)
Safety (I guess if you are afraid of getting into an accident; which shows your lack of confidence), and the few years of warranty is the main factor with which average joes buy new cars.
other than that, no real reason for an average joe to get a new car other than wanting one off looks and taste. Usually most people with taste actually go older rather than newer.
A can say with a fact, that the majority of people on this server with a civic donāt have a stock exhaust
Lol
Im talking about wind and road noise.
I figured. Such a better name lol
Well that is false in a lot of cases too, look at maclarens. Also the new supras have one of the worst wind buffeting in existence.
Bro
I sat in a 2014 and 2020 corolla and noise difference is insane
and ride quality
I'd go with an old one just for the sake of repairability
Older Corollas like sprinter handle way better than the newer corrolas; prove me wrong. They are legit go karts
Seating and a softer suspension is probably it for the year difs in ride quality.
Lol no
New ones have multi link independent rear suspension
And lower center of gravity
