2014 Ford Escape SE AWD 4 Cylinders X 1.6L FI Turbo DOHC 097 CID
Current Miles 110k
Is as specific as I can get it, this video (though not mine) is almost if not exactly the same sound as I have with my current vehicle.

I have my own OBD2 reader and it does reflect what the garage told me. It is spitting the P codes for 0731, 0732, 0733, 0734, 0735. My OBD2 reader (Blue Driver) states those codes (reflective of what was being communicated by the garage) with no check engine light.

This is what is currently happening with it - You start it up, it runs pretty normal, then the gear(s) slip, or just over-all loses connection, almost as if it was in neutral. Reverse does not work on it.

Now according to this post, where I found the link above - https://www.fordescape.org/threads/transmission-whine-2013-fe-sel-awd-1-6l-ecoboost-6f35-transmission.114326/#post-1139417

When you turn the car off, the fibers will settle back down into the filter, and the car will drive normally for awhile. Hope this helps!

The way they describe it, is what - perhaps if anything is happening to it, but obviously I'm no mechanic.

The mechanic shop quoted me around 4 grand to REPLACE the transmission, and I don't have that kind of bread.

According to many google searchs, a common issue of loosing reversing power is - low trans fluid.

So what do you think? Frankly I am to broke to afford such a financial investment of 4k, on a car worth 5k, and my loan from the bank on it being slightly under 6k.

Any advice would be great, since I don't think investing into another car would be a smarter option.

About a week and a half ago I started to hear a noise coming from my engine bay. Took it to Ford and they said the only way to find out is to tear the transmission apart. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it is?

What lead up to the problem -
We were driving normally, everything fine, no weird noises, or issues what so ever for a whole hour and some change. We stopped at a local McDonalds drive through and then all of a sudden after putting it back into drive, it started making the noise, and not outputting to the wheels.

#

Lastly, I got the car at around 76k miles, and racked on another 40k. At no point has the trans fluid been changed. We were gonna do a full service this month, untill this happened so. Perhaps we did it too late? Or who knows.

I don't know anything about what's going on but as usual the transmission is ESCAPing

Fords are pretty shit. I'd recommend, if you can afford it of course, to look into getting a different vehicle, preferably Japanese or European since they seem to last. If not, bring it to a mechanic that isn't the dealer because the dealers always charge way too much for simple repairs, let alone something like that.

The ford escape has really bad transmissions from that generation

#

other fords like the panther platforms had way better reliability

#

stay away from escapes and exploders

So in its current state, its not worth as much as a working version of it, but is it worth more than a junkyard toss? since theres no damage apart.
