Recently started to have issues with starting (does crank) and I believe it’s the fuel pump since I diagnosed and tested it by attempting to prime it and having someone look at the disconnected fuel line connected to the fuel rail to see if any fuel spurts out. test turned out to be a fail and came to my conclusion to it being a fuel pump. After I installed a new one, fuel gauge wouldn’t respond and still wouldn’t prime. The original fuel pump would at least show the fuel level but now this one doesn’t work at all. Could it be a defective pump or is there something wrong with my connections? All fuses and wires are sending the proper volts so I just want to know if I’m on the right track and I just need a replacement for my defective pump.

you made sure that the ground had continuity and load tested all wires?
