Been looking this up everywhere and can’t seem to find an answer anywhere at all. I’ve tried holding the button down to “reset it” with zero luck at all. I just want it to auto close. It automatically can open just not close

This isn't a definite answer but I have a 2001 e46 and my sunroof would do that when it detected an obstruction, usually it was just the sliding cover that would get stuck and force it to back up again, not sure what this could be
could be getting stuck on the deflector that pops up when the sunroof is open, that or there's debris stuck somewhere
