what I did was remove the helmet/hat on the one I was swapping chips on so it's easy to spot as they're the only one not wearing anything

Totally agree on that, that's why I ended up using a "different hat" system to know who's who at first then I realized that you simply use the list on the right of it to compare the hats with the name as they are showing in the same order :
