World made things more complicated for no reason. A couple of features were neat, but too many things were changed for no reason at all. Forging got 10x more wtf, for example. Combat controls are also really clunky and not smooth.

Unite, despite the hit boxes, was basically a perfect game that had no right to be as good as it was.
P3 was good but generally seen as too easy.
Tri was a magical experience, succeeded by 3U.
I never liked 4U but it seems like half of the OG players think it's the best.
Generations is fucking amazing, I absolutely love all the combat styles. Sadly XX never got an English port.

Goatz, Capcom made the game more accessible to the public, but they had to actually complicate the game (no idea how this worked out) to make that happen. Almost every MH veteran agrees. It's almost exclusively people new to the franchise that love World. Many also go on to try the original formula and love that more.
