#Transcribe tricky melodies and chords with Voxengo SPAN

This plugin can be used for a lot of stuff, I haven't learned much of it yet, just been playing around to see what I can figure out on my own first. In the example pic, I pulled up a request from @dark stirrup about the piano chords at the beginning of "We Magicians Still Alive in 2021". Good question, some of those chords are really hard to hear by ear!

This plugin can help with transcribing, but I wouldn't recommend jumping through all these hoops unless you find the frequency spectrum and bouncy spike pictures super interesting like I do >__<

Fancier version coming in future video, maybe.
Prototype Steps as follows.

-get audio in DAW, add plugin to track with recorded audio
-Time select segment of song you want to transcribe, loop it
-or just loop the one note or chord, plus a couple seconds before it does (important because those other notes could still be ringing in the background)
-Adjust settings in a particular way
-when you see it, pause the recording, or click "hold"
-mouse over the peaks, it will say the pitch in the top left.
-some peaks are notes, some are parts of the sound of a lower note (one octave higher, one octave + 7 semitones, two octaves, two octaves +4 semitones, and more are possible)
-start with the lowest notes, take notes out if they don't fit, keep stacking until it matches!

So where I could go with this next is to add a second graph of a copy of the audio shifted by a 1/8 or 1/4 or 2/4 beat and it will be much easier to see which notes just changed. I am also going to look at other tools that could get this type of data right into a "possible MIDI pitches" item from which you then select which are the actual notes, that kind of thing. But I think I'm kicking that project 6 months into the future; it's high time for me to jump into making an original song for the first time in too long!

You can even use this plugin to find which notes aren't there, which is also important
