The dwarf npc has this, but not mr Ferryman:

00:02 The Dead Ferryman: Greetings, traveler.
00:02 Sir Fredde: balance
00:02 Sir Fredde: tickets

00:20 Malgock: Who's there? Ah, hello Grungnir.
00:20 Sir Fredde: tickets
00:20 Malgock: You have 467 tickets left.

Hello, its not a bug. This topic would fit better on feedback as suggestion to change.
For now you can verify the amount of tickets on exchange module, while hovering the ticket icon
