It depends on the move but usually you want to hit with the very edge of the move, also fast falling and short hopping can both help with timing moves to hit exactly where you want them to
I would personally practice the spacing and timing for a move in training mode until you have it down and then move onto applying it to actual matches
Either CPUs or slightly worse players
But also your spacing will just get better with more time and experience, I don’t even think about it anymore when I’m playing
