Hello fellow players,

I'm about to present you a very simple but neat tool that I've been developing this week.
It is a tool that allows you to enter the number you aim for, last 3, 2, 1 or no last at all type of hit.

It will do the math for you, and should give you the most optimized way in order to take care of your precious hammer 😉
You just have to either enter the number on top left, or slide the cursor on the middle bar. Both will update together.
RESET button is there to remove last hits.
Switch Display allows you to choose between "x times a hit" to each individual hit.

There are few safeties: it can't go under 0 nor after 145, so your materials should never be destroyed.

Lemme know your thoughts, any feedback, positive, negative, whatever will be very useful and taken into consideration. I'd prefer you to DM me for that, but you can reply here by pinging me.

Here's the link: https://anvil.kalipto.dev (website would probably break a lot of times, while it's a temporary webserver that will probably completely change. Uptime should still be about >95%.)

Here is a form, I would really love if you could answer to it with all creativity possible. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfXZh4HXzzIc96m4SquoMg73kKdneD-YUbPJtylue0hZWR1lg/viewform?usp=sf_link

The fact that (largely) forging bonuses leads to so many iterations of cool stuff being made by players (texture packs, scripts, tools, websites), endlessly amuses me. As it's in some sort of form a validation that if I was presented with this challenge, this is exactly what I would do (I say... having spent the last week or doing the exact same thing for a different game xD)

Ahah xD Actually, I will soon make that a real useful website that will gather all tools and features in one place. Web dev is my job so I'm very glad to see that another experienced dev is validating that road I'm walking in rn xD

And yeah, I totally agree. When something interesting in game, with great mechanics pushes players to craft themselves other things around it, you've won! 😄

unreal wing

oh that would be great for the playerbase

Feel free to use it or mention it, if it can help, go on 😉

#

It will be coming up in next weeks / months for sure

#

But it would probably be about other mods / mechanics too tho

There's a place where you can type a number in the top left corner. That's the value you want to reach in the anvil. Now look at the 3 squares on the top of the anvil gui in-game, then click the red/green buttons on the website in the same order so they match the ones shown in-game. On the bottom of the screen it will then tell you the order of the anvil buttons you need to press in-game

??

#

could you please answer this too @hollow tangle

hollow tangle
#

Oh yeah i forgot you need a texture pack to see the values

#

Man how are people even expected to use anvils without it

#

Okay hold on

Look at the long gray bar. Count how many pixels to the right the top pink cursor is (the numbers on top of the bar will help you). For example, the top pink cursor on the gray bar in this screenshot is at 71, so that's the value that you'd put in the calculator

#

also how do i set the last and not last?

#

on the website

#

like the rules how do i set them

amber remnant
#

just play the minigame lol

visual fulcrum

i could but its annoying

hollow tangle

Honestly it's the number one biggest gripe i have with tfc so far

all you have to do is

Perform the recipe steps

Using any combination of steps, move the cursor back to the target

Perform the steps you just did again

Perform the recipe steps

#

if you need to do more than that you give up too easily

Hello mate ! You can guess the value by looking at the bar with the vertical dashes. It should have a +2 factor between bars.
Then you either enter the value required in the top left corner, or slide the bar yourself until you reach this value. Then you add last requierements by clicking on those icons, and it will give you the most optimized path to get there

#

You can reset the requierements with the RESET button, and switch display with the SWITCH button

The issue is with how precise you have to be, especially with such big numbers. The average player could be sitting there for a full 20 minutes brute forcing combinations and breaking ingots until they finally get a poorly worked tool. It really doesn't help that there's no indication of exactly how far each blow will move the cursor. It's a mechanic practically based on trial and error. I know I've said a lot of silly things here before, but I know for an absolute fact that most players do not find that to be engaging gameplay. Make a server poll and I guarantee that most people will disagree with that stance.

This tool just helps getting that mental gym ahah

amber remnant
#

yea not gonna do this song and dance with you, sorry. its not trial and error, plenty of people play the game and they know how it works, I even told you how to do it

lol i used chatgpt to quickly figure out what the starting value needs to be
