Home Assistant Voice based on Koala Satellite. I posted my modifications on GitHub here

It features volume control via the dial & play/pause by pushing it.
Current song name/artist & song position/duration

At the top you can also see a few status icons such as wifi connectio, mute state & assist phase

The integrated LED in the speaker lights up depending on mute state & assist phase
I might expose the usr & mute button in the final design

Components:

  • Respeaker Lite
  • ESP32-S3 DevkitC N16R8
  • Rotary Encoder: KY-040
  • 5W speaker
  • Common Cathode RGB LED
  • 128x64 OLED screen
  • some random small box

Now I need to learn 3d modeling to make a nice case

I really like it, you need to create an enclosure🥳

I have 0 PCB & 3D modelling experience
Wish me luck

the cardboard box has it's own charm as well 😆

the best thing is I have this exact same box a second time...
And I plan on making a second

i have used cardboard boxes before like this but i went to an art store and got a couple of A4 sheets of "sticker paper" like shiny white on one side and glue on the other so i could just cut it with a blade and stick it on the box

it's just really annoying to mount stuff inside
can't use the click of the rotary encoder lol

#

do u have access to a 3d printer?"

supple cipher
#

I do not, but I plan to look into that & order some prints online

#

got some friends with skills in that stuff
I hope they bear with me :D

well i am not an expert in any way shape or form but i have been learning some CAD myself and got a new #d printer and having a lot of fun making my own enclosures for my projects

#

to make your design in CAD is pretty easy

I do plan to get a 3d printer eventually, but I do not have the space for one atm

takea tip from me - Bambu A1

#

i would make your box in two parts and hold it together with magnets inserted into the front plate

#

also a threaded insert to hold in the rotery encoder and some some bevel around the display

#

u couold put some sort of grooves on the top of the box so the speaker slides into them and its locked in place a bit

That speaker looks cool. Where did you get that?
