Hey friends! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm the guy behind the FutureProofHome YT channel that focuses on HA voice stuff. An amazing team of HA community members have built a startup and we're very close to completing our ESPHome-powered Satellite1 voice assistant & multi-sensor for the Home Assistant platform and I wanted to share a sneak peek to what we're building. If you're interested in buying a Satellite1 checkout the website at FutureProofHomes.net. Thanks for all the support guys...and watch the demo videos below! ๐Ÿš€

Very cool! I haven't looked into it myself, but is there already code out there to make good use of a mic array like that in ESPHome? Or one of the other ICs on there does that work for you?

Looking great. The near future will be awesome. Interested to see how the Nabu version will compare. Yours looks great already! Any ideas on price point already?

#

Nvm, saw it on your website.

Yup, I use PE code for Respeaker Lite.

#

Looks GREAT @dawn coral . I'm sure with that team you will deliver awesome product!

@dawn coral any chance Satellite1 can be compatible with... whatever is the most popular thing for multi-speaker output? Eg, owntone. Not sure if owntone itself is the best thing out there, and owntone itself seems to support multiple protocols so maybe it's best to target something more generic. But given small form factor, and abundance of sensors, it'd be pretty damn good if few if this could be used for multi-speaker output. ๐Ÿคฉ

#

(I know HAT can be stuck onto a Raspberry Pi, which can run an MPD daemon which can worm as a receiver for owntone, but ESP-based driver seems to be a more exciting option for a more wholesome integration with ESPHome)

And on the same note, considering Satelite1 a quality output sink, having at least a 3-band equalizer would be fantastic to allow tuning sound to one's liking. ๐Ÿคฉ

In case you're looking for any extra ideas ๐Ÿ˜…

Does Music Assistant support multiple outputs? Would need to check it out.

dawn coral
#

It does. It has multi-room support.

#

And since the Sat1 can be powered by a Raspberry Pi the possibilities of building a serious music streaming/voice assistant are kinda limitless.

The good thing about owntone is that can stream to AirPlay and Chromecast so allows targeting the entire zoo of home speakers at once ๐Ÿ˜…

Music Assistant can support Airplay (last I remembered). I'm unsure about Chromecast off the top of my head tho.

Ok, looks like I'm behind on some cool stuff - thanks for the pointers!

#

The equalizer idea still stands though ๐Ÿ˜…

It's trivial to do based on i2s, but assuming you build on top of IDF, IDK if there's an easy way to adjust bands

Hehe.. it's a cool idea. I'll look into it! Hit us up in our discord or open a detailed Feature Request on the Github.
