#ESPlanty | Self-watering Solar Powered Plant | No plumbing & no powerpoints
9 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I kill plants so I decided to have my own crack at a self-watering plant. I call it ESPlanty.
Key features:
- Solar/battery powered
- No plumbing required. Concealed water reservoir
- Moisture and light monitoring (light is handy for solar tracking too)
- Tank and battery level monitoring
More details on HA thread.

amazing!
That looks like a standard submersible aquarium pump (centrifugal) - your notes say to look for a better pump; you might try for a positive-displacement type which should use less energy and allow better flow control. Not sure you can find them in submersible but I think you should be able to drop a hose in and self-prime
Hi thx for your project
If you want an advise, you should go away from this type of moisture sensor .... They become dead super fast by oxydation....
If I am seeing correctly your model of moisture sensor
I used some life extension techniques. Nail polish and only power them when being measured. Apparently they last ok like that. Time will tell I guess.
Thanks. Having the pump outside would probably make a few things easier. I have no clue about pumps really.
