Oh, sorry let me try to edit them into the post
I uhh hmm. I think I broke it.
I've been meaning to post about this ever since I got some advice on here on choosing temperature sensors. Cad files, Yaml files, PCB and build instructions in this repository:

I suggest you delete this thread and create a new one. 🙂
@rough zodiac awesome work! The temperature sensor I use is the HTU21D but the issue I ran into is the heat generated by the fan and ESP32 Mini skew the measurements by a few degrees Celsius. If you manage to minimize this issue please post about your solution!
I'm not sure if we talked about this before, but I pretty much plowed ahead. the heat buildup in the case is minimal and keeping the fan running keeps the readings within 1 degree of my awair element
multiple of these things in the same room are off by half a degree or more from each other so I'm calling it good enough
the heat seems pretty localized actually
I took these while investigating why temps increased so much over by prototyping breadboard setup. The sensor's heat plus that of the ESP32 was the culprit. Glad you are not seeing the same issue. Running the fan all the time will dramatically shorten the life of the sensor (fan failure and dust accumulation on the optical sensor) but may still be long enough to be acceptable for today's short lived electronics standards.
