Since the update I have had issues with left hand climbing and not being able to reload whilst climbing. I'm on Index SteamVR and have tried multiple different bindings to see if I can find a work around and the issue is still the same., this issue wasn't present before the update for me. I have heard a lot of others complaining in game about the climb being broken so not sure if this is the same issue others are finding, but its literally unplayable to be enjoyable, its frustrating when you finally climb get into combat and fall to the ground not being able to climb or reload. Do you have any idea when this will be fixed @sacred token ? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue myself, but we made a build that might fix it on Steam VR.
Branch: climbtest01
Password: climbtest0001
- Right click on the game in your Steam Library -> "Properties..." -> "Betas"
- Enter the password above into the "Private Betas" section, press "Check Code".
- Set the Beta Participation drop down to the branch name above.
- Launch the app like normal and try to reproduce the issue.

Ok, played for approx 40 mins on the above. Tested solo in a custom which was fine and seemed fixed. Went into sandbox TDM and a Metro duos, the climbing seemed to be fixed, however the FPS dropped between 35 and 62 and felt sea sick with the blur.
Interesting... not sure why it would lower performance that much, but good to know.
I'll look into it more.
Tbh... since the update the FPS has dropped a lot it seems to be intermittent but its not stable like it was before the update but on that test above it was really bad and unplayable with the blur. Let me know if you want me to test anything else.
Agreed. Using Quest 3 through SteamLink. So, SteamVR with SteamVR OpenXR runtime and performance is randomly tanking. Its specically a frametime issue. Game frames go from 3-4ms to render to 10-11 ms to render. This is on a 14700k with 3070ti. Also used processor affinity to set the game to run on the fastest cores thinking the game might be running on the e-cores. That did not fix. @merry rune
I'll also mention that running the game through Virtual Desktop with VDXR OpenXR or Oculus OpenXR does not seem to cause frame time spike so issue seems to be related to Steam OpenXR. @merry rune
@merry rune did something with the climbtest launch codes change? I played today and the climbing was broken again on evolving map and it was playing on 15 - 35 FPS so it seems like something has changed. Wasn't sure if we should revert back to the orional version?
This issue here is real @merry rune . its not happening all the time....it may be limited to certain areas ...im not sure. Happens alot in metro.I have a heck of a time climbing when i have a gun in one hand now. This is being described all over the community as well.

I can semi fix the climbing to intermitant issues, but the FPS plumets to 30fps and its just a blur in my headset totally unplayable...
Oh. I dont know if fps is doing anything on my end. Its just all of sudden mid climb cant grab an object with left hand.

Yeh its dreadful.. easpecially close range and you gotta move it plants me on teh ground... real sad times atm i didn't think it could get this bad

Yes, we'll have to rebuild that change with the hot fix build. For now you'll have to switch back to default (none).
is there going to be a fix like this for native quest? i also have the same issues as described above with climbing
also so far i noticed that grabbing the "outer layer" i.e air before the texture grabbs all the time. its like the grab box is not in line with some of the textures. noticed it mostly in metro and sandbox.
To me it's pretty simple just change it back to the old way it was..... I don't know why everybody always overcomplicates things...
Until then there's going to be some quest threes just sitting on the shelves in the store.... Because honestly a lot of people buy the Q just to play this game.... I am one of those people

Dunno about all of that. But @merry rune is there also going to be a fix for Quest Native? It’s hard to not have confidence in grabbing when climbing. You suddenly slip and start flying around. Really messes up with the whole flow and feel of the game.
Not that it’s “harder” to climb. Just immersion breaking as now I have to concentrate on how and where to grab instead of just grabbing intuitively
I'm just going to keep playing classics because the mechanics there aren't broken

This would explain why i have been seeing super sweat squads in classics. I was thinking to myself why am i seeing these clan teams in classics. I thought they all hate classic.

Do you play on Q or Index? I can't climb at all in Evolving, classics is janky but its probs 20/30% better than evolving for me
Quest - It’s super annoying to physically put my hand where there wall is virtually to climb where before you could have like your elbows all the way in there was so much wiggle room to grab so to speak.
How crazy! Im on Index and its no fun to play when its so broke. The climb001 launch code seemed better but they revoked that and left us with it broke lol Custom rooms are the same as pubs too.

This is a problem every match for me. I’ve tried really focusing on my climbing. Going slower, varying wall depth. It still happens. I’ve been playing since launch and this bug is the first that leaves me frustrated every time I play, that I’m considering stopping
What set up are you playing on?
I feel handicapped. I don’t have confidence in my movements and this fucks up my whole gameplay. I always feel like I need to look at what I grip before I grip. That was never an issue in pop1
You’re dependent on being able to grab properly for so much, it’s ridiculous they haven’t fixed this.
@merry rune you said in another discussion that you guys changed the way collision was handled on the evolving. It stands to reason this is the issue since it’s only happening on the evolving map. Can you pretty please just roll back this change? I will take a few random people abusing wall glitches ALL DAY over this. There is hopefully another way to stop people from abusing wall glitches but this is not workable.

Are you able to climb 1 handed without issue now? For me I can’t work out what I am doing differently to fall sometimes but not others.
90% of the time yes. It’s all about where you grab the texture. Especially when you are not looking
still happens enough to be a problem, and really makes "vertical combat" sad and unhappy...
even two handed climbing is fraught with peril during a heated moment...

I notice it a lot when I warm up in TDM, my god! Climbing there is so frustrating. Every texture behaves differently when you grab it. Some you need to grab the outside layer. Some deep inside the texture.
I thought I got used to it. But seems I just got used to broken climbing in Evolving. In TDM most of the time I fuck up the grab/climb.
i basically just do a straight arm, and go, or a two handed doggie paddle kinda thing for speed, but when it's not working, it's bad; it was flawless before, and i know it's a cheap fix for another issue, but it's gotta be ironed out
Yep. Really made the immersion take a hit. 3y I loved this game due to the great mechanics, but since the climbing issue was introduced. I just don’t have as much motivation to play…. Feels clunky at times and I just lose the fun aspect when I get pissed off that I can’t climb normally.
I never used to be ground walker, building-grabbing- climbing-flying was my way of quick movement around the map
yeah, it's slowing me way way way down. VERTICAL COMBAT is in the name.
I’m with you….dunno why it takes them so long to fix it. I just think we are the “lucky” few who were climbing wrong all this time and really feel the affects of it. Most users didn’t notice any change.

At this point it doesn't even matter if you have a quest 2. Everybody has the three now with faster processing and the two just can't keep up...
That combined with the s***** climbing makes me not even want to play or buy the three
The quest 2 and 3 are the same on pop1. The only (literally only difference) is the 16% (not 30%) resolution increase.

So now we have broken climbing, and players STILL can hide inside textures and cheat.

I smashed my finger the other day when the climbing wasn't working right. Game us forcing us to go out of our element.
