Hello! I returned recently too so I likely don't have all the answers, but one thing that really helped me was following the Prof. Phoru missions (there's a little icon to see them at the top of the screen where the events and passes are)

They'll give you a ton of great rewards that get your stats up so you can get into the later areas, like free armour and enhancements

Prof Phoru with give you a majority of what you need.
If you’re already at 3rd Job, get crimson amethyst gear, spam Add’s Special Void Dungeon for his weapon drop. Socket everything for Maximize/Crit.

You're best be doing min maxing when you're mid-late (Abyss and Serpe) game to end game (Serpe and Doom raids). If you're only around Tirnog to early Abyss, best just stick on fixing some sockets with crit/max 1st til you hit a bit of a cap on cp then do some pursuits on the others. Since you'd be getting some extra stats from passives and gears anyway. I heard raids from Abyss to Doom have crit resist so this makes it for all of it.
Preferred stats are:
Crit: 85-90
Maximize: 70-75
