I know what you guys are doing. You guys are trying to kill universal buffers by nerfing buffs like ASD, dmg taken, boss dmg increase, crit dmg taken etc. And replacing them with either phys or mag buff/debuff.
With your crappy balancing, this is such a bad idea. Just look. Now RaS is Mag buffer. Do you guys know how huge RaS's playerbase is? And now all of those players are placed on the Mag team.
As if finding parties are not difficult enough already, now you guys are trying to divide us even more.
Whats next? Mag only DeM? Phys only OM? Just stop this nonsense changes already.
You guys are doing a bad job balancing between phys and mag to begin with so stop making it worse.
Also throwing us a JC tix is just trying to duct tape a gaping hole.

I'm just going to put on my tin foil hat rq and say that they might be balancing the characters based on what does the KR community say and what the newest armor is going to give
Tbh it feels like they're trying to keep power creep in check so in theory it wouldn't be that bad for them but in execution it failed
Honestly I have no basis on what I said this is purely speculative
They focus us on get weapon and staging by raiding, a forced to multiplayer mode.
Also them: make party even harder to form
I'm Team Magic but as a RaS user, it also hit me hard when they made RaS support only magic. Almost all the people I know are physical people. They are the ones who help me in raids.
This is really bad. I feel so sad about the balance.
yea I'm a RaS player as well. She got hit pretty bad even in mag party
From the most recent QnA post, you can see that kr community is still pushing for more gatekeeping dungeon requirements.

I wouldn't be surprised if ras got a lot of complaints from their side, cuz of how she could fit into almost any party.
Well said. Now it's even harder to make a full raid/CM party. Never been a fan of phys/mag division either.
Magical RaS is a problem, especially for physical parties, particularly since OM and DA currently have lower support compared to RaS (before it turned magical only), Avarice, Nyx, and Demersio.
I think improving OM and DA synergy is essential before turning everyone more hybrid again.
This. And ppl kept saying "3 phys healer and 3 mag healer, so its fair". No its not. Equality =/= Justice. We all know that OM and DA has terrible dmg boost. And we currently only have 1 phys support that has CDA not to mention said support can only pocket 1 DPS.
NP can dmg boost better than the other support (tho he just got nerfed for some reason), but his heals are terrible. Like for real u sometimes forget u have a healer when running with NP as solo healer
If DeM went mag would have no reliable party CDA buffer
The mentality of these ppl reminded me of whats called the Crab Mentality.
"The metaphor is derived from anecdotal claims about the behavior of crabs when they are trapped in a bucket: while any one crab can easily start to climb out, it will nonetheless be pulled back in by the others, ensuring the group's collective demise."
Yea, I don't get why they would want it. They already have the ability to inspect players that are applying to a party, so they can easily exclude people from their parties if they don't reach a threshold that they want.
On top of that they probably have raiding groups/forums already that they play with, so players can already be vetted through that process.
Most regular dungeons, gear doesn't really matter unless you want certain clear times.
So the best I can come up with is that they are trying to save face (they aren't ones denying access, it's the system) and to exert control over others indirectly via a caste like system.
oof
its not great
expecially when your working against people who actively want worse but actually have a voice while you really dont
The following is taken from the latest KR offline meeting:
"The division of healers to physical and magical happened due to some characters being favorable in any party. In particular, Radiant Soul skewed the balance. If too many parties request for Overmind and Demersio, they will also be separated."
Yep. They are threatening to separate OM and DeM into phys/mag.
I cant overstate how stupid this is.
DeM is good because they have CDA so yes we're definitely gonna take them. Why not? Why cant we do that? Its not like physical has a good CDA buffer that dont have to pocket 1 person.
Are we gonna have to boycott taking DeM's on purpose so they wont make her a mag support? Complete lunacy I must say.
I don't think KOG should be approaching this skewed selection this way.
I think it's safe to say none enjoyed waiting 30mins to possibly hours for a blocker, so that you can do a gaunt/farm. Eventually, KOG gave us a debuff counter before a howl happens. (and more classes got cleanses cuz that also was an issue)
During that process they didn't take away dem/cl's ability to perform a block. (I can't remember who else was part of the blocking squad atm, but these two were definitively the go to picks for the role)
Rather KOG adjusted the environment and evened out the playing field.
I think KOG also came to the conclusion that the striker system isn't working as well as they hoped. My impression is that most Ran gaunts are now just a single 4-man team completing everything.
- the type specificity of 18-2 and 18-3 got removed entirely.
- these smaller teams taking on harder content, push for more pickiness on what benefits a character brings to a party. Part of the reason why some dps' characters got a party buff during the balance patch cycle. (You know well that if there is only the freezer/healer slot left in a ran team and a ras that can't perma applies then her chances of being taken plummets even if it's a mag party)
- We are going back to 6-man raiding with the evaluation of if it's possible to make Ran raid one too. Challenge mode got a firm no due to how the mechs work.
And to top it off, we are currently at a point that you can't just go play another character that fills a specific role/playing style if your current end-game character gets nerfed hard.
The investment into that character is too high at that point to replicate very easily.
Lastly ig is the reason why there's a skewed pick because the character is just that good or do players genuinely just prefer to play the character over others?
If it is the latter, then KOG shouldn't be punishing players for playing their preferred choice.

you would only know if you changed it in which case you would still be punishing players/ruining a char they might have prefered
cuz rn the outcome is the same no matter the answer kek
well the thing is, in the current state of els when it comes to Striker Party, a literal 8 men party where 2 striker parties merged together is a complete FPS nightmare while the current 4 and 4 Striker party is more of an optional thing rather than a mandatory like back then.
18-2/3 split was good in theory to synergize mag and phys parties but in practice it became more of a huge inconvenience than anything.
And yes ur right, this game isnt a moba game or a fighting game where u can just pick a character off a character select screen. Each character needs funding etc to perform well in the endgame. They should realize that every major changes for a character means literally the world for some players. They cant just go "oh shoot my main got nerfed, ok lets switch mains to the currently buffed one". Making RaS a mag buffer is one of those major changes I mentioned. There are lots of parties (static or semi static) that have to lost a member just because of this RaS change (esp phys party). Kog thought giving us JC tix would solve this, but you cant jc a RaS to a phys healer and you cant always make the other 3 (or more) players to all jc to mag characters.
Rather than learning from what makes RaS good and why both phys and mag ppl want her, they just shut her down. Same with DeM.
This. Game is the deadest I've seen it in years, and that's after the usual summertime increase of teen playerbase. There is no route for progression through Berthe and Ran raids besides "be a meta support class until you have s5 SoA then maybe you can DPS as a meta damage class." And then cut that in half because hybrid is dead.
An aggressive choice of words...
But I do agree~ I would word it a bit lighter and i'm unsure who's fault it is- But more endgame- having the recent balance patches split supports to their own phys or mag groups really makes it harder for the playerbase and to find the people you need- I wanna play with phys players since half of my friends are physical- but i can't in certain dungeons as a mag dps since they don't assist me damage wise and i'll be lacking- I'd like it if we could bring back phys/mag buffs and not have them split 🥺 if we could reconsider... the game is just getting harder if this keeps happening to the rest of the universal buffers/debuffers.. im scared for dems now..
I'm sorry if I sound agressive. I feel a strong disdain to the RaS patch once it dropped. It doesn't dissipate much even now tho especially considering their "threats" to make DeM and OM Mag and Phys only respectively. I would not word it differently tho however, because their actions will only hurt the game if this continues. The RaS change has impacted Phys parties greatly especially in NA. The case where having to look for a single healer for Wall as 5/6 is very common in Phys parties. To the point where they would take any healer, including RaS so they can have a freezer. I know cuz I'm also a RaS player myself.
The point is, my choice of words are deliberate to show my disapproval to their decision for our own good (or at least that's how I think personally). Call it a tough love if u will.
And u raised an interesting points about friends cannot join together in a party because of this split. This phys/mag split should provide depth and variation in the game. Sure this kind of split would naturally come with some discomfort which tbh we have been trained to cope with for this whole time when we play the game. Considering the direction they're going with this, this discomfort can turn into a malignant cancer if it isn't stopped.
there is no depth to the divide when they are both functionally identical in their respective groups
it will give variety to the game. This is why the concept of magical/physical exists in rpg games not only Elsword. However due to the nature of how Elsword works where ur main is pretty much ur lifeline in the game, this split is more problematic ESPECIALLY because they cant make both sides work together
a person with a phys buff in a phys party is no different from a person with a mag buff in a mag party
and now they're making it even worse, hence my post
Phys/mag split itself is not bad but it has devolved from from a fun form of variety into a pain in the..... head. Because all it does now is making party forming more restrictive. I they somehow find a way to make Phys and Mag work together without them forcing us to do so (looks at 18-2/3 phys/mag split) , then this concept would be a good thing to have
they tried
I know they did. By havin the 18-2/3 split
it just didnt work as planned
in this game it only exists to make us buy more stuff when job changing ... in the past there was actual subtle differences but they normalized dmg across your char (which was good) which removed that
u can also blame the fact that they cant make phys and mag balance so it will shift all the time
lol
I was waiting for the 16th Oct balance patch to drop just to say thank you for the decision to make healers hybrid. I really appreciate it and I'm sure a lot of players do too.
same, now just a little bit more balance among sups would be nice (avarice/dem gets partywide cda while surya gets solo cda?)
