KoG said they take slower steps for LuCiel because they're the buggiest characters in the game
so LuCiel is like one of the most ignored characters, besides Aisha and Rose;
but unlike those 2, all paths of LuCiel at least fare decent in contents both PvE and PvP (except Cata for the longest time in PvE clearing until recently that they got buffed in range) so LuCiel players are probably used to being ignored but don't have much to complain either so they just chill around

you'll become generally harder to kill for anyone that can't utilize defense shred.
and from people that do shred your defense naturally, it'll just be a bit more tolerable.
keeping your defense value above or at the "funny normalization" could be the difference of taking 10% more damage or 15% more damage.
getting below 5,000 points of physical/magical defense will make you noticeably fragile.
i assume that's the sweet spot when physical/magical damage reduction get's heavily normalize.
like having the funny chance of ignoring all defense, that skill/attack will do 50%~70% more damage to people (depends on persons defense stats).
