How to find a faulty mod/plugin/addon by using 'Binary Search' or '50/50'

A binary search is a way of finding a faulty mod/plugin/addon when you have a lot of them, but without having to remove them one-by-one.

The procedure is simple:

  1. Take half of the existing mods/plugins/addons, and move them out, into another folder.
  2. Run the game.
  3. Does the issue still persist?
    • If YES: Repeat from step 1 with the current things.
    • If NO: Swap out the current things with the ones you moved out, and repeat from step 1.
  4. Repeat this process until the problematic mod(s)/plugin(s)/addon(s) have been found.

Question: I'm playing ATM9 on Minecraft, and there was an update recently that consolidates ores which would affect worldgen. Is there a mod or anything that would preserve chunks claimed by FTB, but force the game to regenerate all others? It'd be a lot easier to tell everyone to just mark the stuff they want to keep, then regenerate the rest of the world somehow.

  2. Click on the CFmenu button next to the play button.

Hey,

So, I've been wanting to "beat" - or, well, defeating the Enderdragon, getting all netherrite stuff etc. - vanilla (or vanilla ish) Minecraft for a while, but any time I start up a world and believe I'm going to get addicted, I do get addicted for like 2 days but then never go back. So, I'm thinking a good way to actually do this is to find a quest-based, vanilla-ish or vanilla+ modpack.

I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas on any good ones:

Requirements:
Minecraft Verison 1.17.1 or lower.
Shouldn't change too much gameplay wise. So, it shouldn't add a large range of biomes, a bunch of random tech and automation stuff, etc. I want it to enhance the experience without feeling modded. Keep the gameplay and mechanics as vanilla as possible, in other words.

Alternatively, if there are other ways I can go about this - maybe a handful of mod suggestions, or even something different entirely - please let me know!

I tried using the author's video tutorial and copied the exact same code, but I can't achieve the same result as he did, everything is affected. The strange thing is that the problem is only due to the change in stats. If I try to do something else with a specific mob, it works.

MC handles ram differently then other games. Too little can have issues, but same goes for too much. As mc will literally try to use all the ram you give it and try to shove it all through 1 cpu core.

Instead of speeding up the game, it slows down the cpus processing by trying to process all the ram, used or unused.

Throw memory leaks into that and your basically setting your pc up for failure.

Unless you dont care about your pcs ram and cpu and are cool with lowering their life expectancies.

The 4-8gb that we recommend isnt just random numbers we chose. Those are years of testing by the mc community trying to find the best options for mc.

Packs with lots of mods that work in that range, the devs days, weeks or months of testing

Searching for a fun Singleplayer modpack that has good questing and is on newer mc Versions (Aka 1.18-1.20).

It needs some good storage mod(s).

Don't want to have 50 gazillion chests and search them all for an item.

Other than that...

I like magic and technology.

I'm not too much on the expiration side since I have very bad orientation.

I'm also in for expert packs - As long as they're hard, not grindy/unnecessarily slowed down.

1.19.4 doesn't have a lot of mods as it is considered a bridge version. you are better off with 1.19.2 or 1.20.1

it is not reccomended to put different packs together or modify them. if you want a vanilla feel you can make a pack yourself with QOL and vanillaish mods
