How to set Minecraft to use the correct GPU in Windows

If Minecraft will not start then use the tool linked at the bottom!

1. Start the modpack you wish to fix. If it will not start, then click the in the top right of the app then select Run Vanilla Minecraft. In the launcher that opens, go to the Installations tab and choose New Installation. Choose a name and select the Minecraft version of the modpack you are trying to run (like 1.19.4 or 1.7.10). Once created play it by clicking the green Play button that appears when hovering over it in the list of installations.
2. Open Task Manager while Minecraft is running (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager)
3. Find minecraft in that list. It will be called something like "Java" or "OpenJDK Binary". (tip: sort by ram usage by clicking on the "Memory" tab. Minecraft uses a lot of ram so will be at the top)
4. Right click it and Open File Location
5. Copy the file path from Windows Explorer by clicking into the address bar and pressing Ctrl + C
6. Press and type in GPU, then press Enter to open Graphics Settings
7. Under Graphics performance preference select Desktop App
8. Click Browse
9. Click the address bar and paste in the folder location you copied by pressing Ctrl + V, then press Enter
10. Select the javaw or javaw.exe file from the files in front of you (tip: press J to immediately jump to the files that start with that letter)
11. Once selected, click Add in the bottom right of the window
12. Click the Options button on the newly added option
13. Set it to High performance on the best GPU you have

You cannot know if the issue is your network or not. Internet/Network is not something 100% stable and practically impossible to prove it's not the issue, I really recommend to stop this misconception as it's really tiring to see people refusing to try the network steps when these steps are the fix for half of the issues in this channel.

Additionally, you already had a issue contacting the Microsoft auth servers. It's hard to know what caused it, but the most common cause is a network issue.

I do in fact know it is not my internet as the issue. I just got new internet put into my house and have done multiple tests with it. I always check my internet speed. Saturday we put the new internet in and since then I've had 400mbps for download speed. So I'm unsure how it would be a me issue in that case. If you were to tell me that with my old internet I'd easily believe it because that was horrible. But I've had 20-30 ping all day playing valorant. How to install mods in the CurseForge App

1. Click + Create Custom Profile
2. Name it, select the required Minecraft version, select the modloader & modloader version (usually the highest number), click Create.
3. Click the profile icon.
4. Click Add More Content
5. Search and install the desired mods.

They will need to backup anything they wanna keep from CurseForge. Its important to ask what OS version they need so you can tell them whether to do the extra command steps I mentioned (or should have) in the msgs attached to the videos

Installs for modpacks via mac should be in documents\curseforge\instances

Technically there is a single person I fixed this with another way. But this is my own tried and tested fix that has worked permanently

But also to answer this question, it resets a bunch of folders permissions to basically the default for an administrator user

So you can't be denied folder access when asking an app to update something, or fail to move something elsewhere

It affects the permissions of folders like documents desktop etc. Whatever is in ur home folder

Minecraft handles ram differently then other games. Too little can have issues, but same goes for too much. As Minecraft will literally try to use all the ram you give it and try to shove it all through 1 cpu core.

Instead of speeding up the game, it slows down the cpus processing by trying to process all the ram, used or unused.

Okay so I am extremely exhausted with trying to figure out what this issue is on my own because I have tried everything from relogging, reinstalling, restarting, disconnecting and connecting back to my internet, changing launchers and launcher types. But the same thing keeps happening. I have no idea how it worked earlier I guess it was luck, but after the server had it's daily restart and I waited an hour after to rejoin since I was busy, the problem happened again. I AM logged into CF at the top with my Microsoft account, I am also logged into my account on the launcher. The same thing keeps happening where it doesn't load my account when I press play so I can't be verified to connect to said server.

I can't use Mojang classic launcher, I can't use Mojang Microsoft launcher, and CF launcher won't fix it either. NONE of the different launchers is fixing the issue

Im trying to play a mod using CurseForge app, and it wont work. I keep switching settings from CurseForge Launcher, and Mojang Launcher and neither works for my mod. When i press Play with CurseForge launcher, it opens the game to a loading screen and crashes before i can even see the main menu, When i have the Mojang Launcher, it tells me to select a minecraft account i have, in which i press my main one. Then it tells me to sign in with my email/phone num/skype, And i put my email. it sends a code, i put it in, then it either tells me to use a passkey which i dont have, or it sends me to an error screen and wont let me play. Help pleeeeaaase!

Hello all, I am looking for some help installing Cursgeforge on my new laptop. I am running windows 11. I am wanting to install so i can dowload addons for WoW TBC. Unfortunately when I download the the curseforge installer it does not launch. It just becomes a logo on my action bar and does nothing. I have done the following: I ahve switch networks. I ahve disabled my Antivirus. I ahve disabled my Firewalls. I ahve reset and redownloaded the installer mnultiple times. Im out of ideas on how i can get this app downloaded

I don't think it's related because everything downloaded fine before, but when I opened the build itself, it didn't have any mods and opened the regular main game.

sorry typo'ed, meant 1.21.1, havent had any issues running java25 so far and for the bigger mod packs the java upgrade + -XX:+UseCompactObjectHeaders did seem to fix micro stutters

It's not a good idea to do it, most modders I know will tell you the same thing.

However if you want to ignore the possible issue and do it anyways, then you will need to do it in the Launcher Mojang using the "Mojang launcher" feature.

I suggested the feature a while back despite being against it, but someone far more knowledgeable than me told me the feature was just too much of a bad idea.

I just looked at the log, it's two mods conflicting inside the vanilla methods and causing a crash, I don't see a way where the launcher could matter in the how/why the crash occurs.

I will turn on my computer and give more information

thanks, i fully get i'm doing things not supported and in the event i do have issues, reverting to the older java version is close to the top of the things to check, but having my game run smoother than friends despite having the slower computer is worth the extra hassle

just to confirm i'm reading correctly, there is no official way to allow doing this to the curse forge launcher without editing the config files directly?

How to repair your Minecraft installation on CurseForge - **NOT** the same as `Repair Profile` - please follow these exact steps

1. Click on the Minecraft Tab on the left side of the CurseForge App.
2. Click button in the Top Right Corner of the app
3. Click Repair Installation option.
