I want to express my frustration with how CurseForge has handled my mod submissions, particularly my latest project, which works differently from the typical .jar mods. To streamline the installation process, we developed a loader mod for MC Heli Overdrive, which has been extensively forked and updated in our version.
However, the mod was rejected due to an alleged violation of the policy against downloading from external sources. What's baffling is that we fully complied by removing any external links, yet the mod is still being rejected for the same reason. Meanwhile, other popular mods like NEI seem to operate under similar practices and remain on the platform.
Additionally, the original MC Heli mod, which was uploaded as a .zip file, is still available on CurseForge. This highlights an inconsistency in the application of rules. I understand that CurseForge once supported zip mods but has since disallowed them. However, this policy change has created a hurdle for mods like mine, which need a different structure due to the complexity and scope of the project.
My concern is that these restrictive policies, especially when inconsistently applied, make modding on CurseForge more difficult and discouraging for developers. If this continues, it will push more modders to consider alternative platforms that offer greater flexibility.
I would appreciate if CurseForge could re-evaluate the process and consider the diverse needs of the modding community. Creativity and innovation are at the heart of modding, and supporting those efforts should be a priority.
