#Achievement Idea: Flying on Instinct

In a similar vein to the driving stick achievement, this achievement would be done through flying without a HUD, either having the computer turned off in OMS or having no HUD installed.

The intention behind this achievement is to help players try to work their ship without the numerous sensors they have access to, and instead rely more upon instinct. It's not going to be as tough as without an AP as that's still available, so would absolutely need similar restrictions by having a minimum velocity limit, and/or adding another factor such as increased time flying HUD-less, like an extra 5 or so mins on top of the 15 of the driving stick achievement

I feel it would help reduce the frustration of microwaves, as it would incentivise being able to fly without the comfort of the HUD before it becomes a necessity during combat.

I don't mind the achievent but if flying without instruments is important it should be explicitely indicated to the player somewhere so they know it is possible and it is left to the player whether to practice it or not.

yeah, that's probably a better way of going about it, but I didn't have a good idea of anywhere else to put it. the tutorial doesn't really have much in the way of places to put info like that, unlike manual controls, and the user manuals aren't exactly read that much to have info on it there, so it was just about the first place that came to mind to state it's importance

Well, not everyone likes to discover things by themselves. Some players will look at the achievements to learn what they can do in the game. In some instances that can be as good or better than a tutorial. 😅

Here's an idea: make a race event where you can only compete without the HUD. A race against time from point A to point B should make it fun enough and also fit with what's already in place. That way there is a clear and consistent way to point players towards flying without a HUD that they can also ignore if they're not interested.
PS: considered making this into a new suggestion but I think it'd work better merged into your idea, so I'll leave it up to you.

ooh actually that's a really cool idea, I would not mind whatsoever if you make it your own idea as that's a really cool way of doing it

also, it would totally bring a new way to race to the game, as tbh i find the current way can be cheesed way too easily
