My PC wanted to play this module as teachers

They are too ThreeHouse-brained
So the question is of course,
Could I do this?
Do you think the structure of this module is mallable enough to do this, while retaining most of the combat and plot beat?

Should I do this?
Would I lose out on the main theme of the campaign, and/or soften the impact of the conflict in it? Making it unfun or miss the point?

How do I do this?
How much of the campaign would I have to change to do this?

Have you read the module?

Any module is “malleable” to some degree and you can easily reframe a lot of the student fights to mock battles between faculty and students (or to any context really. fights and NPCs are easily flavoured)

that said basically the whole plot is predicated on the PCs being students at the college , so at best you’d be writing your own campaign and stripping SOTW for ideas (which is fine and valid)

#

You can probably keep the general flow of events though

#

Maybe put more weight on the faculty characters

I think you could easily use the setting of the College to run other adventures there (the setting material is written to support that) but you would be missing a lot of the narrative punch of this specific mission series by making the protagonists teachers rather than students. The intent is to position the PCs as victims of the system of nobility and the social dynamics of the KTB despite their relative privilege

#

I would not recommend simply running the same narrative without any other changes, as it would substantially alter the power dynamics both with the system and with the NPCs

Yeah I think a lot of the later stuff is difficult if the players are institutionally entrenched

#

or even the whole relationship with Praya

One of the central messages of this module is "individual privilege is fragile and often transient, especially in comparison to institutions"

If you're specifically going for a three houses brained take, you could run the module as written, then angle for the party's reward at the end being a sort of teacher's assistant position

#

Like how byleth is roughly the same age as the students (in theory), but was given a teaching position as a reward for saving some of em from bandits

#

The events of combat 4 might also create some job openings

#

Then the post campaign stuff is the teaching campaign

I do agree with all your points, and yes I did read the module.

#

and thank you Ailyn, that is actually good point

I think if I am doing this, I will be making it something more like "teacher in training"
