You're right, since the power sword is dead in the middle and has dedicated horde and dueling stances.
love when the game bugs out
just had a mission get fucked cause the ammo containers we needed completely bugged out and we couldn't pick up like half of the resources available
restarted the mission and now all of the weapon pickups are fucked
lovely
Yeah, that was fun playing "dodge the sorcerer" for a elevator
it's really annoying that the game just fucks up completely when i try to quit out literally every time
For all the games flaws this has been my emotional experience with it https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Scr3bRXbA9o&pp=ygUZY3JpdGljIHRhc3RlcyByYXRhdG91aWxsZQ%3D%3D

Took me right back to 2009
yeah its quite a nostalgia trip
on mission 3 and the pickups on the elevator are STILL bugged
now neither me or my friend can pick up any of the weapons
the only good thing is that we have access to the ammo boxes now both of us
huh, I just had the crash reporter show up during the intros
and the intros kept running until I told the reporter to not send, which shut the game down
i'd honestly consider this a game breaking glitch low-key
we're just not able to finish this mission cause we are not able to use the resources
it's working after we restarted the mission
Is it for both of you or just them
Oh me and my friends had to glitch too
tho it was only the grenades and healing items we couldn't pick up
sadly don't know if there is a fix, we just powered though it (took us 4 tries, not fun)
AI companions being ass is a time honored tradition, like Coach walking off the roller coaster in L4D2
Tis criminal that there aren't enough phobos options to go 3 man phobos team
Melta Rifle is so good
Heavy Bolt Rifle seems unexpectedly weak, though
Like... it barely does anything that the regular bolt rifle doesn't, it feels like
He went off to be a one man cheeseburger apocalypse
Gadriel is really funny
For those we cherish, we die in glory!
that's all i got
they unfortunately aren't actually in the game
which is kinda goofy ngl
we got the uhhhh
Omega Marines???
but no Lamenters
not even a dlc chapter, like, come on
the DLC chapters are Ultramarine successors
i would have gotten the season pass if the Lamenters were in it
I suspect we're going to get a pile of Dark Angel successors in the season pass
so Lamenters not for a bit unfortunately
pain
also the season pass is fucking expensive
chances are, if we end up being lucky and the blood angels get a season that includes Lamenters somehow, i'll just buy that separately
The season pass is primarily cosmetic, free line has all the gameplay stuff
i am NOT spending 40 euro on cosmetics, in no universe is that happening
at least, i hope they will let you buy shit separately and not just through the season pass which is 40 euro
To be fair it is all the cosmetics. All of them. Forever
They might try to do all the first founding chapters...
yeah but i also payed 40 dollars for Shadow of the Erdtree
Very true
which was basically a whole ass game on its own
maybe in the future it will be worth it but i certainly don't think so for the time being
I just got gold edition before the price hike so maybe I am biased in favour of the season pass
i pre-ordered the normal version
gold edition is 30 extra bucks so less expensive than buying both separately
but still 90 euro for a game just for cosmetics
instead of the normal 60
might get the season pass at some point in the future if the game keeps getting updated and stays good
Gold edition used to be only £20 more
<@&1281758630688981034> anyone for Operations?
Or just before the EA
Lets go
I’ll be on in about 10 mins
80 bucks for game and season pass would be palateable for me
unfortunate i missed it
RAVKD
anyway we'll see how the game progresses
i might end up biting for the season pass at some point later so long as it doesn't suddenly change in price
T5T6k
In game its weaker than the bolt rifle but almost has twice the bolts and has extra pierce. I think it's weird too, but it did need to have a distinct role from the other bolt guns I guess
Its a horde suppression weapon, basically
i've been using Melta Rifle to just obliterate swarms
i kinda fucking need it cause me and my friend are duo on the highest difficulty
those constant checkpoints are a life saver
Chairon is basically only useful as a living reliquary equivalent to revive us when we need it
for a sec i thought you meant you were doing operations at the highest difficulty\
im pretty sure those require/highly recommend having classes up to a certain level, with some upgraded guns n stuff
nah the campaign
Heavy Bolt Rifle is fine, especially upgraded.
The Auto Bolt Rifle is the one that I haven't really found a use for.
im a big fan of the basic bolt rifle so far
Considering it has less power, accuracy, and ammo count than the heavy
Melta Rifle + Laspistol + Chainsword is my favourite combo
the auto shoots fastest, so is most comfortable of them all for hipfire spraying and prayin
My favorite is honestly just the stock Bolt Rifle if I'm running Tactical
same
DIJQ5
been using laspistol to pop big enemies and just butchering small hordes with Melta Rifle
You can tap fire it and have it be essentially a marksman rifle
chainsword 3 hit+stop is goated
For heavy, I'm pretty much exclusively Heavy Bolter
I am uncomplicated. I like the dakka.
laspistol?
Yes
yeah
thinking of the other 40k game, Darktide lol
the loading screen is the exact same
funny thing is. high level operations are easier with 2 players and a bot
cuz the bots cheat ,they barely take any damage and actually do shit compared to the campaign bots
personally im waiting for someone to load up modded XCOM 2 with space marine characters and make a "i think theres something wrong with my copy of SM2" joke
yeah i was thinking that
having played on Angels of Death
Chairon is NOT taking any damage at all
in 1 second my healthbar will halve as soon as a nid gets close
I just need somebody to make a handy Dawn of War soundboard.
Chairon will wade through 500 nids all attacking him and get jump attacked 5 times and take no fucking damage
So whenever I get knocked down, I can spam my teammates with "BROTHER I AM PINNED HERE"
do you get the lethal damage thing in operations too
MOrtal wounds?
that yeah
Yes
makes sense
And how many times you cna go down depends on the difficulty
i see i see
yeah the only reason we've been able to actually win is just the constant fucking checkpoints
Also the joys of leveling up moving up a difficulty level, and learning that different difficulties haeve different enemy spawns
they've been a godsend
Or "Oh fuck, that's a Hellbrute"
rather a ||hellbrute|| than 3 ||terminators|| honestly
though last mission we did learn about what Aurora is
which made me think "yeah, we're going to see some chaos in this game huh"
is ||helbrute|| a spoiler? I was gonna say I love the way the game presents a ||helbrute|| to us
legitimately scary enemy
i had no idea we would see that much chaos shit so i'd say so?
i thought i might get to see some marines at best
the follow up would be are we keeping this channel spoiler free or nah?
Cause the game has only come out for like 3 days or so right?
The codex astartes does not approve this action
I started the final mission last night but couldn't finish it before bedtime, I sure hope my co-op buddy can load in from the same checkpoint...
the entire arc on the last planet is one giant mission
so far best way i can describe him is as an annoying younger sibling who keeps pesteting you(in this case the you is Titus)
I found it really funny how he's like gossiping to Chairon about how Titus is firstborn and Chairon looks at him like
Yeah lol
"you can't just ASK someone why they're not born Primaris"
It's very funny
He's hogging all the good interactions (idk about the Operations ones I've only successfully finished one)
Doing it solo is a struggle, the bots don't know how to cover you on the objective
it went a lot smoother yesterday after my second battle brother got his connection issues sorted out and we could have a full squad
I would not want to play the pyreblaster gimmick missions solo :/
Yeaaaah that would suck
I'm playing duo on highest difficulty with my buddy
Which is why we've not gotten so far, among other things
kinda funny how rare this is
It's even funnier when Sniper is extremely good too
Yeah they're kind of weird to play because you use your pistol so much
But they're very good
Yeah, the precision weapons in this game fuck
The other nice thing is that the bolt pistol is real good
I'm confused why they can't get the heavy bolt pistol though
The Vanguard's Instigator Bolt Carbine can take a Warrior to execution range in five well aimed trigger pulls
Maybe four, I haven't done exact tests
The 2 Armour can make it a little tricky but I've had a lot of success
Plus they get the cool Reiver helmets
I've mostly been playing Tactical, Assault, and Sniper
I want to try more out but the grind is real lol
Yeaaah
I've been doing Heavy and Vanguard for the moment
Heavy is extremely fun, although it suffers from only really being able to use the Heavy Bolter off the rip
I've heard assault really suffers without perks
The other two suffer from pretty extreme ammo economy issues
But also, having used the power sword in campaign, I'm now all in for bulwark
The power sword is so good
The hit pause hit finisher is so cool
Hammer seems a little underwhelming, at least at level 1
A lot of the weapons gain a lot of stats with rank ups
The standard issue ones are kinda peashootery
Mm, yeah
The issue with the instigator is it's fighting with the Melta for Vanguard's primary slot
And inimagine the assault getting hyperarmor while charging will be useful
I'm fine with that, the Melta is good but it's not overwhelming to the point where I don't want anything else
Melta lets you full heal
?
Contested Health is bugged rn
The game only checks if you have contested HP and doesn't check the healing you get when you attack with it
So if you deal enough damage in a single hit you can overheal the contested HP
It's dumb
That's probably not gonna last long haha
But like I'm the only person talking about it lol
Maybe it has good perks but I'm kinda confused by the bolt carbine for sniper
Since it feels like it benefits very badly from the cloak
I'm not that desperate to push difficulty that I'm gonna change weapon over it
Basically
Yeah some weapons (thunder hammer) really need it
Power Fist gets it natively but its hard to make use of without just fucking dying lol
Yeah
Bolt Carbine feels like it defeats the point of Sniper lol
I hope fist is [has] good [builds]
My guess is that since you get a lot of recoil control its a CC and better ammo economy weapon
I guess the carbine is if you wanna break stealth with combat knife?
I think the bolt carbine is meant for sections where you expect to just always be in the shit
But like... the BSR and LF are super good and super not weapons other classes can really replicate
Maybe, I think the Kraken handles a lot of those situations ok
I think with Camo Cloak acting as a deaggro tool you should be able to use your big guns wherever, unless it's a really tight snafu
How big is the damage boost from camo cloak?
Yeah, most people take the 75% buff
It's only on the first shot
but with the Las Fusil that's all you need
Anyone have a good repository of the perks and weapon traits out of game?
Searching for one is miserable you just get ai build guide slop
I think it increases it
Makes sense
I was wrong about there being no primary gold! The Iron Warrior color set has it and there is retributior gold too, but it's very dull.
Almost bronze or copper.
<@&1281758630688981034> anyone for more ops?
Oh right. The operations jetpack is so shit compared to the campaign one
Or the MP one
Is that the moving platform where you need to ||protect the chains||?
That one is bugged heavily, you need to complete it one try and it's worth lowering the difficulty. The crates on that segment also don't provide cover and enemies shoot through them in addition to the issues with pickups, weapon spawns, and them just forgetting to give you ammo and weapons.
The PVP jetpack is super good
3 charges, decent recharge time
Unparalleled mobility
I do get they want the Operations jetpack to not break the mostly ground-bound level design but having more uses of it at a shorter cooldown would be great.
Assault gets perks relating to perfect dodges so they basically want to ignore the parry mechanic.
bizarre?
you can hover im pretty sure? now im doubting myself lol
I totally understand the cooldown, I just think it doesn't give nearly enough height
but i do believe you get a bunch of extra cooldown as you level up
like ability cooldown stuff
the low jump did feel a bit silly
but i get it
I’ve tried it and it just didn’t do anything
There’s some sources of it but surprisingly little
Perks let you get a total refresh on a perfect dodge
I think assault rules in PVP but it’s my least favorite operations class
It might be one of those classes that needs deep investment to really click
I was gonna main it in ops but I miiight move to bulwark
Heavy has soooort of the same problem with its alternate weapon choices
But it also has the Heavy Bolter as a really stalwart baseline option
Only on jump pack dash perfect dodges
oh lovely quote from a traitor :3
Yeah, and has a better windows iirc
he was real as fuck for that line tho
The Ultramarines, apparently
I'm pretty sure it's actually a generic bark for the librarian in dow1
But the campaign lib is a traitor, so
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I think they're being cute with the attribution
I need to test the hover thing
Winking at the camera
There’s no perk for it so maybe try r button just wasn’t working
same button as sprint for PC
I use the aim key for it haha
I think assault is my fav PvP class
yeh it think its cute :3
The mobility is great
i should try the PVP sometime
And there’s a fair amount of verticality on the maps to use it
It’s a little tacked on feeling but continues the trend of space marine 1’s weirdly unique and compelling PvP gameplay
The TDM mode is kind of butt though - just deathballing
The CSM voice lines also fucking slap
I love the world eater so much
The Alpha Legion sniper is the most calm and rational CSM I've ever heard
Straight up chill dude
For me it often feels like tactical just carries me. Though assault has been my highest high, because you have so much positional power
I think the pvp is a little barebones rn but those bones are solid. The maps are generally well designed with multiple angles and verticality
They have something super solid to keep building from
Tactical is super good in pvp
Their ability to check corners and boost damage rules
what do people think about Heavy overall?
I like them in PVP but they need buddies
Not that independent
Which isn’t unique - tactical and Bulwark also want buddies
I’m less sold on them in operations but that’s just because they feel so ammo constrained without perks
In Ops you are basically mainlining heavy bolter until a certain point
But that's also like, more than good enough a lot of the time? It chews through basically everything
I’ve heard the HPI is good
At level 10 you get the multi-melta ammo refund when you kill more than 5 dudes with it
And then it's crazy
Yeah it’s the only weapon which approaches the red barrel damage
Which is a high accolade I think barrel explosions might be the biggest single damage instance in the game haha
Based on how they chunk fexes anyway
They do a fucking lot
The meta is still shaking out, but the heavy is a newby grinder imo.
A lot of unwary melee classes expect it to get stunned when they hit by they don't, and the HB is a chainsaw. The heavy is the undisputed master of ranged trades and will outright dare you to try and measure up.
That being said, for all that power, it has powerful vulnerabilities to getting flanked or caught out
Ahh my b. For ops so far I see them as crowd cleaners and team supports. A lot of their team abilities rock, and they easily top ranged damage on the score card; but they are not for the faint of heart, you absolutely need to be able to perfect dodge/parry to survive
The HB gets way better as you master it and can steroid its damage, and I like the plasma but it's ammo pool is lacking baseline
The MM is amazing much like the melta on vanguard is, but they have fewer tools to close distance. It's a lot easier to keep yourself safe with it though
If you run plasma or mm you gotta get real comfy rocking and rolling with the bolt pistol for minor engagement
Plasma is real rewarding when you see those piles of like 6-12 warriors
I haven't levelled it much, but Heavy Plasma and Plasma Pistol felt great versus Thousand Sons as well
Rn I'm trying to level the hb so that it can be my Swiss army knife
Hoping to just steroid damage and accuracy
I think the ammo count is broadly acceptable
Though really my main is the vanguard atm, love it
I've been splitting my time between Tactical, Vanguard, and Bulwark
Still not great at Bulwark though
I'm trying to level the occulus bolt carbine atm despite thinking the melta is just the superior choice atm. I looked down the line and you can get the bolt carbines firepower really really high
The block/parry setup is a bit fiddly
That's the issue that's really turned me away from bulwark
The block/ parry thing
I've felt more at home with assault
Speaking of which, what do the defense types mean??
I saw the chainsword has like
Block, Balanced, Fencing
Block means you can't parry anymore iirc, balanced means you can do both and have a smaller window for parry's and fencing gives you a much larger parry window
(I don't like block, but I guess you prefect dodge more often it works out)
If you*
I also saw that with mastery, the chainsword can get more firepower than the hammer and fist; which I thought was crazy
Not there yet, but I love assaults having the running attack boost
Combo'd with the fists running attack
Superman punching everything
There’s a weird charge up build for power fist in there somewhere
Aka voles
Correction: has anyone else experienced the game constantly crashing and just being totally unable to play
No, after some initial instability until I updated my graphics driver and had the shaders pre-created, it's been smooth. (Except that one time, where the crash reporter somehow triggered while the game seemed to be running fine, then closed the game upon clicking "don't send". But that was during the intro logos, so whatever.)
Haven't had issues, just took quite long on initial install
(weirdly way way smoother than Darktide or HD2)
I'm not playing on a very high end rig since my computer's 4 years old, only performance issue I got was some in-engine cutscenes looking kinda low-poly while playing co-op
And yeah I've crashed less than in Helldivers 2
This morning the servers seemes bit unstable
actually haven't crashed yet but give it time
I'm on a really high end machine but I alt tabbed one and now I can't play the game at all
Before that it ran beautifully
Which processor do you have?
Getting a lotta lag today, anyone else?
Amd Ryzen 7
Verified game files and restarted steam?
Still need to do that actually
I'm far in tje game but i'm already loving it
I mostly think it's weird and a bit of a shame how many bolters we got that are barely different from each other.
Did we really need 4 or 5 steps of "this trades accuracy and firepower for RoF"? Bolt carbine, occulus bolt carbine, auto bolt rifle, heavy bolt rifle, bolt rifle.
Leaving out the bolt rifle (because of course the basic allrounder needs to exist), did we really need 4 steps of this? Wouldn't 2 more have been sufficient?
Like with the sniper weapons, where we have bolt sniper and las fusil, plus the stalker as a DMR, and arguably the instigator carbine.
That's good variety, all of these are quite distinct in their applications.
Melta, obviously, that's got a very clear niche. Plasma too.
Marksman bolt carbine... Okay, makes sense once you look at the classes, so you can have a "stalker bolter but for the phobos class" weapon. Plus, it is rather different still.
But from that first set of five, I'm thinking I'd rather have swapped some stuff out or modified the stats somewhere to give a bit of a different vibe.
Maybe instead of the Heavy Bolt Rifle, bring in the Executor Bolt Rifle and have it be a stepping stone in the direction of the stalker - lower RoF but bigger bang.
Give the occulus an IR sight, to reflect all the sensors.
Something, anything, to make them more distinct.
Not that I'm not enjoying the game, to be clear, it's just idle thoughts.
Marksman carbine is not a marksman weapon, interestingly
hello
Did I mix the names up? It's the semi-auto carbine isn't it?
It gives phobos a slow but higher damage option, is what I meant.
It's actually not available in Operations, Vanguard has the Instigator, Occulus and Melta Rifle
Huh
Instigator is the closest they get to a precision weapon but it's really good
That's a weird choice (Edit: not making Marksman available to them. The instigator is obviously an appropriate choice.)
so does everyone else have like a weird 2-3minute span where they're stuck on the barge with no ui before loading into an operations mission?
kind of assumed this would be fixed after EA
Yep
We managed to complete it
But that shit was buggy as fuck
You gotta move into the loading zone where the Thunderhawk was to trigger the loading screen lol
Evasion+tactical ambush seems like a fun sniper combo
perfect dodges give stealth, melee which breaks stealth deals +100% damage
anyone wanna play?
That remind me that in every "The space shark are sacry - 40k lore" video out there. To illustrate tyberow they use a Gura fan art
Litteraly this pic wwith a termy helmet
Tyberos...
tyberos with a trident is an idea
he's got Hunger and Slake tho, they're cool enough
I would kill for a couple more shades of purple in this game
i would love some more yellows so i can do a better Lamenters cosplay
grenades feel a little too good in pvp
the first season is all about Ultramarine successors, hopefully we get a similar update but for Blood Angels
I reckon after dark angels next season
would be fun
honestly if we get lamenters at that point and i'm still deep in playing the game, i might just get the season pass
I hope we get more customisation for chaos marines, because I'd love to make some Fallen
(beyond just a colour swap)
yeah
more actual like, armor customization
would be nice
currently it's just like, some basic level up armors for each class and colorswaps for the chapters
give me pot belly death guard.
i would greatly enjoy a beaky helm
Maleum Caedo cossplay when?
truly
I keep trying to come up with cool colour schemes and ending up with black and gold, or white and gold
Scythes of the Emperor?
They got mostly eaten by Tyranids, got a whole bunch of new marines from Cawl, then the last firstborns got killed by a bunch of genestealers protecting Cawl while he was doing stuff.
Tbh, common fate for Ultramarine successors
Lamenters almost met the same fate
I mean
thats just Lamenters
common Lamenters L and all that
tho IIRC they finally are off their Crusade
And are starting to replenish
Can't be the unluckiest chapter if you are no longer a chapter after all
truly
their unluckiest quality is that they never die
i'm happy to report that my first game on the side of chaos (i played a death guard) was a victory
turn towards my Mortarion Mini "I mean yay and ?"
Keep at it I suppose. You do you boo.
For the dark gods
anyone up for a game?
yeah i'd be down
me

nah im ok just gotta play safe and clean up the parries
me and my friend have been playing on the hardest difficulty and that urge has been violently beat out of me
we exit every single encounter absolutely fucked up barely alive
You went from lore-accurate space marines to tabletop-accurate space marines
those nids have fucking hands lemme tell you
we also make extreme use of every fucking checkpoint
more often than not we get absolutely bodied and have to restart
Oh in campaign, I thought you were complete maniacs and doing top-level operations
nah
we might tho
my friends are all difficulty nuts so we usually go into games on whatever the highest reasonable difficulty is
we do skip out on like, ironman difficulty stuff where the run ends if you die, because honestly it's not particularly enjoyable usually
but other than that we usually full send it
i think with operations, itd be a deathwish to go into top difficulty with unupgraded gear
and also just not that fun, because everything would probably be a massive bullet sponge
Ruthless is pretty fun and not bad once you have the gear and perks
Because higher difficulty is absolutely a stat check
You just
flat out don't have the tools without those upgrades tho
And have zdps
interesting
Honestly, idk if there are any enemy health increases
(they absolutely have damage increase ofc)
It's just
there is a very real stat check when you have to deal with 10 rubric marines v 3
yeah i just figure that with the damage values changing from like 2 to 13 over the course of a weapons experience/upgrade track
there is a reason it does that
on the difficulty curve
beyond just making you absolutely destroy literally everything
the difficulty level probably accounts for you having a bolter that is shooting sniper rifle level rounds per shot on full auto
at higher difficulties
if it didn't, i think higher difficulties would be kind of a joke
It’s hard for me to tell but yeah
You need to kill fast because the spawns go sicko mode
lmao
it was extremely good
||Brother Dreadnought|| deserved more screen time, it was fantastic
<@&1281758630688981034> Anyone for ops?
Yeah just let me get some water and boot the game up
yeah fair enough doing same
I can also join to round things out.
PT9XY
Anyone up for marinating in space?
<@&1281758630688981034>
oh fuck yes this game was incomplete until I learned I could play the Skull Bearers!
Yeah, you can color each limb, each pauldron, the helmet, the backpack, and chest diffrent colors.
Sadly you can't make just the hand red, but you can make the left arm red?
Big red power fist is very doable is all I want to point out.
Sadly, I'm not really a fan of the Power Fist
game keep crashing on startup for me, anyone encountered a fix?
Did you verify your files?
Also, to the folks playing Assault like @proper cosmos I know you were having issues with the class and honestly, as much as I hate to say it, the issue may be with the Power Fist
I'm using the THammer rn and it just pulverizes shit left and right
The basic light attack covers more than a 180 degree angle around you, its crazy
Oh the hammer rules
THe problem is the class perks, separate from the weapons
the powerfist does seem real anemic
yep
may be a reinstall situation if its consistent
It isnt
Yall talking in operations? As far as I can tell, the fist is fine. Just a change in playstyle a bit
You wanna be doing a lot of running attacks
I do love me the chainsword though
Ironically I find the hammer a little slow, such that I take a lot of extra hits that I don't want to be. That being said, all three rock
I'm mostly dedicated to the CS cause I can see it's damage at relic level is bonkers
I feel like those numbers aren't reaaaaally representative of the final damage
assault really feels neutered in Operations, compared to the other modes
love it in PVP, but I'd rather play anything else in Operations
I really don't agree
What's wrong with the Assault?
the jump pack is worse
that's not a point of opinion, that's a fact. You don't go as high, you don't go as far, you don't stay up as long and you can't get more air-time with shift. it seems knee capped to prevent boundary breaks
yeah it's weird that the pvp jump pack gives you the full suite of abilities but the operations one is so limited
If Ops Assault had the capabilities of Assault in other modes it'd just be the best class
Period
the reason it feels worse don't actually matter to me
I like the other classes plenty, I'll just only use Assault in PVP
but it feels like a shame I don't like my favourite class in coop
eh, there are ways to balance it imo. give it a longer cooldown / shorter cap on the uses maybe
then it just feels worse in the other direction
The problem is that the ops assault pack barely gets you over your base height
Like if it had the full story mode power, yes, that would be busto
But it has fewer charges, longer cooldown, and doesn't go even half as high
I dont't think I'm gonna convince people of my view, so fair enough
Like if it went a few meters higher, so it doesn't get caught on goddamn everything, that'd be fine
Like
That? That is too high to jump up
that's why I think it was nerfed specifically to prevent sequence breaks
I think those numbers are made up or something, same as the “10% more damage” stuff
That isn't a sequence break!
That shit feels way bigger than 10%
There are stairs right next to it!
I also wish Vanguard got wall sticks in operations
I miss my rollout flanks from MP
that's not what I mean, I mean that if it could jump that high then they might be able to skip bits of some levels
but still, I'd prefer invisible walls to this
Yeah thats my exact feeling
Oh, therre are unvisible walls
You can't jump over certain gaps
or down ledges you can just step off
interesting fact I've noticed actually, is if your landing icon isn't over certain areas, you can't jump at all
like there are jumps across gaps you can make, but not if your "cursor" is somewhere you're not supposed to be
the three platforms at the oil refinery at the end of the first operation
you can jump from one to the other, but only if you point your cursor to it
And god forbid the cursor play nice
i have A-ranked the trials for all of the classes now and bought some more color stuff
my lamenters cosplay is now a little bit better
game still crashes every time i try to quit out
Scared that space marine 2’s large popularity is gonna lead to a new DoW like Warhammer fandom cohort of people who think the Ultramarines are cool
DoW?
Dawn of War
Dawn of War
ah
It crashes everytime I try to launch it so we balance it out
the Ultramarines are a bunch of squares and their dad is to quote Konrad Curze, an "avenging bean counter"
and yes that is a direct quote from Curze
Wasn't conrad a traitor iirc?
🥰 whoa fr
yeah
he's the dad of the guys who like to skin civilians for fun
Also yes ultrasmurfs are squares
iirc Konrad had the funny future sight and it drove him batshit insane
pretty sure he's dead if i'm not remembering things wrong
a Callidus Assasin executed him
He’s one of the “humongous asshole” traitor primarchs not a “tragic figure” traitor primarch yeah
debatable
He’s one of the most definitively dead primarchs
he kinda was completely fucked by his future sight
since he could only see negative outcomes or some shit iirc
but he is also a tremendous fucking arsehole yeah
reminder that his kids are the ones who skin people for fun, and that wasn't a falling to chaos thing either
I feel like ultramarines are cool though. I'm a space wolf fan, but ultramarines aren't lame
yeah kurze just impales a bunch of people on spikes
i'm a Lamenters fangirl so you won't catch me rooting for the Ultrasmurfs
Eh I'm not of the mind that I have to dislike other chapters to like the one I like most
though now that Robot Gorillaman has Ultradepression™️ he is slightly more interesting
mostly think they are kinda boring cause they are always the "best of the best of the best" and just win everything
I think a lot of the newer people entering into warhammer lore also don't have to live through the Matt ward Era of space marines and ultra marine superiority
my boys are literally gods least favourite loser squad who get completely fucked up any time they do anything as well
See they haven't really been matt ward ultra marines in forever
But that rep sticks with em
yeah I'm not exactly going to bat for the UM here but they're not the writer's specialest favourite boys forever now
and haven't been for quite some time
let's not pretend they are
I actually do like the Ultramarines a lot
Like Calgars modern claim to fame is getting his own ass entirely kicked to win major battles
even in this game the 2nd Company takes severe casualties by any standard
He doesn't even have arms or legs these days
Which ironically makes them being the posterboys a little sad for me since it means they get less of that unique ultramarine character since they are just “standard template space marine”
yeah I want more of the cool bits to shine through
waiter, more roman aesthetic please
(I will stand by my thought that Imperial Fists make better "standard" marines even though Ultramarines invented the codex Astartes)
Imperial "gosh I love bolters" Fists
them being the standard marines would make the Black Templars a million fucking times funnier
More axes!
yes please
The problem with standard IFs is that that will trick new players into trying to paint yellow
:p
lmao
pain
gods i really want to have a few Lamenters
but they also have one of the fucking worst paint schemes ever
Like my favorite chapter is the space wolves. A. Because they are so incredibly silly in both concept and execution and B. The silliness meter wraps back around to cool semi frequently;
But I'm also a big fan of the White Scars, the Iron Hands, the Ultramarines, the Rav- pretty much all of em. I'm not that interested in the dark angels though
White scars are out for the same reasons
Imagine if putting on the white scars scheme made you minutely faster
Loyalist wise, Lamenters are peak
I love the Dark Angels. The cool knight aesthetic, the ridiculous catholic guilt that really defines them, the "we're totally not a legion" thing where they and their successors have a single organisation, I dig the robes too
💯
robes over armor is just an awesome aesthetic
how i wish i could change the fabric color in the game...
Traitor wise, Iron Warriors easily top my list
Blood Angels
Love the intersection of Angelic, noble artists with literally bloodthirsty maniacs
Angels and Vampires: Both Bishonen™️
I'd like them more if the colour scheme weren't All Hyper Aggressive Red
There is campaign camo for that at least
another awful color scheme is the Marines Malevolent
hazard warning sign looking mfer
Tbf I think the iron warriors have the hazard tape trademark
that is true
They do and it's peak
But no those mm are pretty ugly
Not good
I tend to give blood angels a gold trim, rather than the default red
it looks a lot better
Also boy do some ops suck with melee heavy comps
Assault/bul/vang vs ||helldrake|| seems not great
Heavy bolt pistol is good, but not that good
My fav secondary so far is Plasma Pistol
love the plasma pistol/power sword combo for the bulwark
I'm a big fan of the chainsword due to the stomp it has
I do like how the heavy attacks for the chainsword are all just space marine brute force
no fancy sword stuff, just space marine to the face
Honestly I think my distaste for DA comes from them getting like... a gamut of tactical styles in their tabletop offerings in lieu of other chapters begging for some love, moreso than disliking the DA directly
Woops
Honestly something that trips me up with the power sword is that it can't do a non combo heavy to get an easy gun strike
yeah, that's really a problem with like, the big few chapters of space marines
The chainsword and the knife both can like, snack a gaunt off the cuff and get a cheeky pistol shot in
but then again, that's a problem with space marines/the imperium in general, in that they get more stuff than other factions
Easy armor segments
I've not really tried the knife yet, how is it?
It lacks crowd clear, but it's extremely fast; once you get some mastery with it, it can be wicked
I'm maining it on my vanguard
Cause it combos really nice with the increased perfect parry window
its biggest advantages are how fast its heavies can come out and its general speed
but it has no flashy area clearers really
so you gotta be careful about getting surrounded
my main use for it is i can hunt down warriors and other high health specials quickly using my zip line and a barrage of lights and heavies
I was thinking of doing some ops as Vanguard, so I'll give it a try
for anyone who has played assault
can i remove the like
jump pack marker thing that's active whenever i'm just running around
cause if i can't remove it i'm going to have to change class tbh
it's really fucking annoying
well
guess i'm not playing Assault
i don't even know why it's constantly active, it doesn't make any sense
You can get a lot of the assault experience without that with Bulwark at least
it just annoys the fuck out of me to have a glowing orange marker constantly blinking on the ground wherever i look
Yeah that’s valid it’s pretty intrusive
i would play vanguard but the armor having that ab thing instead of having proper armor
also kinda just annoys me
That's how I feel about Sniper's lack of helmet
i got the helmet from the black templars tree specifically to not have any class with no proper helmet
At least give option
I will say that Vanguard is fucking fun
gonna play bulwark
Probably my favorite class
vanguard doesn't have the funny plasma pistol
Vanguard with a Melta is delightful
i will probably try vanguard even if it looks dumb
Kind of weird only Jetpack gets heavy bolt pistol
It is a real draw
why does the tactical class not get plasma
Vanguard keeps tricking me into thinking it moves faster because it has a different walking cadence
Or sniper with no heavy bolt pistol
I love the phobos abs
yeah
Its the best part
the abs are just dumb, why would you have less armor
Presumably it's so the reivers can do callisthenics
it's the same reason i get annoyed whenever they take off their helmets in the cutscenes
Idk
I assume for the armor it's a mobility thing
probably
Hard to do the flying kick pose with big meaty torso
Yeah I dont think the regular space marines are very good at bending
Yeah Phobos is the cut down quiet “stealth armor”
Phobos probably go prone more often
The abdomen is the least bad part except for the limbs to get shot so if you wanted to take out any armour on the torso
It'd be there
Irl its actually very bad to have stomach acid leak out but for a space marine their healing factor is wild so it's probably not that bad
Makes getting the Armor Boosts feel great
Honestly just love the armor system in general, exactly enough Doom (2016) juice
and Gun Strike not taking a bullet, blessed
Tbf space marines in the actual lore have an issue of not putting on helmets
ok bulwark is pretty fun
haven't done all too much with the shield but having a plasma pistol and a melee is good enough for me
gonna try vanguard
thankfully i have the Black Templars helmet unlocked
cause i really don't like the weird skull helmet that the Vanguard has
and i like the open top helmets it gets for its upgrades even less
I do wish the vanguard got a heavy bolt pistol, but they do get a pair of actual bolters while the assault has only the pistol
I'm in luck, I'm a big fan of the reiver helmet
any open helmet or no helmet aesthetic is instantly lost to me
And it's the only game one can play where reivers are good xD
i don't like it on principle
(Honestly giving tabletop reivers a melta rifle would be huge. They still wouldn't be great, but it'd be something)
I'm struggling to get gunstrikes with anything but the chainsword, tbh. Well, except for perfect dodges and counters, but provoking them with the melee weapons seems really hard and inconsistent.
my friend seems to have taken a shine to the Charcharodons Astra
So, on basic enemies, the chainsword and the knife can use a heavy from neutral to guarantee a gun strike
On heavier enemies you generally need paries or dodges
I notice on the power fist your running attack can semi reliably trigger a gun strike opportunity on basic guys
And I think the hammer is the same
I struggle most with the power sword as far as setting up for easy gun strikes
I think because it has no neutral heavy
but the reiver has a helmet...
but yea I love helmets more than no helmets
no helmet can be good, but helmet is peak
<@&1281758630688981034> its time
Melta Rifle is SUCH a good gun
Yeah!
man i wish you could change the cloth color on the bulwark
my world eaters guy would look so sick with a red tabard
I have made my tactical a crimson fist and my vanguard a wolf Spear
Made my heavy a red scorpion
all my dudes are world eaters lmao
So, I got forced to play a Tactical marine due to being dropped into a match with a Heavy and honestly
I really like the class and the weapon options, which surprises me because no one else seems to play it
You’re saying they’re perfectly average just like in the tabletop?
Well on tabletop they're not a thing anymore
are the servers fucked for anyone else rn?
Tactical fucks
I expected them to be kind of bland but the wide weapon selection and flexible options are just like “yeah I like to play space marine”
hah, nay, i am saying they are exceptional in all respects!
theyre the most "play how you want when you want" class imo
I think everyone goes "Oh, they are default. I not wanna play default. >:(" which er, admittedly I fell into but I guess I'll have to give them a review.
they're an everest instead of "normal guy" to put it in lancer terms
I do wish they got like
One(1) more pistol option, and also the combat knife purely for lore accuracy
But other than that, I like it
Honestly, they seem a bit more like Tactical Marine Sgts. than Tactical Marine Brothers, if that makes sense?
With the obligatory chainswords, yeah, I can see that
The auspex scan is also such a damage boost
And you can also do things like "yeah this one guy is taking quad damage" w/ perks
gods
this shit is fucking crazy
got to the ||burial world mission with all the chaos shit, fucking HELL||
i think this is the final mission of the game
but i'm not going to be finishing it until tomorrow
Yeah the final mission is a long one
Long is an understatement
we had to just get to a checkpoint and stop cause my friend needed to go to bed
we got to the point where ||We need to take out the last three pillars to stop the Aurora device||
further jet pack griping
The helipads at the end of Inferno?
gaunts are allowoed to jump between them
the jump pack isn't
wait what?
I can grapple across those gaps with Vanguard lol
I just need a victim
That's untrue, I've done it
Really? Maybe I'm aiming/spacing wrong
You need to pivot your aim up to get the maximum distance, but it's definitely possible
also the fact that you can parry out of attacks but not dodge I think makes fenncing weapons much better than trying to dodge
I think for slower weapons, absolutely
Which is a bit awkward, considering that a lot of the assaults weapons are very slow, and it has a lot of dodge related perks
Hang on
Does any melee weapon have a higher speed rating higher than 7+?
Unlocked relic weapons for the plasma cannon and plasma pistol tonight
why is Heavy Bolt Gun so weak
did they mix up stats for basic bolter and Heavy Bolt Gun??
It's not weak at all
it feels very weak against warriors and Rubicae
How are you using it? If you slam full auto against everything you're not gonna get anywhere
Go for headshots and fire in 5-6 round bursts
yeh but compared to regular bolter
Compared to the regular bolter it does the job very respectably, and it does far better against hordes
Throttling the rate of fire to maximize accuracy and DPS takes practice, but it's very powerful when you do
yeah like its good against gaunts and tzargors but it feels so much weaker against mediums
so im like misunderstanding the heavy part of the bolt gun there
Like I said, headshots, burst fire, it dings down mediums very competitively
Especially Rubricae, who seem to have a really high headshot mutiplier
yeah thats what im doing
Controlled bursts at the head, at medium ranges, using zoomed in heavy stance
But also, deleting majoris isn't really the boltgun's job so much
Deleting Majoris is the job of the Plasma Pistol
yeah i just mean what does heavy bolt gun do that regular boltgun doesn't do better?
Plasma, melta, chainsaw
It doesn't need to reload, it has far better RoF, it has better damage
oh right magasine size
It even has enemy pen with a perk
Also judging just off base weapon stats without considering perks and weapon traits is going to be a limited perspective
oh i don't mean stats
it takes 15-20 headshots with relic heavy boltgun to kill rubric marine on subtancial difficulty from what i counted
i haven leveled regular boltgun but from what i been told its on same tier around 6-10 headshots which is much more manageable
Right, and the regular bolt rifle has, baseline, a third of the ammo with a much slower fire rate and reloads
tbh i should prolly run Stalker boltgun on higher difficulties
wait do you mean the heavy bolter??
or the heavy bolt rifle
that the tactical has
Heavy Bolt Rifle
im not gonna blame you for that mistake but do try and make it more clear next time
because i had assumed you meant heavy bolter the entire time
i have not called it heavy bolter once
it's not hard to see why I might confuse "heavy boltgun" and "heavy bolter" though
in that case - yes the heavy bolt rifle doesn't seem great
its all good
miscommunication
heavy bolter on heavy seems pretty neat tho Multimelta is just better for hordes, especially with the ammo refund perk
not played much of it tho
Melta Rifle is my fav primary so far
Yeah melta rifle seems nutso
It's pretty whacky
Melta Rifle+Plasma Pistol+Chainsword is my god combo
Plasma Pistol is so fucking cracked against bosses
literally just melts when you do charged shots
for a lot of the campaign bosses i was just hugging the ammo box while aiming down sights with my charged plasma pistol
It's no heavy bolter but its nasty
i can't aim for shit so i don't really like using the bolters that much, funnier to go in with the melta and chainsword and pick off majoris with the plasma when possible
the one trial where you have to do 5 headshots was the bane of my existence for a minute
melta rifle on vanguard is very funny
i'm using it on vanguard actually
yee :3
i think the funniest thing about my Vanguard lamenters cosplay is that it's covered in Black Templars and Imperial Fist regalia
trying to custom paint sets is bit of a hurdle with how weird the unlocks are
I think it's still obvious it's a Lamenter and not an Imperial Fist
At least, i hope so
like generic company designators are mostly under Blood Ravens heraldry
It's weird yeah
The Deathwatch parts are just under random chapters
There also doesn't seem to be deathwatch parts for both arms and legs which is strange imo
Bruh
I kinda like the combat knife
i'm a chainsword kinda gal myself
i need the melee to pick up the slack against majoris and minoris whenever i'm low on ammo or need to reload and such
chainsword is good enough against crowds and single targets
Yeah, chainsword I think is actually really good
the 3 hit then stomp combo is god tier for dealing with minoris nids
chainsword is comfy as its same move set as in original
3 hit stomp can pretty reliably deal with smal to mid sized hordes
Chainsword is very versatile
I imagine the double stomp + the +50% radius perk will be hilariously good
yeah probably gonna go crazy
knife is great at fighting single mediums, but unfortunately they tend to have smoll guys with them so the chain sword stomp is kinda handy at making room
I guess against chaos you get less density
But then against chaos you don't get the synaptic shock
The weapon silos are weird to me
Powerfist being a clear weapon I'd just weird to me
And it really just feels like the bad thunder fist, being that they're both slow crowd control weapons with charge up play
Exelcept that the fist just had less reach
And neither generate many gunstrikeable staggers ime
Going chainsword I feel like I get more opportunities to get armor back with gunstrijes
Honestly I think Vanguard might be the class for me over assault
assault in PvE is kinda dissapointing
Assault is fun but unplayable for me
The little orange targeting thing on the ground that is active constantly when you play assault annoys me too much
apart from that one armor tick vanguard just seems much better in almost every regard
Hard disagree with that
The heavy bolt rifle’s hat is I think that it remains very controllable in long bursts
So you can actually rip through hordes pretty well like a baby heavy bolter
But I think it’s kind of a small niche because tac marine is not usually a dedicated horde control team member
I mean, I kind of enjoy it?
But admittedly that's because I usually play heavy bolter, well, Heavy.
I'm wondering what to swap it out for
Is the El Generico Bolt Rifle good?
Grenade launcher notwithstanding?
It struggles with groups because of poor rof but it’s solid
Oh yeah it’s not weak it’s just a role I think tactical is often not the one filling
Yeah if you check the stats, hbr has less firepower, more penetration, almost twice as much ammo in the mag. When using it you also notice it's not got a much higher rate of fire, meaning you can sustain bursts and stay in the fight for longer.
But it IS weaker that the basic bolt rifle on a per shot basis
It differs from the auto bolter in that the auto is about getting more shots burped out faster, and it is also weaker than the bolt rifle in terms of firepower
Incidentally I think I'm not a big fan of the auto or the carbine
Which carbine? There’s like 4
HBR also resists bloom better than pretty much any other gun which is nice
The one that's just called the carbine xD with the foregrip
The occulus is not my favorite necessarily either, but the basic carbine really feels like pissing in the wind or running around with a super soaker
I only used it once but it was knocking warriors into execute state pretty fast at short range
game anyone?
Really hope an update comes out soon so I can play
Heya, got the game!
Is the season pass worth it?
Kinda sad the color purple is behind the season pass, so I can't sons of the phoenix
I got it myself but i have plenty of disposable income.
btw anyone wanna play some ops?
i kinda want to get the season pass but i think i'll sit on it for a bit
see what happens in later seasons
I need to level up some first, i just have a heavy on lv2
i want to play the game more first
see how long i'm going to play it
40 bucks is
a LOT imo for just cosmetics
if you got the gold edition and payed basically only 30 extra that's probably more palateable
we can do low level stuff
Sounds good!
My code is:
KA6EY
id say put some hours int othe game before getting a season pass
an easy way to look at it is whatever your hourly rate is, put enough hours into the game that you could pay for the season pass before considering buying it
The season pass is pretty much just drip
So its kinda on how cool you think specific kinds of space marines are
Also we don't know what will be in the season pass, and neither do the developers yet
true
