Sorry for the random lore question but is there a chance helldivers are clones? I always wondered because when you drop in again you have the same armor you still have the same experience with all the weapons and you still have the same rank

What I find interesting is that in the first game we regularly lost the galactic war but in the 2nd one I don’t think that has ever happened
thats because it was a cyclical game mechanic and wasnt meant to be a linear narrative

HD2 is going for a linear narrative, and so a canon is established that we won HD1 on all fronts
I also remember it as much more difficult but idk if that’s the case
Helldivers were much less expendible in HD1 as well
still replaceable, but not quite so flagrantly toss-asideable

I'm not disputing the possibility that 20 secs were mentioned at some point but generally kriegers are less suicidal and more competent than helldivers
which is really reflecting poorly on helldivers
well, not the competence part, kriegers are thoroughly trained, not even a contest
but yeah
kriegers explicitly seek absolution in death and they approach it with more sense and results than helldivers who mostly want to live
Average guard in 40k is very well trained by today's standards considering many start very very young
if we gave stratagem balls to kriegers the war would be over last year
a lot less hype moments and aura farming tho
That is the fun part, the individual frontline guard is hypercompetent with the weakest weapons/armor
Helldivers are the reverse, we knew some gun handling as it's the norm for SE citizens, became 18, did the tutorial, got shipped off and given more explosives than sense
Longest I've had a Helldiver live was 5 missions
I could probably get a decent streak if I weren't playing for the bit
also instant death pits and getting stuck on terrain
the last game I played here I died to terrain four times and took little damage otherwise
the real enemy of democracy is dirt

The enemy can't kill you if you take more Stims and are democratic enough
stims are 95% of what makes helldivers tanky

fuzes are broken so it just donks things with direct hits
as an avid user of 40mils, arming distance vs bugs just means the grenade bounces of their forehead, flies straight up into the sky and then falls on your head, having travelled far enough by now to detonate
Or bonk it against the ground so it goes under the bug and explodes in the middle of the group

I’m thinking trench gun. We have an smg in the warbond, and already have a few battle rifle-type marksman rifles. A full-on assault rifle probably wouldn’t mesh with the theme. Some sort of shotgun would match the trench idea best

it has to stay cause they have the poi that requires digging for samples (or throwing an explosive or going prone and sticking your hand into solid earth, but shh)
it might switch to a secondary slot too, but tbh that seems like it might introduce massive amounts of jank considering secondaries were never an interactible item on the map.
So yeah, will probably stay a strategen slot thing
You know what I'd like? If you could switch fire modes by hitting the number for that weapon once it's equipped.

i find 500kg inconsistent
Instant power vs Sustained power
Orbital gatling is actually capable of destroying many things that eagle airstrike cannot in one go, cause it accumulates damage.
ie Gatling can destroy Squid Ships in one barage while Eagle Air strike can only do it if the shield is first broken.
On bugs Air strike can close bug holes very efficently, but gatling can lock down a Bug breach very well, etc
Gatling is very low CD and great at clearing enemy reinforcements
amusingly Airstrike and Gatling is actually my default loadout i fall back on when unsure what i need 😄
into squids i tend to go with 500kg cause it can destroy ships, but into both bugs and bots Gatling and Airstrike is very nice comfort baseline
Throw it on a bug breach and it basically kills anything that isnt a charger or titan
Airstrike/Strafe and gatling/gas are my togo
If you remember to use gatling/gas pretty much when it goes on CD and just throw it on anything group of enemy remotely threatening it does a lot for the team.
I like to think of it as a preventative measure. Could we have dealt with that group without it? Yes but we could risk someone getting ragdolled and one shot, team has to use ammo, someone might get hit and use a stim, or any number of nonrenewable resource. Also just deleting something on the way means you can shave time your team would have spent fighting
Also helps tackle "sticky" groups before they reach a dangerous mass
how often i just toss a gatling onto a random group of enemies that noticed me cause i'm more than 100m from the objective i am going to away

Gas strike I also like for similar reasons but it has an extra bonus of making heavies that it cant kill stupid. Hulk time was a lot easier when a bunch of hulks just were high on gas

While I do get it's technically not the same entrenchment tool on the maps I am a bit miffed I have to pay to use something technically in the game for free

Tbh I wish there was more stuff you could do with the entrenchment tool, like a proper side objective or digging up hidden supply caches of stims and ammo

can be loaded with slug that has each barrel hit like an amr, buckshot that has each barrel hit like a double freedom double barrel shot, birdshot thats like 4 rounds of breaker sprayandpray per barrel or rocket assisted discarding sabot thats three rounds of JAR dominator per barrel
downside is ammo is split between individual ammo for each, so you might have to use non ideal ammo for the situation

My headcanon is that Helldivers are so flashy and given so much firepower is cause it makes great footage for SEAF/Helldiver recruitment/idol worship propaganda and they're constantly recording from the super destroyer PoV.
And helldiver's operations is just parted of the PR budget
that's my assumption for why extract works the way it does as well
pelican 1 can plainly get there very fast to deliver vehicles, but that doesn't make for good footage
or why they bother with things like sending down a helldiver for 5 seconds just to get on the shuttle
callously, it'd be cheaper to just write off the currently deployed helldivers and revoke the reinforcement budget the second the mission's completed
but the helldivers and SEAF are more motivated if they get footage of "helldiver team returns" regularly
just pay no attention to whether it's the same team that dropped
they're in the same armor, right?
Also that the extract usually takes less time than the average lifespan of a helldiver :v

leveller OR eagle strafe + quasar
What are the weak spots for Vox again?

i actually feel like vox engines got nerfed cause it seems like you can kill them with a recoilless to a vent
The vents have a massive damage multiplier, so if they've taken any other damage, a recoilless shot does big numby
The other trick with them is to aim things like the leveler for roughly the middle of the body, where the treads connect with the upper body
Causes it to take immense aoe damage
close enough, welcome back deep rock weakpoint mechanics
(destructible weakpoints carry over all damage from a single hit meaning you can surgically KO a big enemy, unless someone destroys the weakpoints first with DPS, and now you gotta deal with the rest of their main health)
yeah basically you hit them with One Big Boom of any kind
and then any AT hit to a reasonable spot will knock them out
ive been doing VERY well with leveller or eagle to get them within quasar tap
i also had good success with OPS against them
the rate of fire is just a bit low

they do not, the have 100% damage transfer to main, so any AP6 weapon hitting the torso and undercarriage (which also have 100% damage transfer to main) doesnt see any difference
i think one thing id really want changed on the vox engines is heavily cutting the health of the turrets
they have 8000 HP, which means RR for example needs 3 shots to destroy, which is better off spent shooting at the head which has the same breakpoint and is fatal
the head is bugged, aint it?
sometimes it just doesnt kill when it should
so you can put more than lethal amounts of RR shots into it to no effect
best to just plug them in the waist/abdomen/groin zone with your AT

So, Vox are super broken on Commando missions
If they aggro on one player, they then aggro on everybody regardless of distance, armor, or line of sight.
So Stealth armor is completely useless
It'll cause a chain where they'll aggro on one person, kill them, then immediately beeline and aggro on somebody else, and so on and so forth
Like they'll literally start firing missiles out of line of sight on somebody who's respawning before they even get out of the pod.
not to mention their gatling guns play pretty nasty when it comes to stealth
btw, is it me or are those things spawning way more frequently than on cyberstan?

They just added a modifier to Charbal to make Vox Engines considerably scarcer
and it is noticeable
only 1 or 2 per mission on D10
That seems overkill. Like... The problem is more when they keep coming

i will defend dragonroaches there:
they are much more manageable and being independent of patrols/breaches means you can act much more targeted vs them
Its still scary if you lose track of them and they suddenly interfer with a bug breach, but thats way more interesting than 7 vox engines that you can't kill fast enough.
no need to be a downer, its nice to be able to play D10s without needing to build so hard into anti-Vox
I am glad that the game masters can adjust such things on the fly
im not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth with less vox's on 10's when they're like a hydra
Voxes need better ability to either disable their killyneess easier, or just have some actualv one shot skill shots available for the dedicated at weaponry, the way factory striders do

Just like reducing the HP of their turrets would do a lot, theyre 8000 HP rn so it takes 3 RR or 4 EAT/QC rounds to break them, which you could spend on actually killing the vox engine instead
I've seen that the Vox gatling turrets can die to medium pen, anyone had good luck with a primary that can handle those well? Tried JAR on a whim but that didn't really feel worth it. Also tried EMS strike on it but it seems like it's immune 😭

Youre not chewing through 11,000 HP with fire dot even with the multiplier
idk I think vox engines are way more killable than leviathans or dragonroaches
one solo silo or leveller either oneshots or leaves them on one rocket worth of HP
Really any medium pen primary will do decently, eruptor also does a decent job because its heavy pen on hit, you can senator them to death if you're desperate
vox engines also don't fly so things like hellpacks or strikes can actually hit them

Eh dragon roaches aren't too bad, it's just that you need different equipment than you usually bring for anti tank vs everything
the hmg turret tears both grounded and airbourne roaches apart, same with the rest of the bugs
the autocannon turrets projectiles fast enough to track it too
Emancipator is like 6 minutes of dead roaches
If you spot it early span fire into one wing while it flies tends to down it before it takes off again.

I don't think a lot of people tried the hmg turret after it got buffed cause it's so good

Encampment on bugs seems like a bold move unless you got good teammates that'd keep them off you or something to defend yourself while using it
it traverses fast enough to be able to deal with most things yourself
coupling it with a guard dog makes you into a monster though
for me it's that I usually play as a duo with a friend so it needs to be a mission type/enemy composition that's going to see regular use of a fixed emplacement or else it's competing with better uses of the slot
enemies also don't actively go for manned turrets anymore when unmanned, so just dropping one that might be useful later is great
I do use HMG encampments for illuminate if it's a defense or overseer ship mission type
Murders everything illuminate
But yeah you'd be surprised how fast it tears apart chargers nowadays
my groups goto anti roach is HMG
great utility against all ground types as well
But the when the call for a dragon gets made, 2 or 3 HMGs unload into it and it just falls in seconds
I use HMG emplacement every Illuminate mission I go on as long as there's no Leviathans

allowing me other heavy weapons
I don't even bring support to illuminate, I just pick up an MG off the street
factory is taken, now the slog to grind the last 25% and hopefully last few millions of agitators
If it gets liberated, that should also close the agitator gap.

its gonna be close to take the planet but we 100% not getting the agitator kills in time, was a good effort though, my head canon is they got radicals and agitators mixed up for amounts

The heavy bolter lays on bursts of fire into general stuff, autocannon puts repeated single shots on high value targets
Just cuz the BFGL can punch up to what the autocannon does is more of a tactical flexibility than its intended role

and the sterilizer just gets some more ammo and becomes the best at creating clouds
but if multiple gas morters or grenades or airstrikes all go of in the same spot, you get a cloud too
me dropping a gas minefield and then detonating it all at once with a 500kg to become the spore spewer

I haven't been able to try it yet but just like any other gas stratagem I think it'll be competing for best in show. Like orbital gas vs EMS, it actually kills the targets

It's nice having statuses get distinct textures, fire gets the Eagle Napalm while gas gets the gas mortar, and their orbitals play very differently
Fire gets flame turret as well but it gets that one for free because fire mines don't actually exist
Fire just has more options and gas is a bit behind
You can do a gas eagle different from napalm eagle, still distinct but has options
