https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_UkIfyJlaM I think this is the main one I used back in the day. Spoilers for gear at the end, but you can stop the video once he starts giving out builds using gear you haven't encountered. (and unlike the first video I checked, he doesn't have final boss footage in the first ten seconds...)
Thanks to Capcom for a copy of Monster Hunter Rise!
Rise to the challenge and join the hunt! In Monster Hunter Rise, the latest installment in the award-winning and top-selling Monster Hunter series, you’ll become a hunter, explore brand new maps and use a variety of weapons to take down fearsome monsters as part of an all-new storyline. The PC...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ny-6znb450 this one's also pretty good for a five minute overview
...speaking of weapon monsters, I just remembered my idea for an insect glaive monster. It's a wing-walking winged wyvern (same general body as Tigrex/Nargacuga, though closer to the latter). It secretes a nutrient-rich fluid from its skin, which causes hard-shelled beetles (I'm imagining around palm-sized) to naturally latch on all over its body to eat said fluid and thus form a set of scaled armor (since each beetle looks like a dragon scale with its wings closed).
It's heavy and slow, but if you damage a body part too much it'll temporarily shed its scale beetles on that part, reducing its armor there and creating a cloud of little sharp-shelled beetles which follows you around and tries to attack you until the wyvern calls them back. It can also shed all its scale beetles at once to become faster and more aggressive, with stuff like a leaping move actually making it glide fowards some distance before the attack lands. It can and will call back the scale beetles later.

Monster Hunter Wilds Gunlance Gameplay is on another level. Here's everything I learned about Monster Hunter Wilds Gunlance.

there's also a Caustic variant, which drips acid while unarmored. Its swarms of scale beetles dive-bomb at you once they get near you and leave behind an acid puddle instead of just being a swarm that follows you around persistently, but will also drop their puddle if you stun them by hitting them enough, or probably a flashbang/screamer would work. (Thought I hit send on this)
Oh I remember talking about this with you!
Fun idea, I still dig it
yeah, I thought I'd share it again.
Barclay was joking about konsu the other day, which reminded me of your idea! apparently they'd latch onto other monsters and make temporary armor? so that's some fun precedence for your design, plus maybe another potential variant.
I will have to check that out!
...hmm
Which of these ramp-ups should I go for?
Besides Affinity Boost, 4% affinity is barely anything, let alone on a weapon that already has fucking 30% at base
It's either hit harder or guard points no longer drain sharpness
...y'know, saying that makes me realize Defense Grinder is the superior pick here
Guess I answered my own question
That's fair
Though I will just mention that until you get to MR numbers usually your damage increases are better spent on raw increases for non-elemental weapons since it's not until you get to MR numbers that the crit multiplier really starts outpacing the Attack Up boosts
Aye, but losing less sharpness overall is a huge benefit
Especially when it's not losing sharpness to guard pointing, one of CB's primary mechanics
Oh yeah of course I'm not saying you shouldn't go for it I'm just saying for like future reference
Hmm
Debating if I wanna go for Great Wroggi armor for HR or Tetradon
On one hand, Wroggi benefits my rapidfire LBG playstyle more, but on the other, Tetradon is extremely fucking cool looking
I dig that sci fi heavy gunner look it has going on
insect glaive is fun
@hollow comet we're thinking of grabbing rise on PC. about where are you HR-wise?

yeah i'm pretty new to rise (and the series in general)
maybe I should play a few games without wirefall
to force myself to learn positioning and parrying (when applicable) instead of getting the equivalent of a guilty gear burst every 15 seconds
is up to you, wirefall will be useful later though
mhm
but i feel like
compared to my somewhat brief time in world
I'm playing way too 1-sided, not considering the monster, and getting slapped for it
it happened at the beginning of world too, but I eventually got used to finding windows
still figuring out a weapon to main as well?
yeah
LS is fun
I'm having trouble with ISS
played insect glaive for 1 hunt, it was pretty goofy (positive)
omg
I should make some quick sheathe gear
Insect glaive has some pretty unique progression too
I'm pivoting to GS/SNS for Wilds so I'm getting my practice in here
Mostly cause someday I want to play those in MHGU
anywho, we'll catch up to you in rise in a jiffy
:D
MHGU IG is weird
You gotta feed your kinsect different materials that you farm
And that's what levels it and what you feed determines it's stats
You don't just level it from a tree. You go - here little buddy, 10 speed jellies for this level because all I want is speed
And then you do tier level up when it ate enough
"You don't just level it from a tree."
Well you do actually, but in between you also feed em so two kinsects that just got to same place in the tree can have different stats based on what they were fed.
kekeke

Gunlance be eating a feast
its gonna be my secondary weapon
goddd it looks so sick
from what I heard, shelling is now tied to the attack value, with multipliers attached to it
example: lvl 1 shelling is a multiplyer to a gunlance's shot value
i think
Today, I take a look at when we go from being the hunted, to the hunter.
this is a cool vid

makes me wanna try world again
I haven't really seen much GL stuff from wilds (and can't atm), is it any more mobile than it used to be?
Side/back hops being primary mode of movement is probably my leaast liked part about GL.
Not gonna lie this was a very interesting way to touch up on Kinsect leveling.
Ah right, there were also stat targets to meet if you want to level Kinsect into certain types. And you could make better jellies to feed em, and you could only feed em X amount of times before level. So I think feeding them higher quality stuff mattered?
i am going to eat every youtube executive

decided to power through the preroll ads and got more ads 2 minutes in
Adblock
yeah im watching it in browser right now
but discord doesn't have adblock built in
and the fact that this happens is inexcusable on its own regardless of what tools I have to clean this shit up on my end
That is both very fair and correct
but also
immensly funny given your user name is Money.
didn't get it by throwing it away for youtube premium 😤
but yes I've heard before that I'm wildly leftist for someone who's really into wealthcore aesthetics
gold-plated toilets just hit different in fiction than in real life
What I find annoying is that every time I get an ad on a Youtube imbed it's always a fucking Trumpian one
Like personal feelings about the Orange Jackass aside, it being the same kind every time is obnoxious
i was getting harris campaign ads on my spotify all of last week 😩 I'm canadian and wasn't even in north america at the time, though maybe our data provider was routing it through their US channels or something
Holy shit
NOOOOOOOOOOO
On his way to join the seliana space Programe
💀
insect glaive is fun, except when the monster has a hitbox that's 300m above wherer they're actually attakcing
man
I'm sorry what. This is a thing?!
Also on the topic of current Youtube and the sea of ads. It reminds me of that one meme comic of a guy and a genie where the guy wishes to remove double ads and the genie agrees and wonders what the fuck is up with that and refunds the wish because it benefits him.
wooo
getting help from other people also helps a lot for Rampage
Aye
If you want I can help you kill it
My LBG build does RIDICULOUS damage when the Counter Signal fires
111 damage per shot and it's a rapid fire
seeing swords even resemble any normal size a sword could have just feels wrong somehow
alrighty, finally starting that new rise save
time to do all the tutorials again :')
In other games they'd be considered as a long sword
Anyway
I need to get the master rank kirin layered armor
is there like a mod or something i can get for world where i can craft or spawn in the kulve taroth weapons
and still be able to play online
Kulve still shows up every once in a while iirc, but I'm also not fully sure how hub quests work in there either
alas.. I am no world expert
Two weeks
The MR version of Kulve can be launched as a standard event quest
I say just wait a bit
Kulve weapons are good to have, but they're definitely not worth risking a ban for
yeah, there's a mod that adds everything to the seliana trader
including siege weapons I think
let me find it
Side note, anyone care to lend me a hand with a quest in Rise?
Nobody's joining to lend a hand
...fuck me I miss World's SOS flares, why did they go for this half-assed co-op instead
I gotta grind up to high rank unfortunately, but I'm almost there!
Piss
It's a 7 star HR quest too
Zin & Yang it be
I yearn for my old Gala suit drip
Wish i could help but i'm heading to bed rn
Gnite
I managed to get it just now, but I gotta do it again for the pants and gloves
👍
It's a fucking slog, but at least I get cool drip
And HR Zinogre bits
Desperately need HR Zinogre bits for decent melee armor
I'm just gonna use my Champion LBG for this, otherwise it's gonna take fucking ages
only had enough mats for 1 barioth armor with quick sheathe
helped a bit, but still too slow to use on reaction
😔
i still have not seen a single piece of icium, I should look up the mining spots in frost islands
problem is they generally need other people and its every two weeks :[
You can join Kulve lobbies once the siege rolls around again
MR Kulve can be soloed, and Safi was modified so it scaled with party size
safi speedruns are real cool to watch
the sheer control in the fight with one person is neat
chat am I cooking
can you get the weapons from the event quest?
like really i just want to make a good dual blades element build
i''m gonna watch some speedruns to get motivated

The pain of dual blades is getting every element from the gacha and them also having to be kjar ones
I am still missing 2 elements after a ton of grinding
I'm afraid I don't recall, it's been a long time. Check with the Melder though, they may have an option to turn Kulve parts into weapon drops.
I've reinstalled recently Rise so if you need help and I'm around I can try
despite forgetting controls
I'm available as well
look at my food, boy.
Managed to get it last night
It was the one quest where you have to fight a HR Zinogre and a Khezu at once
Ye I saw you mention, for the future if you need anything else
...might take you up on that offer for Lagombi farming
Jesus CHRIST I hate fighting Lagombi
heh
I'll throw my hat in as well, should be able to get to HR in an hour or so
the eeper

i don't sell the stuff but I enjoy seeing the number anyways
41 mins to hunt 2 monsters
😩
Eh, I ended up saying fuck it and using a different longsword
It's got less sharpness than the one I was wanting but at least I won't have to fight that piece of shit rabbit for ONE claw that's inexplicably refusing to appear
Aknosom is good for starting
Ideally you'd be able to shuffle some of it into a talisman, but getting a good roll on that is a nightmare
Basically you can get unidentified talismans on mission, and they get revealed at the end
They can have randomised skills, which means you can use them to fill on gaps on a build
Assuming you can somehow get one with a good roll
~~or just cheat yourself a good talisman ~~
Officially high rank now
nice
now the fun starts
oh we've been here before
the LR > HR transition in my MHW replay was such a gigantic shift in terms of actually having the tools to think about and craft builds
just new PC save
ah yeah, fair. and same
i sleeb soon sadly
Though I have no idea how the lobby system works, I've somehow never played multiplayer ;-;
A hunter needs ample rest

yeah, like. when I replayed MHW it was nice being able to just keep upgrading the bone armor in low rank and mostly not worry about it? But it's so satisfying to start slotting together armor sets and decos.
My usual low rank policy is too slap together some thing that gives me attack up and some other boost asap. Then I don't bother making new armor till high rank
Part of me is curious to return to Rise before Wilds drops, but the rest of me remembers how much I fucking hate the Qurio Crafting and Charm RNG and I'm driven away again
Mod time
But I played it on Switch and I dunno if I wanna go through everything all over again
Like, they all feel vastly more annoying than World ever did
I never really felt "more annoying"
the player mechanics were too generous for that
it was more like
empty
Idk
It feels like their tells just either are too short or aren't there at all
Like Lagombi abruptly just charging forward and sending me flying
Or Khezu
Most annoying rise monster for me so far in the replay is Kulu, close second is Zinogre
I actually remember enjoying the fight with most of the new MR monsters though
I should play world again... But first need to finish Rise! (Properly this time)
I've got Sunbreak and Iceborne in my shopping cart from the fanatical bundle, but I still can't decide which I want to play first 🤔
Go fight the evil reindeer
iceborne rules, just make sure to tinker with your settings and/or mods to get good performance
Also grab that mod that lets you get decos you want without relying on RNG
But not one that lets you make decos that don't already exist
Not looking forward to deco rng again in Wilds
Hopefully there will be some ways around it
Hrm
When do I get to upgrade my zinogre stuff from low rank to high rank?
I have everything I need for a Royal Bolt Scepter 2 but it isn't actually letting me upgrade it
Are you sure you have everything? Or that you aren't short on money?
Any specific Iceborne performance mods I should look out for, or is this one of those cases where I just Google "iceborne performance mods" and there's a definitive list?
I just did the latter
Aye, I've got a Zinogre Shocker +, three Zinogre Carapaces, two Zinogre Horn +, and two Zinogre Tails, but nothing's showing up
It's locked behind that question mark block
Might be a Hunter Rank thing
how can i make a good elemental build that doesn't use kulve taroth weapons for world?
for what part of the game? HR? MR? MR endgame?
MR endgame
actually better question
what are some good elemental dual blades
other than the kjarr ones
i just wanna kill alatreon
The special assignment always starts as Fire so you'll want ice
Off the top of me head there's Frostfang weapons in general
quick sheathe 3 feels amazing
12 minute hunt
and i got the bird wyvern gem for my upgrade 😌
i forgot monster mats despawn :(
While I was getting Terry footage, I also got to play some Monster Hunter Wilds

sajam with a surprise decently detailed descriptgion on his time with the demo
shows footage of large doshaguma and the new lightning wyvern
oh shit, got a good rey dau hunt?
unfortunately he's also not familiar with rey dau so footage is sparse
rip
actually decent amount, minute 13 is where it started, includes footage of carting and the result of carting
man rey dau makes good sound
i'm so fucking excited for wilds...
god those fucking thwums
The metallic sounds are so fucking cool
the game looks amazing
oh wow
i just got to the rey dau part
the healthbar going crazy when you're about to die (I'm assuming) is really hype
17:50 and some other spots
That particular effect is a monster gearing up to attack I think
Specifically, gearing up for one of it's super attacks. Which only some monsters have/will do

it's super cool
hunting monsters is very fun
it's also very capable of taking up 2 hours of my afternoon without me realizing it
Musazhahahaha
I need to work Foresight Slash into my moveset sometime when there's no time for a special sheathe
but I think it still needs to follow an attack?
Oh wiat you're using Longsword?
yeah

(I am for the record, kididng. mostly.)
:3
I hear it's the favorite child of capcom
i've forged a GS which I should try out
but that has a bunch of baggage because it's very prone to tripping other players
basically a bad longsword user is a very noticable thing to have on your team, in that they actively imepede other people a lot
(and infamously they tend to go after the head etc, rather than leaving that to the hammers and using their reach for the tail)
i see..
I mean if you play well, nio one will mind
I've just been mashing
I should probably go for weakspots
I need tails! (probably eventually)
Yeah, 100%
if you can get weakspots you should get em
you are playing... rise/sunbreak atm, yes?
also sometimes my 2 wirebug counter only does one hit instead of 1 big and a bunch of small, even at red
yeah! base rise atm
I got quick sheathe 3 last night and it feels amazing
although still not instant, but that wouldn't fit with monster hunter's style
That i dont know, i'm not a longsword player
i see...
in Rise/Sunbreak i went hard on Dual blades
i tend to swithc between Duals and Greatsword
:O
dual blades are something I should try too
I played only cb in my brief time with world
so I figured I would try a bunch of things in rise
DBs are very, very very fun
the downside is you really need to match element to the monster and it's weakness
😔
so functionally you end up mainting like 5 different sets and weapons
I don't know my monsters ..
I think the guide in game actually tells you the weaknesses?
I ended up instlaling am od that adds the weakness icon to the monster's protrait, whcih also helps
You can usally figure it out though, there's nto usally a lot of surpsies
and even some of the more ocmplicated ones like Barroth (Weak to water when covered in mud, immune to fire during that state, then weak to fire when not covered in mud, immune to water) make sense
ah I saw something about this somewhere, might snag it if I get into dual blades

Honourable mention to sword and shield for letting you just play as a shoto
(in rise, at least)
ayo?
HR being Hunter Rank but also High Rank constantly throws me off. That said: congrats
If you're wanting to merc Alatreon, use Frostfang kit
Savage axe frostfang CB in specific is fucking great at proccing the frost you need for that asshole
my MHW cloud save is missing a ton of progress. I know I beat the game on my second playthrough because I remember spending a lot of time with the jho horn, but that character's in the "hunt the three elders" HR quest...
there's nothing I can do about that, right? short of modding in whatever stuff I feel like I should have?
hmm. I appreciate the offer, but I want to spend some time flailing while I remember the controls, so not just this minute
Valid
I mean that and all the jumping uppercuts

But yeah there is literally an ||Akuma costume https://youtu.be/xkRsUCEwTGg?si=uCJ72xM-0sLcNCHR||

WHAT
that's amazing wtf
I love how after you complete Master Hunter Of The New World, every single NPC immediately starts gassing you up
They're all just so fucking hyped about it, it's great
HAH
Called glass cannon builders right out
They're the ones that started including damage numbers >:0 Though I'm sure people were still sacrificing all things for that Attack Up Crit Boost
I love running me some heavy levels in guard
I love the utility skills ngl, damage is nice but like. I'm not gonna cry if I have to swing my weapon an extra 60 seconds
Finally got off my rear and farmed up materials for decent HR armor in Rise
Feels much better
Got some Offensive Guard too, which will be right proper useful for my charge blade shenanigans
Now to find a CB I actually like
Right, think I'm gonna settle on the Knight Captain CB for now
Decent enough base damage and 20% affinity speaks to me
Remember when I said I wasn't gonna fight this guy more? Well.
Skills:
Attack boost 7
Critical eye 7
Agitator 5
Dragonheart 5
Critical boost 3
Weakness exploit 3
Offensive guard 3
Stun resistance 3
Wirebug whisperer 3
Mail of hellfire 3
Frostcraft 3
Maximum might 2
Focus 2
Quick sheathe 2
Blood rite 1
Bloodlust 1
Intrepid heart 1
Wind mantle 1
...
my mind is blown
I think I'll do some GS hunts today
i wonder how they're healing on hit
hmm Blood Rite?
but you have to be hitting an already broken part 😵💫
people are very good at this game
Got a nifty little Amatsu figure today
Oh that's fucking amazing
GS is great fun, when you can actually hit that fully charged TCS
o7
...I fucking hate spiribirds
Spent like five minutes running around the map looking for them only for the dudes that actually got to engage with the game to cap the monster
Would've been fine if it was just armor and damage buffs but nooooooooo, gotta run around the map for five fucking minutes to get up to full health and stamina
I honestly recommend ignoring the spiribirds mechanic unless it's convenient.
It's increased my enjoyment of the game immensely
This is why I prefer world
Just grab some stew from the grandma cat, sip some drugs, and go kill some megafauna.
yeah i grab em on the way if I see them, but otherwise dango gets me through
Part of it is the structure of the games means that offensive skills are often defensive skills.
Because a monster that's tripped/flinching/lost is tail/dead is a monster you don't have to dodge etc any more.
Personally, I still ran some comfort - health boost and evasion maxed were my gotos in Iceborne.
I prefer skills that affect how you interact with the game some, powering through wind and tremors are hits you didn't get to make otherwise, also Free Meal is just a precious gamble friend for the amount of items I like to use
trying out a new weapon on a strong hunt is kinda a bad idea
i'll go hunt something weaker
considering switching back to the default ZL+X (switch) switch skill for LS
with sakura slash I always have too much meter and no way to dump it
even if i’m waiting to use the 2 wirebug counter
Squints. I don't recognize that weapon. It looks like a Hunting Horn tho.
Also god damn a MH Miku. That's surprisingly adorable.
Given Miku is a performer I'd be surprised if it wasn't
It's vaguely zinogre-y, but the implication to me is that it's made from Miku materials
You telling me Miku is a monster and a hunter?
that's actually Miku's monster
I mean technically she's a sort of gynoid
Looks like a Lagi hunting horn, i think
toxin sac, O toxin sac
so to speak if only I had a toxin sac
Anyone wanna help me beat up a Nargacuga for its lunch money in Rise?
Wanna make a nice shirt and a trumpet out of one
Ah.. I would but I'm not at the right hunter rank yet
High rank
I ended up getting what I needed already, though
Now I gotta beat up a Basairos for some gloves
Just making me a charge blade build atm
What I'm planning is Jyura helmet, Basairos gauntlets, and everything else is Nargacuga
aw man, Rise isn't running well all of a sudden :(
anyone else having the same problems?
it only happened to me because my laptop was unplugged, but that's not rise specific
does rise have a super juiced up 4k graphics download that you might've switched to?
I've started to learn... i can sometimes feel when monsters are about to roar, and can sometimes even counter them with LS (not the really fast ones tho)
and I've been getting off more foresight slashes and part breaks (still don't know how to aim for tails, i feel like i broke slightly more tails in world with cb but I have trouble getting them here)
i find tails are easiest targeted with high vertical attacks
i tend to use the swaxe's upward chop/downward chop to get them off
You know
I don't get why Rise doesn't have a Wroggi bowgun that's just a bigass revolver
There's a BOW that's got a revolver, but not an actual gun
Like, why is this a bow and not a bowGUN, this makes no sense
https://monsterhunterrise.wiki.fextralife.com/Wroggi+Revolver+I
It doesn't even go BANG
D:
That aside I do kind of enjoy how MH games sorta pretend it's all still bows and crossbows.
Massive energy railgun, with crossbow limbs attached to the sides.
Thing is that I could probably run it like that :b
But no, last I checked Rise doesn't have anything like that
I think it's forcing my integrated GPU to be used instead of my dedicated one, and I've got no way to change that :(
Namielle is banger and I have no idea who could hate our bioluminescent queen
I love namielle's design but I do wish the fight was a bit cooler. Feels a little meh
If Namielle were released in a non-mainline game where they were allowed to be a little crazier (like Valstrax) I think we could've gotten something super memorable and awesome
Like making more use of its bioluminescence and stuff. My only hope for it is that Wilds introduces something like Crimsonglow Namielle where it gets reintroduced with some more fun stuff
Namielle has my favorite attack in World. That moment when it floats up, brings its wings together, and drops with arcing electricity. Mm! Very satisfying sound.
I like namielle a lot, maybe some of it's water attacks could use a boost, even if visual
Some of them have a kind of low impact.
But lightning attacks and monster design are goode
i cut a tail!!
🐸
Rude. Give it back
ated it
deviljho behaviour
trying to figure out how to get drawn double slash
this specific timestamp is probably the coolest thing i've ever seen in this game and it makes me wanna download rise again https://youtu.be/7zVOSqzH8zw?t=131

Anyway. HELL yeah, now my favorite longsword is back up to par.

man we need to enhance the gianni everywhere system and have gianni in monhun

this a good place to ask about mods?
Probably your best bet, yeah
how do i install a mod onto monster hunter rise again?
Which mod?
Here's a guide on modding, should help
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2791694098
Unlocked the Diving Wyvern switch skill
Holy SHIT this thing is awesome
I figured it'd be too slow to be useful but you fucking ROCKET downwards
utsushi hasn’t said anything about more switch skills other than the HR quests, should I just craft 8 LS to make him give me the drawn double slash or whatever
can’t find a clear answer online
other than this
I suppose so, yeah
...god
Rise really did just completely fucking butcher HBG
This shit feels terrible
They butchered bowguns in general tbh, with that horrible excuse of a modding system
Used to be you could straight up swap out barrels, receivers, and stocks, now you get all of two options and you can only pick one
In world HBG was also basically the highest damage weapon.
nowhere in here does it say how to actually do it :[
I think MHGU (also by the portable team) had roughly the same bowgun mod options, I'll need to double check.
yeah GU had the same Long Barrel and Suppressor/Shield combo
😔 which sucks, if the receivers and stocks were there
wait you could this in Tri?
Tri went really experimental, parts used decided what type of bowgun you had (Light/Medium/Heavy).
ahh interesting
🤔 i can see why they abandoned it
but godddd that'd be so cool
especially in a game like Wilds, with all of the gizmos you can attach to bowguns
In practice it wasnt, it just meant there was a much moire narrow spaceo f what was actually good
Agh, sorry
Are you looking to install a specific mod or list of mods? Because it's not the same process for all of them. A lot of mods with bad instructions are asking you to replace specific files, that's common for graphical replacements. More in depth mods (mechanical changes) look like they're favoring the Fluffy Mod Loader.
Specifically trying to install REFramework and then a inventory/charm editor
Looks like REFramework should be easy enough. Download it from https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterrise/mods/26 and
To install, simply extract dinput8.dll from the zip file into your Monster Hunter Rise game install folder.
Which inventory editor? (I'm going to guess it's similar to any other REFramework mod, but just to be safe)
a lot of charm editors don't even need to be installed IME
🥶
i tried swaxe on a 4* and a low rampage
i kinda get it
but the lack of defense is
hard
Aye
Remember to Fade Slash
Damascus was already my favorite set, this just makes it somehow even better
Need to mess around with the Ingot set after class, I remember really liking that one too
If there's one thing I hope Capcom keeps from Rise it's the expanded armor pigments system, this is just lovely
Know what I vaguely wish was added to MonHun
Hand bowguns
I yearn to gunsling with proper pistols
OK, cool, looks like another straightforward one. down under "usage":
You HAVE TO install REFramework for this to work!

Though I'm unsure how they'd be meaningfully different from an LBG
Even more mobile and quick shooting maybe
On the topic of bowguns. Y'all know any light bowguns that look more like proper guns in Rise?
I know there's the Zinogre LBGs, but I want something a little more wooden
I'd use the Almudron bowgun but it can't rapid-fire
which one is my install folder? and are you sure thats all cause then what do i do with the rest of the stuff in this zip folder?
Okay I got REFramework working
Slingers look on in envy
when it says archive up here what does it mean
Nvm figured it out
4 quests away from the cool eyepatch armor
...ugh
I hate how much everything costs mid-game
56k for a fucking Zinogre glaive upgrade, gimme a break
Ah well, quests pay out decently
...usually
Was just in a Thunder Serpent Narwa quest with a few other folks and the host fainted twice
We got FIVE FUCKING ZENNY
😭
Like, that was just objectively hilarious, but at the same time, I should not be getting pocket change and some lint for beating a legendary elder dragon
In any circumstance
In less negative news, got the Flame Seal eyepatch
Now to get outfit vouchers
Check your item box
There might be a very valuable surprise waiting for you
a chocolate bar!
thank you wamly
cut a nargacuga tail >:3
how good is good luck?
For real, you accumulate those eggs so quickly it's not even funny
oh yeah, i noticed i got 3 or 4 of the 1k eggs
in a humt
i didn't want to sell any eggs yet cuz some of them are from the event download and i don't feel like I've earned em yet, but now idk which I've gotten from gameplay
I'll sell them someday
I'm honestly very proud I've gone from survival mode to being able to hit the general tail area
Sell monster bits you don't need
If you need cash. You can make a ton by knocking out easy quests or quests in general
Unless it's like a mantle or gem, you never really need to hold onto more than 10~30 of a part
Doing easy quests and selling all the rewards is an easy way to make money yeah

they can also be used to test out new weapons or switch skills in a low stakes environment :3
i'll do that
Is the Wyvern Exploit ramp up skill any good?
Increased damage against like, 90% of all monsters in the game seems good, but it is only 5%
I think it's generally considered solid, yeahj, but like, you're olky high rank
so who cares, keep going for master rank stuff
it's all contextual. not really good enough to make you beeline for a weapon, but it's usually obvious when it's the best (or at least a reasonable) choice for a given weapon.
like, if your options are "wyvern exploit" and "small monster exploit" it's pretty clearly better.
The Exploit skill becomes a bit higher value in MR when you can slot rampage skills into more weapons
ibushi rampage
:(
realized too late i could break the rocks
i spent 60% of the time in the air
Need to beat up a Kushala and a Teostra to upgrade my Hand Me Down Sword, are they particularly difficult or are they roundabouts the same difficulty as World?
They're elder dragons, so go in ready for a real fight
I don't remember them as being particularly bad (with preparation) but I might've been overgeared
Kushala and Teostra actually feel quite a bit weaker in Rise than they were in World for me
Chameleos is a goated fight though
Chameleo also has the best theme of the three
Chameleos has one of the best themes period
love chameleos's design, love its bow
I love that one of the weapons you can get from its parts is just
"Big Menacing Scythe"
A+ name
Speaking of scythes, I've found the kushala daora switch axe and now I yearn for one, because holy SHIT that is incredibly cool
Daora gear in general always just knocks it outta the park with how fucking cool it is
Cool as ice
Lmao

Fuck, this does it, I'm checking out SnS
Oh I've heard things about this one
don't sharpnesses go up to a bunch of tiers tho
But the green sharpness is kinda bad :b
is green sharpness good at this stage
Not really for high rank no
A bit, but there's A Fucking Lot of it
Plus, like
100% crit rate
That is INSANITY
maybe that balances the crit rate
I'm pretty certain you can upgrade this guy later though
how much are crits?
Maybe, but at higher levels it gets fuckloads of blue sharpness
Flat +25% at base
Critical Boost can increase that to up to 40%
This is the final upgrade, looks like I am too slow :(
are there rollover crits like warfrsme
You've seen how crits work in Warframe
interesting weapon
Anywhere else that would be Fucknuts Ludicrous
I do dabble in SNS
It's a pretty good weapon if I do say so myself
Very fun to uppercut things with the shield
Like, half the builds in Warframe would straight up onetap Fatalis
Which also happens to be one of the hardest hitting attacks it has
Five fucktillion damage red crit and he's gone
i was wondering because I think there's also a 50% crit bonus for weakspots, which would be wasted here
but also idk how good 375 attack with no crits is for rarity 10 weapons
I know SnS is supposed to be MAD fun, I just prefer its big brother the Charge Blade
i gotta play akumer
I used to too. Now I'm just not sure, CB felt kinda weird in Rise for some reason for me
Does feel vaguely off somehow
Something hella clicked with greatsword though once I figured out tackle timings
Pretty sure I'm a GS main now...
I think it's the fact that it has a slower and more defensive playstyle, where Rise is a lot more fast paced and offense focused
Why HBG just kinda fucking sucks in my experience
Why lug around this clunky piece of shit when I can just grab a rifle and zoom around like I'm playing Ultrakill?
Side note, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy are there no revolver-themed bowguns in Rise
There's a revolver BOW but not an actual gun
Which is
Fucking stupid
it's very funny how embolden+guard slash has made the shield actually useable as a shield rather than a blunt instrument in sunbreak
Lmao yeah
...so I was fuckin wrong
Kushala Daora designs win yet again, they just can't stop winning
Goddamn how are they always the TIGHTEST shit
had some really good times with valor hbg and the Daora's Ceti in mhgu
utterly absurd output with that thing
So, anyone wanna help me fight a Daora?
I need a proper big iron for my Wroggi gunslinger fit
Like, I can solo Kushala
It's just
Fucking Miserable
there were some gimmick Ninja sword builds, but i cannot rember if they're all that good
The same way every other bowgun does
GUN!
I was going to say through sheer willpower, but yeah that too
Basically any hunter would make a solid Green Lantern
Yee
And I cannot stress this enough
HAW
beeeg iron
Next game
I wonder who the cook in Wilds will be
Be funny if Meowscular's still around and kickin
It's 3 palicoes in a trenchcoat
it looks like most of the time it'll be us. have we heard anything about there being a dedicated Guild hub or is it all the local village(s)?
Nothing yet, but we also haven't seen a whole lot of the village camp so it could just be something they haven't shown off yet
Oh my GOD
Rise has World's MR Kushala set
I'm speedrunning my ass STRAIGHT to it, that was my favorite armor in World
wind mantle off of the risen version is a really neat skill, I think I'm still using a part or two from that set because of it.
On a tangential note, I'm real curious how the spider lily fight will compare in Wilds
PLEASE GOD
PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN
I WILL GIVE YOU MY LIFE IF YOU GET BAHAMUT INTO WILDS, YOSHIDA
That would be sick
That would be the COOLEST fucking fight in the entire franchise bar none
If I have to fight bahamut…
Look all I’ll say is the behemoth fight was hell for me and that’s all
But then who do we fight in FFXIV and why is it Fatalis?
Rathalos
This time it's a silver rathalos though
But fr, Fatalis in FF14 would FUCK
Dragon for a dragon
wait what does Bahamut even look like-
oh.
well, if we kill it, we gotta make palico gear that makes our kitties look like it
just like Fatalis
But what if it's WoL default gear?
Going to skin it an make a nice coat
Monster Hunter will always be based for the idea of seeing horrible beasts and killing them to make clothes out of
is it like "Big enough to hold all of the oceans as a grain of sand in the desert that is its nostrils" kinda big?
like this
Bahamut in xiv is gigantic
The Primal bahamut was imprisoned inside a Celestial body
That was visible in orbit
The mortal bahamut would probably be smaller than xenojiva or geismagorm
But bigger than the other 5gen elders
If we assume he's on scale with his parent and siblings
They had to build a whole moon as a prison for 'em, one of the raid fights is in the palm of his big ol' claw..
not sure if accurate but he's a chonker
ancient post about doing the math for the Binding Coil hand fight and making the smaller model fit
( that's the Burj Khalifa )
But yeah, the Primal bahamut is too big to fight
Practically speaking
https://youtu.be/YgEg8kXmifo?si=MItVegQj2GcdXZWY, skip to about 7.49
The last minutes of version 1.0 of Final Fantasy XIV. Make room for version 2.0, A REALM REBORN!
God XIV is good
Does Tune Up do much at all?
I did see that it gives a boost to HBG's Power Barrel at level 2, but is it a meaningful boost or just very piddly?
...seems like it does precisely Fuck and All, lovely
Looks like it depends on what mod you're running? https://game8.co/games/Monster-Hunter-Rise/archives/381752
Yeah it increases range by like an inch and bumps damage by a handful of points, this shit fucking sucks
Except for Shield HBG, makes it actually usable again
I think level 1 is handy for certain lbgs
...well, it's just another way to stack recoil down for them.
yeah 😭
yayyyy
finally upgraded from my LR barioth coil 😭
now I get critical draw too

The pain of knowing you need better armor but none of said better armor having the skills you need on it
😔
sword and shield is really fun
if you spam Rampages, you get there decently fast
Also you can just play the event quest right away if you want iirc
Unlikely since ranged weapons seem to be in Focus Mode by default when aiming
Seems like it does, but not by a lot
I think wamly is building armor sets in Rise, so Focus the skill not Focus Mode
Aye
Trying to make an HBG build
It's... surprisingly EXTREMELY fun, I genuinely wasn't expecting Normal 3 HBG gameplay to be this thrilling
I was expecting it to be just "Plink, plink, plink, plink" but nah, this is INVOLVED
Oh? Say more.
Like, it's still kinda just "Plink, plink, plink" but you have TECH
You can tackle and wirebug dash and fucking full auto rapidfire with one of the switch skills
AND
You get this extremely cool move where you hunker down and facetank literally anything, and depending on what switch skill you have you either 1. Charge up a countershot that takes way too long, or 2. Charge up your gun and now you can charge shots faster and the cooldown for the full-auto fire is reduced
I mean the tackle isn't great though
Still builds up stun for... some reason
Which is stupid
There's been a lot of instances where I tackle an attack and all of a sudden I get stunned
Nice. Maybe I should try out bowgun again in MR whenever I get time to load up Iceborne
Spread HBG in Iceborne is one of my go-tos
It's not as interactive as Rise but godDAMN is it fun being an ultratank lugging around a flak cannon
I use Safi's Burstcannon with Spread 3, a bunch of damage up enhancements, a recoil down one, three or four shields, and Close Attack Up, and it fucking SHREDS through monsters
Even if they're really heavily armored
And I run a bunch of guard boosting skills too so I can tank a whole lotta shit
rapid fire pierce 1/2 lbg my beloved...
I'm glad they added the semi-auto back in sunbreak, i missed crouching fire
Yes but what about post-game?
Us CB mains is eatin GOOD

...lord help me I might be turning into a greatsword main
Among the many other weapons I main lmao
Y'all have any good guides on how to mod Rise?
Eyyyy welcome to the club
I already had my foot in the door before, this is just me fully committing
This shit is FUN
I'm also a CB fan
And a HBG fan
And an LBG fan, but only if it's rapid fire
And a HH fan
And a longsword fan
And a-
i unlocked adamant charged slash, gonna give GS a try again
need to work on my spacing
yeahhh i whiff everything
😔
i am not built for deliberate combat
maybe rage slash would help…
turning sounds huge
I was built for big damage and something resembling speed
rage slash is pretty fun
probably not optimal to swap between it and TCS on different scrolls as opposed to just slamming the parry button but it's pretty satisfying
... well, not that I'm that tuned in on optimal sunbreak gs strategy anyhow
i soloed my way through world, but then mhgu dropped and i literally never returned to astera afterwards
ooh mhgu is on switch
it's absolutely a different kind of experience than the 5th gen games, but it's one i love deeply

I'll definitely give it a try someday
world looks amazing visually, I'm going to go back sometime as well
though maybe when i can play it on my pc instead of my laptop
Rage slash lets you do full 360° instead of just 90° iirc
Less damage unless you're getting hit during the charge though
It's pretty sweet in base rise, heavily outclassed by strongarm stance later
Adamant slash is overall just not great, I'd always use power sheathe and strongarm once you unlock it (before that, the big air slash that lets you do a charged plunge for absurd damage)
I can't wait to get the counter back on PC...
And the new counter in wilds has me excited
oh strongarm looks good
i will try it
i have trouble timing the air slash
gonna swap my palico to an endemic life one
Gathering palico ftw
Just
Gets random abilities from a grab bag and sometimes they pull out a miniature dragonator
Wouldn't mind if the palico system had a little less complication in Wilds, I love the skills but keeping like an array of them going was weird
Gosh yeah
Risebreak has a really complex buddy system
At least compared to other games
I like that it exists but does always feel like I'm doing something wrong somehow
There's just so much to forget in the various systems
oh dang,i had no idea
I've been using my standard palico and palamute this whole time
🙏
New weapon type: eviction notice
When do layered weapons unlock in Rise?
Gotcha
I'll probably get myself to HR100 first tbh, I wanna upgrade my kushala HBG
...why the fuck does Kushala gear need Valstrax bits anyway
i need a golden muck...
i've killed a couple almudron, no luck
i'll try again tomorrow
No muck, you mean

...is that a fucking zorah magdaros skull
I mean, rotten vale had a dead dalamadur so I don't doubt it
Y'all know any good armor bits that'd go well with the Valstrax set?
I'm thinking Almudron maybe
wandering back into this thread has kinda made me want to pick sunbreak back up again, but uh
can't exactly play on pc, so aha.
solo hunting is my favorite anyhow.
Yeah I'd go back to finish Sunbreak if it wasn't for the fact that the end game grind they implemented to make strong enough gear to kill the final monsters didn't make me fucking hate playing the game
😟
genuinely, without a lick of irony, I'd take anomaly investigations over deco farming any day of the week
it's neat to have a reason to go after your choice of X monsters, etc.
...oh boy
Time to farm a single item with an absurdly low drop chance for the next week or so
I miss World's melding pot
iiiii don't recall when the "trade in resource for Rare Drop" properly unlocks in sunbreak
i know that you can get mostly anything for anomaly coins, but the conditions for that...
😔
i guess the golden muck farm isn't bad, the drop rates are ok and I only need 1
😩
hopefully these are somewhat accurate
ah i should check on kiranico instead
I'm fine with the concept, but it's still annoyinfg that it's rng layer on rng layer endgame stuff withteh anomaly
like "hunt stronger, strangerm onsters" cool!
"do it to roll random skills on your armor" NO BAD
...oh
Well, shit, I'll take it
That's my Kushala HBG upgraded
When do you get to hunt MR kushala?
5* MR quests, though not the first batch
here i was thinking weakness exploit was built in
Weakness Exploit the skill just rewards you hitting weakspots by making you hit weakspots even harder
(In this case through giving you crit chance boosts)
Attack up/crit boost/wex is the godlne trio normally, yes
to go back to an earlier hting, the reason the Ninja Sword weapon isnt very good, is because with WEX existing it's very easy to get 100 crit rating anyway
and still have bwetter stats on your sword

played a bit of world
very different combat.. i guess i'm too used to wirebugs n stuff now
attacks also feel slower in general
but it looks very good, and I like the story a lot
more interaction and voice acting, even if shooting at zorah made me kinda stressed out
twas cool
i miss my dog tho
I liked that Rise let you keep one companion no matter how many people were in the party, rather than removing them entirely if there were more than two people
Jfc what is the drop rate on steel gajau whiskers
Why is this single component rarer than a fuckin Daora gem for me
Should be 20% from MR zones
...eh, the Shell Studded armor prolly isn't worth it anyway
Even if it gives bonuses to THREE ammo types, and gives Ballistics
And Steadiness, and Tune-Up
...you know what I think I can stand to grind a little more
If possible try a quest where the point is to kill Gajau
That gives a chance of quest rewards too
Unless you already are doing that
I don't think there's any "kill some fish" quests in MR
Slay a total of 15 Gajau or Ludroth
Oh
Must've missed that, thanks Clear
...god
I'm definitely a greatsword main now
Specifically thanks to that alternative combo switch skill
Oh you like the uhhhh
Storm thing or whatever they called it
Tempest?
All I remember is speeeen and punch sword into ground
Surge Slash combo, that's the one
I lose out on tackling as often but it makes up for it with the new moveset
Yeee
It's very nice
Especially for elemental damage, you get waaaayy more procs
And more damage overall I think, numbers for damage are weird
I played that until I got strongarm stance, then I went all-in on parry greatsword TCS
as an eternal filthy dual blades main, the experience of looking into other weapons to find out that, yes, X has genuinely viable elemental options in Sunbreak was very funny

Motherfucker over here playing Sniper Elite while we're all busy playing Monster Hunter 😭
How do I unlock the ability to make kulve taroth weapons at the elder melder
elder melder is such a sick title
If you don't see the kjarr meld option you may need to acquire MR Kulve materials from the MR event quest which shows up when Kulve is the gathering hub quest
Right, then what Dude said, grab some MR materials from her and see about it then
If you need help with it there's always lobbies full of people all running the quest
Just remember if you're running element that Kulve's weakness changes when she loses her gold coat
With gold is lightening, without gold is ice IIRC
No it's Thunder with Gold and Ice without
Googled it
Gold is an excellent conductor so it makes sense
ah, i think fire damage just softens the gold
