Oh nice
And our first sort of villain is a like
zealot of Pharasma who's hiring out goblins to raid the town and shit lol
Speaking of
I'm getting art of my Lizardfolk character and
Sadly it's both WIP and has some nudity so I can't share it
But it's hype
hell yeah
You know what I think would be a fun challenge
making a dwarf sword
what traits would be cool for a dwarf sword
swapping the versatile P from longsword for Versatile B of course
brace is a good dwarf trait, but unfortunately not a good trait
shove would deffo work
I do however also think Razing might fit
Fair
Uncommon, Dwarf, Razing, Versatile B
Price 3 gp; Damage 1d8 S; Bulk 1
Hands 1
Type Melee; Category Martial; Group Sword
```Dwarf Sword Draft
it's an interesting question aesthetically given how dwarves are traditionally very, y'know, axe- and hammer-focused
Feels a liiiiiittle boring
I raise you that Stalwart Defenders look like Stone Darknuts
I agree with @barren cipher on brace both feeling very fitting and not being very good
I think where my head is at is, like... the situation where a dwarf would use a sword is when they have some huge fuckoff shield that makes a hammer or axe or more 'swinging' focused weapon difficult to use.
I mean in that case a dwarf spear is probably more fit to the task
probably
I am not coming at this from what a dwarf would really like
'organically develop' for lack of a better word?
I'm coming at it from 'what if a dwarf really liked swords, but also the fact they were a dwarf'
'what would that sword look like'
faur
the broad tip seems like an interesting approach
I feel like that sort of sword would have sweep
or forceful
i think for that budget it's advanced
Yeah
it's just a strictly better in every way longsword
It's gonna be Advanced now
if you want a close-in dwarf sword i think you're looking at a d6 clan dagger
or just a clan dagger
actually
given it's for stalwart defenders who are in a formation a lot
at least in lore
That would make a lot of sense
comparing to shortsword, finesse has a lot of budget and d6 agile + some frills probably doesn't go over
Uncommon, Dwarf, Razing, Sweep, Versatile B
Price 4 gp; Damage 1d6 S; Bulk 1
Hands 1
Type Melee; Category Advanced; Group Sword
oh you meant whole cloth a d6 clan dagger
yeah
nah, agile doesn't fit what I have in mind conceptually
It's much more of just
a very thick sword
I have possibly
an extremely stupid idea
Deadly
traditional dwarven katana
superior dwarven steel, folded one million times
You joke but fauchards and glaives also have deadly
I could go full balls to the wall and give it Fatal D10 instead
I feel like Fatal D10 is like
A really big tax for weapons
Like a reload 1 kinda tax
d4 fatal d12
scribbling notes for doing a monster hunter gunlance
yeah that's fair
Uncommon, Dwarf, Razing, Deadly D8, Versatile B
Price 4 gp; Damage 1d6 S; Bulk 1
Hands 1
Type Melee; Category Advanced; Group Sword
```Current iteration
BLAM
I still wish there were non-ranged weapons that just interacted with the reload economy to do Weird Shit
I get it
but combination weapons generally are a pretty well-beaten horse at this point
Would be good space for some monster hunter weapons
confusion / suspended retribution is a funny combo if you dont mind being striked
my guy is getting melted
oh damn
is there a metamagic that protects allies in an aoe? like careful spell or whatever in 5e
KIneticists have something like that
don't know if there's a metamagic for it too
Ah, I recognize that name
nice finale before christmas steals my session time
I'm so excited to run the next book
This might be the last book of it I run
I really like the later books but tbh the first two books really dragged on my players
But I think book 3 is a good stopping point tbh
I want to at least get my party to ||mars||
what launguages do you think changed the most/least in the last 1000 years? Whats the pathfinder equivalent of old English, which is unrecognizable, and whats pathfinder French, which is more or less just French?
azlanti is like
the big one haha
but maybe that's more like latin
xanmba, the language of nantambu, is noted as having very archaic vocabulary compared to other languages in the group
Which tells me it’s mostly still the same.
Gnomish seems like it would change a lot. Goblin too
Thassilonian has been rock solid for about 10k years. 😛
Virtue of being a dead language until very recently.
Some dialects of Aklo are probably pretty consistent.
I bet the languages of the outer planes is fairly consistent, with most of them being immortal and all, and the fact that the language itself is probably magical
hmmm
Trying to figure out how to homebrew a casting focus that's also a weapon
And realizing that for the classes where that matters they just
can do that
So I think what I might try
is making it a low level item upgrade for staves a la armored skirts for armor
Well, the trick with the skirt is that its not an upgrade, but a sidegrade.
So pathfinder story: I had a vampire dominate the party’s fighter who then turned around, raged, and then rolled a nat 20 on the kineticist
Immediately doing over 60 damage to him
saw this, was curious if anyone's poked around it as a general use setting (not specifically pf 2e): https://luminant-age.itch.io/
is there a specific item that can be used to remotely view a location? like the inverse of a crystal ball, or a very long range clairvoyance target
A hags eye can I think
my gm has approved the dwarf sword I made yesterday for my backup character lmao
Honestly Im surprised there are so few high level giants
Yeah they’re more of a mid tier threat
mid tier with +37 to hit hoho
that's an error 😛
What monster?
Storm giants are looming but benevolent stewards of sea and sky, often serving as the natural guardians of tropical islands, coastlines, or rocky archipelagos. Storm giants tend to rapidly shift in mood and behavior, one moment engaging in peaceful negotiation, the next unleashing unbridled ferocity against their foes. In this way, they embody b...
Oh a +37 rock lol
first attack hits anyone level appropriate on a 1, pretty much
and yes, horrible but hilarious error
Also I’ve found at least a like, high level not giant but a big enough humanoid to work as a giant
The flying mountain kaminari
yeah storm giants dont fuck around
Ok so for my defending the walls to a city one shot
Besides my giant dragon duo boss
I’ve got an adult blue dragon, storm giant, grootslang, for Ian mage slayer and flying mountain kaminari
For a level 20 one shot
This one being primarily focused on just, overwhelming the players
Abom Vaults spoilers
||we are currently experiencing a Belcorra jumpscare||
enter a room, and she's just there
Oh no
thankfully she's leaving now
after blasting us with some big spells
and one of the minions got fucking obliterated by friendly fire lmao
WHITE WOMAN JUMP SCARE
||get it , becuase shes a ghost||
Hm
I'm finding myself using blasts way more than I expected with my kineticist
Though thats mostly because we've been fighting skeletons to start with, and Hail Of Splinters is Quite Bad against them
With the ol pierce resist 5 bleed immunity
But Wood gets Vitality as its extra damage type so I've been enjoying that even if vitality isn't actually much better than bludgeoning against skeletons
2 action blast does some serious work though
I'm aware that two 1 action blasts with agile from infusion is probably better but
+4 is a real game changer at level 1
yeah Hail of Splinters is rough into non living enemies
and Vitality blast can be pretty decent
Where are kitsunes from in Golarion?
they are from Tian Xia I believe
yeah
Ah alright
though there are quite a few in the Inner Sea region too
the Forest of Spritis mainly (where most Kami and Kami-adjacent creatures are from)
Probably spread on account of Tian Xia not weathering Aroden's death too well.
theyve been spread around for a lot longer than that
kitsune are also explicitly noted as having a habit of disguising themselves and just going out into the world
Yah I’ve been meaning to ask
Is it common to find non disguised kitsunes?
Or do the majority use their tailess forms on the day to day?
Ah ok
but also theyre tricksters so its a surprise :)
It varies on culture too I think
later in our AV game
we fight an evil sloth
Troops have rules for effects that target 4 or more creatures. My question is, can any spell actually effect exactly 4 creatures?
I've seen 2, I've seen 5 a lot, but never 4
I think its worded like that because the biggest amount of targets you can pick for 'multiple single target' spells like Electric Arc and Scorching Ray is typically 3?
Magic Missile is the exception but its odd in general
On that strength of thousands session I ran Wednesday. Spoilers for the end of book 3 and book 5.
||Wanted to tie the Knights closer to the Throat-of-nothingness, so the murder ritual they were doing was actually test-runs of the same magic the soul shredder cannons use to make nemhaiths. And since the party had skipped a couple of fights, I wanted the final confrontation to be a little spicier. So I levelled down a nemhaith to level 11 (lowered all its stats, decreased its resistance, removed finger of death) and had the priest unleash it on the party.||
||However, before they could yeet the vessel at the party, the bard commanded they Drop it, and then the wizard sealed him in a wall of stone. So for the first few rounds, the party were fighting off abjal while the priest got absolutely mulched by the nemhaith. Good fun.||
||i also somehow forgot abjal was level 13, not 11. but then the party got a shocking amount of flat-footed on him despite his Deny Advantage.||
uhh theres a number of places
there some that are from the crown of the world
IIRC atleast
Also question regarding that spooky city at the Crown of the World
Angen is in the inner sea and Kistune live there
||was the city built by the Saumen Kar or did the Saumen Kar just inhabit it?||
||cause IIRC Osoyo existed there before the Saumen Kar, imprisoned by the Castrovel elves||
Also do we know when SF2e and the War of the Divines books are gonna drop?
( my gatewalker's campaign actualy just stopped .... so yeah I never got to those parts)
Oof
i was kinda excited for see it went there tho
after seeing the Saumen kar in monsters of myth
it was cool
Gatewalkers definitely felt like a 1-20 adventure cut off halfway through
It also feels kinda like the 2e version of Strange Aeons
still holding out for a Dark Tapestry book :v
Give me my Lovecraftian ancestries and heritages, Paizo
A thing I find odd in Gatewalkers: ||Osoyo is connected to the gates, hates certain elves and is connected to amnesia. Now, Kaneepo the Slim is connected to the gates, hates certain elves and created a curse that causes amnesia. And there is no causal conenction as far as I can tell. I get that it's supposed to be a helpful red herring. But it's still odd. Fun fact: My players completely missed the part about the curse not only killing elves but erasing their memories, too. I like this because it's kinda irrelevant, lol. And why would you erase someone's memories with the same curse which has them turn to ash a day later?||
Have you looked at Living Vessel?
||Kanepo is really weird cause he has basically no plot significance past the first chapter||
Yeah
||He's basically just a "go here, kill this guy" character||
I have sorta, what's your idea?
I find the archetype a little... odd
But yeah
Though it did give me 2 fun character concepts
Oh, and ||Bolan says Kaneepo's goal is to bring the curse back. WHich makes sense. Butthen, Kaneepo tries to find an heir somehow? And the book says that this is their end goal... I get that it's the difficulties of writing an adventure where you're not supposed to stop all the villain's plans at once but come on||
Nephilim Automaton who's really a Fiend bound to a machine (ala an NHP), the Living Vessal archetype being his "true" unbound self
Qnd
Dark Tapestry Exemplar who's slowly becoming an Outer God, and the Living Vessal represents his less human side (which is growing)
||Kanepo in general is just weird, I wouldn't think too hard about him tbh||
||He feels very tacked on to the adventure||
Yeah. Since my campaign sessions are irregular and not super frequent, I'm considering cutting a lot out. Maybe, I'll just skip ahead to certain points and tell the players which level they're supposed to be. So I don't need to adjust anything. There could simply be fast advancement.
I also really need to give Gatewalkers a more thorough read but at a glance I don't get ||why Ainamuuren told his people's story to a prophet if part of that story is that they lost all their memories. And like... This is another example of magical memory loss with no strict connection to the other two examples of magical/paranormal memory loss. It feel like someone cut apart and put together some parts of the adventure. Why do gods and other beings just love taking people's memory away for various reasons? I'll definitely tinker with it a bit.||
Having to tinker with it annoys me quite a bit, given how I run prewritten stories to get out of having to write my own stuff. :P
What are the high level items that raise stats?
apex items?
Them yah
How do you know how many charges a staff has?
During your daily preparations, you can prepare a staff to add charges to it for free. When you do so, that staff gains a number of charges equal to the level of your highest-level spell slot. You don't need to expend any spells to add charges in this way. No one can prepare more than one staff per day, nor can a staff be prepared by more than one person per day. If the charges aren't used within 24 hours, they're lost, and preparing the staff anew removes any charges previously stored in it. You can prepare a staff only if you have at least one of the staff's spells on your spell list.
if you are prepared you can lose a top level spell to add that many charges to it
Ah thanks
Is there any items to cast spells while not having the spells on their list?
spellhearts spring directly to mind
Oh thanks
You delve into the possible futures of the next few seconds to understand all the ways your foe might avoid harm, then cast out a vision of that future to those around you. Designate a creature. The first time each target makes an attack roll against that creature during true target's duration, the attacker rolls twice and uses the better result...
Weird to target with a troop I think
You issue a divine mandate or proclaim a cause to the targets. It can be to attain an item, claim a patch of land, slay a creature, war with a group, or be entirely peaceful. Your cause can't force the targets to harm one another or themselves. The targets become completely dedicated to that cause, depending on their levels. They choose their ow...
There’s several “up to 4” spells as well
Unbreaking Wave Containment and Mirecloak
wait the curse also does that ?
Our team's finally set out on the road to the Stolen Lands in our Kingmaker game
Which has led us to our newest party member, Spice the Donkey
He's carrying our water in a cart, since waterskins only carry a days worth of water
With all the overland travel in kingmaker I suspect he'll have a long and colorful career ahead of him
nice
It's easy to miss but yeah
question regarding the staff creation rules in secrets of magic; do all the spells have to be provided by the same caster? i'd guess yes, but the fact that someone else can do the actual crafting makes me curious
I don't think so?
can't find the rules on supplying spells
but the idea is that a non spellcaster can craft items by hiring a spellcaster to essentially provide the spell as a form of raw material
and I don't SoM staves would work any different from any other magic item that requires multiple spells
Today in Three Horn Rock:
The Hunting Part finds Them
(Some pugwampis earlier talked in undercommon about 'the nightmare killing them' when they sent them to this area to try and trick them, unaware that the party knew undercommon)
As for whats actually going on here, (players don't read if you are here): They're looking for a fellow tribesman, Yngvar, and snuck into this grove after the pugwampis talked amongst themselves about him having died there. And in the grove there's ||an Elite Esipil Sakhil that has enthralled a pack of Compsognathuses and tortures anything that enters the grove to death with them||
Jagganoth is a Fighter/Exemplar dual class
true
with blacksmith background
Idk why it took me this long to notice this humorous bit of mechanical conflict. Did you know that even though the siege gunner and musket master archetypes stack, that gunslinger wouldn't actually be able to use any siege weapons?
Hey the coldstar pistols still have reload 1 right?
Ohhhh
What are people's picks for Free Archetype with an Animist? Something like Druid might be alright for getting some more spell versatility, I think, but I'm wondering what else stands out.
yeah their actions are pretty well spoken for
so it's basically either More Spells or stuff that gives you more passive bonuses- armor prof from champion, skill stuff from rogue, maybe a stray focus point somewhere
could get spicy with a weapon focused archetype if you're going hard on one of the fight-y spirits
blessed one is pretty great
I forget, is animist wis? Medic's another very 'it just works' pick
low action cost, full counteract stat modifier, free focus points etc.
yeah it's wisdom, medic is a bit sparse on feats though so you have to look somewhere else as you go along
IIRC Animist wants to Sustain a lot too so you'll have to pick between doing a combat medicine, sustaining a spell, or casting a new one
As their 'sustain cheat' is a bespoke action rather than the usual free one
also I have brain worms so now you all get to have this
The next damaging or healing spell the target casts before the start of your next turn deals damage or restores Hit Points as if the spell were heightened 1 level higher than its actual level. The spell otherwise functions at its actual level. Once the target casts the spell, mystic beacon ends.
what a weird spell
I can see some theoretical use but in play it seems kinda hard to justify
nothing saying it can't heighten beyond the level you can actually cast
I mean yeah I assumed, but still seems a little eh
action economy and whatnot may not justify its use in an actual fight
seems decent to me
in practice this basically increases your 2a Heal by 12-ish HP
which isn't terrible
3a single heal is a niche yeah
you could also cast it on a buddy
all cleric party
or just More Damage on any offensive spell
not quite sure why the damage clause is even in there tbh
because it can only target willing creatures
the target is the caster
not the recepient
and then they do the damage
it's healing or damage
which yeah now that I'm not blind, does actually have potential
pass it to a friend I think
it's firmly in the 'third action' category i think
if you have other casters in the party to slap on
to use a meaty 3 action aoe
wonder how this interacts with the 2 round spells
think the first round is the Cast a Spell activity
me helping the besties cast horizon thunder sphere
only if say "take my energy" 😛
Another bundle, this time including the foundry module for Abomination Vaults
yeah, that was the Good Bundle
What if I told y’all I have a little bit of insider info to confirm on Monster Core
:3
:3
Can confirm that golem antimagic is gone
They just have resistance to spell damage now
i wonder if they retain vulnerabilities, bonuses for taking specific damage types and such
Oh yeah certain damage types bypass the spell resist
i think some of those interactions can be fun
characterful, good reward for recall knowledge etc.
Anyway, I dare not say mooooooore
makes sense
IIRC the one golem-like enemy in Rage already worked that way

I "come out of the closet" and talk about the time Pathfinder saved my life. (Rules Lawyer)

Hell yeah
You may ask yourself, why do I play a Lizardfolk Barbarian? Is it because I like lizards? Because Lizardfolk make great barbarians? Because I like lizard tits?
The answer is all of the above
lmao
that's sick
I just got both those bundles for christmas
Nice
Do y’all think it’s even possible to do a 2e game with only two players, even if I give them an NPC companion
I imagine it is possible with an NPC butler but two player games make me feel odd anyhow so I'm not sure if I can comment on gamefeel
(the NPC butler is a forensic investigator medic with all the skills they don't have)
dual class and fully independent animal companions
Anyone ever consider doing a campaign inspired by Frostpunk? Essentially a campaign where the kingdom building rules and weather rules are heavily used due to the party being put in charge of an expedition into a frigid region and has to not only keep their people alive against the dangers lurking in the region's eternal winter but also expand their settlement to bring more of civilization to the area.
Is the Flickmace still good at all?
yes
one-handed reach sweep flail babey!!!!
one handed reach flail with at least still decent damage die, yeah
Do you think a Meteor Hammer is better overall?
depends on if you want to be 1h or 2h
but if you're not dual wielding or using a shield, I'd generally say yes
I played a meteor hammer Fighter for a while, and it worked quite well
Both have their uses
Oh they added a save for flail crit in remaster?
that's what i hear
swords remain king
yep
it's still good, but much weaker now
The lord giveth (removing auto-grab from monsters) and he taketh (flail nerf)
the Grab change is not purely good tbh
especially against higher level monsters, you have a decent chance to get crit Grabbed now
I’m very confused
The Rules Lawyer, notable PF2e youtuber, recently released a video detailing his history in political activism
In it, he told a story about a protest he went too at his college which was brutally broken up by the police, and how a copy of Pf1e's core rulebook, which he had inside of his backpack (which he was wearing backwards to protect himself) absorbed a very heavy blow to the chest from a police baton that otherwise might have badly injured him
Yeah! The Rules Lawyer is a certified Cool Dude
Doesn't surprise me
One night he was GMing for us, he was at a protest
Or he was doing pro Bono woke for protestors? I forget
wait hes been your GM?
Yeah
I've played uh
didnt know he had that much of a history of activism before
He's been keeping it on the downlow
That story came from a video entirely dedicated to de-downlowing it!
goddamn thats a lot
I am one of his more consistent players
I didn't do this block but I intend to do the next
As an Exemplar
are those the games he puts on youtube
my dad
A Dragon :v
watches those all the time haha
altho I think they finished them all cause they're watching something else now
He does pro bono legal work for protesters as well as doing it himself
This won't happen, but imagine this as an item in pf2e
A buckler that does extra protection against bludgeoning
And it's just a big book
Magus can use books as shields right now
He does seem like a magus guy to me tbh
Hey what would y’all say is a good way to stat out a chainsaw in this game?
The signature weapon of the Red Mantis assassins, this curved blade is serrated like a saw, hence the name.
Something like this maybe?
I know it's not like, got a motor or anything
But still
Then again, the traits don't really work for it
Yah twin especially
This finely-made wooden club has a beautiful, lacquered finish that gleams in the sunlight. A heavy ring of gears lined with sharpened pieces of obsidian automatically and constantly spin around the bulk of the wooden club lengthwise. Striking a foe digs the obsidian gears into the enemy's flesh and tears it with its blades. The ever-turning gea...
This actually is a chainsaw but its a lil weird
Something with a Serrating rune is a good place to start otherwise
thats kinda sick tbh
...wait, is that an error or something
the clockwork property says it's supposed to have a windup and run time in the item but it just doesn't?
could also be on aonprds end I guess
wait nevermind
it's specifically creatures and vehicles that need that
so I guess it just... does nothing as a trait there? Rules as writtren I guess it's vulnerable to disable a device checks but also rules as written they wouldn't do anything on success
I mean there’s traits that are essentially just flavor all time
true
Yeah assumedly its just clockwork because it is clockwork
If it didn't have that people would be going 'huh why does it not have clockwork'
wait sword scion just, lets you use an aldori dueling sword as a martial weapon?
goddamn
yeah
You need to be at least trained in the Dueling Sword to get the archetype though
Thought nothings stopping you from using an advanced weapon as an Ikon, no. It follows normal proficiency rules
Ahhhh
That’s the catch
Also this is weird then
The aldori dueling sword didn’t appear when I was choosing a weapon ikon on foundry
Guess it could just be a mistake on the module though
It may just be called the Dueling Sword?
Maybe?
It is not
Mhm
When I type in dueling all I get is the spear
Could also just limit the choices to weapons your proficient with
As to avoid clogging it with weapons you can't use
Probably yah
But yeah imo is severly limits the archetype beyond like, choosing it as flavor
Since if you have training in it you're likely already "good" with it without the archetype
Yah probably
I mean, I planned to use the elven curved blade anyway
I only saw sword scion as an option because I literally typed in backgrounds “sword” lol
So of these, does anyone have any favorable reviews? Sorting through my Christmas Books now and if I want to run a PF2e thing it should probably be something shorter before an AP
Also: Abomination Vaults is one file??
Crown of the Kobold King is pretty fun from what I've heard.
But that's based off my 1e knowledge.
IIRC The Slithering has... questionable pre-gens for an ooze heavy game.
Rogue, Swashbuckler, Precision Ranger, Psychic?
Pre gens basically don't exist in my mind anyway tho so its fine
I think it's more a lack of Bludgeoning options.
does GM core have npcs in it?
It does not, giving the table of contents a glance
they released a big all in 1 book
Trouble in Otari is like a very classic first time adventure
I've heard plaguestone is good
Is there a spell that like, makes a laser from the sky?
There are a few spells that create a pillar that effects a standard blast area then extends up into the sky a ways
One of the Infernal Bloodline spells comes to mind
Moon beam is a classic, idk if they renamed it
Oh, it's not a pillar in the this edition
One of the divine blast spells does it.
Familiar guide that an acquaintance in another server has been working on, thought it might be appreciated here
https://docs.google.com/document/d/107_A6a9VmBwPVgIihj7I3gvOToGYzaSB7jh5gNFzLlw/edit?usp=sharing
I am bringing back the zombified version of an altered sea serpent the party killed a few levels ago for a potential random encounter
and gave it this
for yalls consideration
oh thats fun
*in it's
You mean "in its"?
it also has a rotting aura and can puke up it's own rotting guts as a breath weapon
and bah, apostrophe
It's an odd peculiarity about English.
yeah I started with a few levels in plaguestone, but never finished it
You unleash a holy beam of freezing moonlight. Make a ranged spell attack. The ray deals 5d6 cold damage; if the target is a fiend or undead, you deal an extra 5d6 good damage. Moonlight ray's cold damage is silver damage for the purposes of weaknesses, resistances, and the like. Critical Success The target takes double cold damage, as well as d...
if i had to guess after the remaster it just does spirit damage
Which one?
Flame Strike
Oh
If you archetype into a spellcasters while you’re using a spellcaster class, will the archetype use the other class’s stat for its spell DC?
iirc, yes
so even post-remaster there's probably more witch-wizards than wizard-clerics or whatever
That sounds so cool
Today in Pathfinder
My character gives up a hand-carved childhood squirrel figurine made by her mother to save the town in a bargain with a hag
She wanted to be rid of the reminder
Ok so for my game I’m gonna have like
Arc title cards at the start of every new arc
And for the first one it’s gonna be
Part 1: The Siegrath Incident Arc
Do y’all think there’s a possible good/interesting way to do like
A guy who partied and dodges a bunch of shit but his actual health is fragile
As an enemy
Without just resorting to high ac
Ours is the Pact of Leadership Arc
Sick
I'm
honestly mixed
Cuz the campaign's premise has radically changed
To something I, in all honesty, didn't reeeeeeaaally sign up for?
And I feel like I can't rly justify my character staying around
She wants revenge on a man
Not to start leading a town
Like it's not a bad premise
Just
Ohhhh
Not one I feel like my character can really fit?
Could use mirror image-style mechanics
I mean will you eventually get the chance to get revenge on that dude?
He's in the pseudo-infinite library the town is built atop
I love mirror image because it allows players to make tangible progress even when they miss
But like
Her solution for that is
Wait at the entrance to stab him
Night and day
Or follow him
I've told my gm I just don't think my character is gonna work
At least not in a way that'll be fun for me to play for now
like the arc I could see is the sort of classic 'damn... what life is there in revenge...' kinda growing attachment to the town
buuuut if you were really in it for the 'fuck that dude, hell yeah he's gonna die' style revenge arc yeah that's rough
^or the above
unrelated, found this to be a pretty interesting reddit post from a paizo employee
It is kind of like trying to get Fortnite Kyle to play like
Undertale, or something
Little late but you could straight up give them concealment or something
That feels different to me
Not a lot of Gamers who just play one game ime
there's at least a bit of a divide between the, like
CoD/FIFA/GTA players and who you traditionally think of as 'gamers'
gamers are pretty heavily siloed yeah
Gamers are more likely to play multiple games because they've already done the up front cost of a console/pc
There's exceptions of course
And this ignores mobile games which are half the market
I think that this works for the brand strategy of approaching dnd guys tho
The amount of money you’d have to spend on advertising to reach them just wouldn’t be worth it
They’re too entrenched
I'm struggling to figure out a replacement character lol
Almost all the people I play with got into dnd 5e before they knew other ttrpgs even existed
I know I did
That's probably true yeah
I think it's saying more you either just play dnd or you play multiple things
But those things don't exclude dnd
You rarely get someone who is just pathfinder who never did dnd or other games
d&d somehow managed to become a Lifestyle Thing the way every live service video game has been dreaming of
So I just had a fucking hilarious idea
Gunslinger/Cleric of Falayna
That is literally just Elphelt
She's a metal singer not a bride now but I vibe
I mean
As all the Nagophelt art indicates
There is a significant audience in the why not both crowd
She’s kinda both now tbh
She’s a metal singer but she’s still looking for a partner
Her taunt involves her pulling out either a poster or marriage certificate for the opponent to sign
Also speaking of,
Fighter/barb vampire kinda makes Nago too
Probably spirit bard with how he’s undead
Grab human unusual weaponry for an nodachi (I know it’s technically common but that’s bullshit so I’m saying it still counts)
Flavor blood rage as well… rage
Also just grab a katana for a backup weapon
I've also found another falayna cleric concept
What?
A kitsune plural system where the two forms are two different people and are a married couple
She's a god of marriage
which hopefully contains such
I am a bit sad that like
Like this is her design
Like why
Whywhywhy
Ohhhhh
The metal skirt
Other than the exposed leg I like it
Armored dress
I mean
You can do armored dress well
I would argue you should put all the cloth beneath the armor
But what do I know about chafing
It’s just kind of a weird outfit
This is the one time I will compliment FATE
Look, its layers
Overcoat, plate, padding underneath
Its fiiiine
They made an armored dress work
And also didn't expose her legs for no fucking... walks off grumbling
Sorry her design is just such a letdown to me
Cuz she's clearly based on Freya
And cool Freya, even cool Freya who is about love, is possible
We have cool Freya
Who is still fundamentally about love and I will fight you
It could be argued she loved someone even maybe to much
YES
Like, wanting to protect them a bit to much kinda love
Sorry, that's too harsh
That is 2e art
Rub a dub dub
I'd fuckin take it
I think it's fine mostly
Cuz Elphelt dresses herself
especially as a god you can just kinda look like whatever you want
Like I said I am not against armored dresses
I love armored dresses
But this one is just
The armor Bugs Bunny wears in the cartoon where he pretends to be the fat lady in an opera
minus the horn helmet
I think it's mainly the way the armored skirt billows out way too wide
Like it just looks impractical and thus dumb
If that wasn't there I'd probably only complain about the legs
And beyond that just be like 'oh yeah cool design'
The upper half has grown on me over the course of this conversation is basically what I'm saying lmao
So true
Ky
Dual class Fighter/Kineticist
Honestly I feel champion more then fighter
Like besides his whole, paladin vibes
Post crusades Ky is significantly more chill and focused on helping others
lightning slashes, etc etc
Not kineticist
Yah my B
Millia
Rogue/Witch
Is the Witch hair finesse?
Actually hold up wait a minute
Rogue with Witch archetype for the hair sounds fucking baller
Wait does witch’s claw count for hair?
Ah ok
Gotta grab like, Ghoul archetype for him too
Dude is hella dead
he's not dead anymore IIRC
Wait is there zombie archetype?
he got revived at some point
Goldlewis
He’s still dead he’s just in control of his body again
also yes there is
He’s basically undead
I kinda see it?
Dragon barb/inventor
Yes
Overload and rage is dragon instal
Testament
I'm feeling Magus?
Sorcerer/summoner?
Wait isn’t there a ninja archetype or am I crazy?
Faust feels thaum yah
Axl is a Swashbuckler
Grapple Monk
Grapple Monk/Champ
Mountain stance
Ramlethal
Also Summoner
Leo is a Fury Barbarian
Gio is a monk?
I'd say monk
mechanically she'd be a monk but narratively monk summoner, yeah
But it’s accurate
It would be if meld eidolon didn't suck my balls

Bard/Monk
I realised smthn about dnds marketing
Yah
They literally call themselves the world's greatest roleplaying game
No wait
Thats wild as hell
Ah fuck it
Jack-O
Wacked out level five billion inventor
Bridget
Toxic Human Fighter Flickmace Main
Damn she’s toxic?
He’s a gear
Yes Magma

WAIT ELPHELT IS A RUSHDOWN CHARACTER?
No problem
Always has been
last are bedman and asuka
I've been drafted to run a one-shot for my brother and his frie ds
easiest first
What do I do
Asuka wizard yah
Bedman
easiest one ever 😛
An Eidolon specifically?
With what's her name as the Summoner?
Construct Inventor
Strive Bedman
Where he is the bed
sorry for not clarifying lol
Its not going to be for an indeterminate amount of time and we were both incredibly drunk when we decided on it
So I mean
Were? Are it was like two hours ago
Then yah probably construct eidolon summoner
He's never played a ttrpg but he wants to
Premake some characters
I have found out thylacines exist in the Stolen Lands
yeaaaahhh
Yep
Yep
Aye
I have a fun hypothetical
Would a Dual Class Twisting Tree Magus/Cloistered Cleric with a god whose weapon is a staff have a two handed staff profile whose damage dice is 1d10
Sadly it looks like not
F
Yeah unfortunately the two-hand trait reacts oddly with damage die boosts
As a GM I’d just let it stack this time personally
Two hand not stacking with like…. Inventor, is weird
Asking my gm if my partner can join cuz he wants to play
How viable is a crossbow/firearm rogue?
not very good
Sad
the difference between a rogue sneak attacking with a d4 dagger and a d8 deadly fatal blessed unholy foereaper isn’t all that massive
What ranged rogue in general?
the time you spend loading is time you could be spending on getting flatfooted again or just doing more attacks
With either thrown or bows?
it’s still a struggle but you have more actions to enable sneak attack
thrown is probably where it’s at in my view, because if you are struggling/unable to get flatfooted you can always just flank and stab them
I am a big fan of multiclassing into rogue as a gunslinger
Rogue feats are pretty good for a sniper
And honestly you will probably get the exact same vibes doing that as gun rogue
you also get +2 to hit and you aren’t totally boned if you can’t get flatfooted
Sniper gets to hide-takecover
So you get flatfooted all the time
I personally went for an Arquebus. Its lethal, does fat damage and has stupid long range
I’m pretty sure the shobad long rifle is the same
Just with volley and backstabber as well
Ic ic ic
But yea rogue-sniper is cool
Nimble dodge or whatever
The +2 AC reaction?
Great to use
You weren't doing much with that reaction anyway so
Fakeout
it's super strong
get a gauntlet bow to always have a loaded weapon to use it with
So I have figured out how to build a Thaum/Magus
Sparkling Targe with Raise a Tome and a Thaum with the Tome as their first implement
I've had my eye on Raise A Tome Thaum for a while
The main issue I've ran into is the pain of getting 14 intelligence on a martial with a CHA KAS
My solution is
Fuck Int
Esoteric Diverse Lore BAY-BEEEE
Also just
Not using save spells at all
Oh, is this a Dual Class game?
I assumed that you meant free archetype, which requires 14 int to take Magus dedication
Oh this is for the Dual Class game I be in
I still have to get expert and master and etc in other skills
but esoteric lore is for everything but those feats
Also wanna know how they're gonna Earn Income in between adventures?
Writing books
Story books, guidebooks, ghost writing for others
How?
Esoteric Lore is still a Lore so you can Earn Income motherfuckers!
Dual class is fun going balls to the walls with
man I'm having trouble picking a heritage for this character
What’s their ancestry?
They're a kitsune but I want them to be heavily associated with spirits
It feels thematic for the campaign and a niche yet unfilled
Those of us in the party who are undead are physical kinds of undead, be they skeletons or by technicality, a zombie
And they're a Thaumaturge taking all the fun spirit consultation skill feats
Honestly
Might just make them a fetchling and just have them be a plural system
without the fun kitsune specific bit of each form being a different person fronting
Maybe changeling is the play then?
I looked at changeling but duskwalker seems more the vibe
Spirits as in like explicitly the dead
Like they have occultism Consult the Spirits, Break Curse, the whole shebang
Fair enough
you joke ,but becuase awakened animal is becoming an ancestry , you can be a goblin dog
Fuck yeah
or a goblin snake
God I wish Eldritch Scion Magus still existed
I kinda wanna homebrew it as a thing similar to Elementalist
Eldritch Scion Magus?
Magus but with a Sorcerer bloodline
had spont casting
PF1e magus archetype that made it charisma-based
Ah, interesting
Fuck it I'm gonna make it
Check out Magus+, a dude in a game I'm playing in is using a Cha subclass from that for his
You don't need to pick between it and another hybrid study even
Not rly what I'm looking for
Wait is it Essence Mystic?
Cuz Essence Mystic does in fact replace your Hybrid Study with another feature lmao
Oh huh
This dude in our game is an Essence Mystic Laughing Shadow
Maybe they've homebrewed the homebrew
Man I just saw the restrictions on Coven spells and I'm now a lil sad
I assumed they were just like, extra spells added to a creatures spell list but they actually can only be used if the coven members are within 30 feet of eachother
How am I to do my 'working your way up higher and higher level hags who are all in the same coven' idea now
(I can just do it without exploiting Coven but 😔 )
pyramid scheme covens
because full coven spell availability tends to make parties explode
You’re making one?
Sick
OKay
So what should I give an Eldritch Scion class archetype besides the tradition and spontaneous spellcasting of their sorcerer bloodline?
ive had a character concept for a while but I'm not sure how to pull it off
I've got some token art with four arms. what ancestry would be good for that sort of thing?
or at least, what. an I reflavor into extra limbs?
so
there's an ancestry I'm making
whose whole point and like....
dramatic crux is being constructed beings, made for a specific purpose by a rigid, authoritarian society
so i have given them a controversial rule
I mean that tracks
What is their boosts out of curiosity?
oh sorry, should make this a reply since it's been 40nminutes lmao
also
ooo, thats fun
Their Ancestral Weapon selection is also weird as fuck
Shortsword, Halberds, Broadspears, Composite Shortbows
Is allowing a once a day cast of a domain spell chosen from a limited selection too good for an ancestry feat?
Probably too strong for a level 1 feat for sure, maybe level 5
once a day cast of bless?
mmmm it looks like first level feats almost always only give cantrips
Additionally, when you enter Arcane Cascade while wielding a one handed melee weapon in one hand and your spellbook in the other, you may freely choose the damage type of the extra damage granted by the stance from the spells you have prepared in your spellbook.```
This doesn't quite feel like enough?
It’s very “well I hope your enemy has a weakness to exploit”
You raise up the book you're holding and flip it open to defend yourself and expedite your studies. The book remains raised until the start of your next turn. While you have a book raised, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to AC and a +1 circumstance bonus to Recall Knowledge to identify creatures using a skill related to the subject of the book ...
light clearing of throat
Yes that is partially what's inspiring me to make this
Plus liking Robin in Smash lol
haha fair
It sucks that two spells I think would really fit for this thing's studious spells
require theivery checks
But they do provide the great theming of 'wow this magus fucks around with their available spells a looooooot'
You're right, yeah
idk what to really add tho
Hey weird idea
hmm, no
no point in rly doing that
I think maybe you could lean in to like the thievery
lore thief vibe
which kinda helps it set apart from doing a sparkling targe raise tome build
Very Hermaeus Mora coded
Also helps the studious spell in the middle of umbral extraction and graft is sea of thoughts
I was thinking the 10th level feat could have you make an Arcana check to permanently add a spell to your spell list
Either from your ancestry or one you sto-
waaaaaaiiiiiit a second
There's precedent for class options giving you skill feats, yeah?
recognize spell
And the 4th level feat lets you copy it
Magus
Source Ianthe the Kobold’s Homebrew Emporium
Prerequisites vellum panoply hybrid study, Recognize Spell
Requirements You Succeed at Recognize Spell, you are holding your spellbook.
You may immediately replace one of your prepared spells with the recognized spell if it is a spell which you can cast with your available spell slots. Its tradition becomes Arcane, even if the spell is normally inaccessible to the tradition, and Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for the spell. For the next week, you are able to scribe the spell into your spellbook as the distinct memory of casting the spell remains in your mind, with the DC increased by 5 if the spell is not Arcane.
```I think this is fun
You want a link to the two hybrid studies I've made?
sure!
The one I'm currently making is Vellum Panoply
If you have time for critique and review, the main thing I'm worried about is the 4th level feat being too niche?
On reflection I think this is too niche probably
haha my players have the ability to learn unspeakable truths about the universe in this coming dungeon.
also
got some semi-cool mechanics incoming
being marked as fallen makes the dungeon more hostile and deploys a wheel archon to come kick their asses
This is a weird idea
but it might work
Would giving the spellbook-based hybrid study a limited choice of a domain spell work?
Probably mechanically yeah
Focus spell Spellstrike is a reasonable niche
Narrative might be the bigger issue
There are some decent domain spells
Though most people will probably just take Fire Ray
Or the Stone one
I mean that's why I said limited domain spell selection
kinda like how shadowcaster or something has a domain spell feat but only for specific domains
I don't even think it's a bad thing to let people pick those
It feels a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle weird?
idk if blanket 'pick an initial domain spell' tonally makes sense for this magus
or a magus
domain spells, outside of grouping them thematically, are very cleric-coded
Maybe an initial wizard specialization spell?
I think getting an arcane school spell of your choice is probably the good idea
Okay I think I'm satisfied with my book magus
actually wait no the base feature needs more
Hmmm
I have
Idea
Additionally, when you enter Arcane Cascade while wielding a one handed melee weapon in one hand and your spellbook in the other, you may freely choose the type of the extra damage granted by the stance from the damage types of spells you have prepared in your spellbook or spells you can otherwise cast.```
God Animist is so cool
Spamming spells with the dance
As long as you have magic, you're never unarmed. You materialize a flaming simulacrum of any common simple or martial weapon into the target's grasp. The target must have a free hand to hold the weapon, or else the weapon falls to the ground in the target's space. The blazing weapon functions as a +1 striking weapon, and its damage type changes ...
Is there a reason you can't make Alchemist's Fire with this?
I don't think so but why would you
Oh I see it now
But hm
I assume the rematerialize is intended to just get you your flaming axe back, not save it from effects that destroy it
Yeah that might be RAI
yeah
its basically saying it has Returning, which obviously doesnt work on consumables
now the funny thing is that RAW you can create any (common) alchemical bomb
because theyre all martial weapons
I…. Would probably let someone make a rematerializing Molotov
Just cause that’s sick
That just sounds like produce flame with extra steps
well alchemist's fire has an explosive radius iirc
Well I think the big thing that would make things break is that you could conjure up any bomb if this worked, including the top level ones, so long as they are common
I would presume that the RAI way for that would be to treat them like stronger rune versions
Yeah that
