Agripinaa shotgun is wild with the Terminus Warrant, the slugs go outta control with 30 stacks
I haven't tried shotguns since the buff, I just know that the exterminator feels significantly more powerful than pre buff shotguns
Also people were right. The gore is a... bit overtuned right now. An autogun should not cut someone in half.
2 boops for Skullcrusher then dog and bolter is wild nice boss damage
Exterminator is fun but bolter boss MVP
The new shotguns go really hard
All classes now can have a really good shotgun build
thats what ive been sayin
The arbites shotguns are really damn good in a given role but I find myself running the fire shotgun the most
Just a good ol trusty combat shotgun
my executioner birdshot build rising from its "why are you running this we are kicking you" grave like
that scene of constantine going to heaven
Bleed build Zarona combat shotgun (Flechette + Scattershot) is doing hard work on helping me climb past Havoc 21 and up, though the 25% ammo node makes a noticeable difference
Oh shit are the combat shotguns not subpar anymore?
They got about 25% more ammo and 25% more damage on the buck shot and now cleave double to triple the dudes
I put a marksman's focus agripiina shotgun build together
The tests look like it rips, I gotta run it to see it in action
Arbite's shotgun being a class exclusive shotgun is overall stronger but for other classes they're having a great time with new strong shotguns
the arbites shotgun is strong af per shot but has a lower ammo count in the chamber
Aye, and a decently long reload
so it would be less good on a lot of other classes anyway
...has an actually realistic ammo count lol, most pump actions only have room for like five or six shells anyway
veteran would probably love to have it
As it should be for a class exclusive, arbites has a ton of cleave nodes that make those shots count and cut hordes
Weapon spec vet drooling
but weapon spec vet with the heavy standard shotgun mark right now is really good, genuinely
I wonder what's the lowest mag/longest reload combat shotgun variant is and if what kind of wep spec combo I could do
because the increased cleave lets him blast specialists through shit
and it vaporizes hordes
bring a chainaxe or tacaxe for armor
60% ammo fire shotgun has you
Accatran shotgun has 3.5 cleave base now on the attack buck shot so you can get two scab melee mooks if one is staggered but if you run Deathspitter you can get up to 4.6 or so and blast two gunners at a time
yeah it's very satisfying blasting a group of shotgunners with manstopper and watching it give me 5-6 kills
I've been crusher gaming on arbites and the 75% cleave on push node alongside other cleave nodes makes the horde clear stupid strong. You can easily one shot a whole line of poxwalkers, and swing through a dozen armored scab mooks
It's like always powered relic blade levels of cleave
Arbitrator being the cleave class was not what I expected and I greatly enjoy it
It's a strong and safe horde clear class
And the way it deals with tougher enemies is cc. Then your teammates can kill the bosses. Arbites isn't a slacker with bosses but when vet and zealot can one shot crushers and chunk bosses (or 1 shot for zealot) it's not good at everything
arbites are actually hypergood against bosses if you build for it, but it comes at a cost
specifically you go bolter castigator arbites and Blammo them
but it's ammo hungry and you lose out on a lot of more convenient advantages
they're also mad good against captain type enemies in general
the big weakness is honestly that if you get caught with your cop pants down you can get got very fast
because you lack immediate emergency buttons for some situations and your defense is dependent on hitting things
Cop pants
the only of their actives good in a "oh fuck there's a bunch of reapers shooting me suddenly" situation is castigator and that's mostly just keeping you aliveish until you fastwalk to cover
maaaaaaaybe charge if there's somewhere you can reach that's safe
or if you can reach the reapers
and since they don't have gold toughness or ogryn advantages they can get pinned and picked apart sometimes
(psyker, well, psyker is off in their own world playing defense a different way)
arbities has more boss shredding than just "Bolter castigator"
yes but they're not hypergood at it
bleed dog is competetive with bolter castigator fym
they have options, it's just not to the scale of an optimized vet or zealot except for if they also optimize for it
bleed dog is pretty good too but a tad too unreliable in my experience
admittedly i'm judging in havoc where the darn problem is you have like 5 bosses
so bleed dog tends to unintentionally spread damage
I mean I'm not playing havoc 40 but bleed dog still works in havoc 20+
versus being able to focus down the priority target
yeah I am playing havoc 40 so take my opinions from that perspective
fair enough
Yeah they really need to fix the thing where only 2 boss life bars show at once because when there's a daemonhost ritual, twin captains, and a chaos spawn grabbing everything I need to know what those shields are doing
There's a certain rhythm to it because the captain spawns are based on distance in the level so if you keep pushing you know it'll keep throwing them at you
okay
Gave a combat shotgun manstopper, flechette, +maniacs and +crit chance
I was wrong
That was incredibly satisfying
We’re loving arbites tbh. The shock maul + shield is so good for staggering enemies and then smashing them away
Plus you get a lot of nodes & weapon traits for damage against staggered
They are pretty fun. I hope it's not because they are overtuned
I don't really get the shot pistol. But maybe that plus the melee shield at the same time was a mistake
Shot pistol is really good single target deletion so it goes great with a cleave-y melee like a shock maul or chain sword
Shield and maul is good, it's just kind of slow on the run so if running double shield try a shotpistol with run n gun
Oh right we just remembered what we wanted to do
<@&1042950387478560878> anyone willing to help us complete the last few campaign missions? We’re attempting to do it on heresy so we can unlock the higher difficulties and it’s being a bit of a slog
o/
I'm down
Maybe I can finally complete Malleus Monstrum too
Cool we’ll hop into Horus vc
I'll not be physically speaking, I never feel like doing so
LMFAO
4558148862
I think it's the very varied and good build variety. Imo there isn't a most optimized build and the "meta" ones being like bleed grenadog, doggoless grenarbites, bleed, bolter blasting who have very different trees yet there isn't a clear superior one which I think is a sign of good balance.
Whereas like zealot/veteran the builds people take share 90% of the same talents
Each build is top tier but I'd say on par with other top tier builds like, chorus zealot, shout veteran, or Ogyrn. But the build crafting variety is real good, you get top tier builds from very different talent choices
Wait what are the talents 90% of vets take
I use it because I'm a CQC vet and it's useful, not because it's meta
Also because the voice lines are funny
Also I need more reload speed for my stupid revolver
The voice lines are some of the most tempting part
Shout is boring but it just works and gives the nice gold toughness
PUT THA KARKIN BOOT IIIIIIIIIIIIIN
I think it's pretty funny that by default the command shout doesn't buff your teammates.
Wish it had more interesting augments and that the gold toughness was just the baseline standard
Like debuffing enemies
A shout that hurts you, commisar style
The vet build I use is one that's cookie cutter
I also really like wep spec, I am not reloading on a vet
Reloading is for the other classes
Switching to your secondary melee is faster than reloading
But the animation is so lovingly detailed
Psyker bubble is by default a wall
It's not even a large wall
Reload speed says, nah hurry up
Don't need animation, need bullets now
Bolth
NOT ONE STEP BACK
I think tech-adept would make more sense than skitarii? Kind of depends on how often they want to deviate from the "reject" type of background?
Hmm, does "Close Kill" imply "ranged kill"?
(For the Arbites "Up Close" talent)
Close kills are kills under 12.5 meters and melee counts so it's pretty cool
Rejects are good at ignoring commands
😌
"Stupid dog, you make me look bad!!!!!!!"
Friend code for any future joiners
To add onto this, 12.5 meter is longer than you expect in this game.
Basically unless you're on the train or bridge sniping from one edge to another most kills will be close kills
Notably, Trappers can shoot their net from 15 meters and that is too dang long, that is 50 feet
For reference close kill range is spawn point of psykh to the mauler/scab gunner is 14-15m
It's wonky cause some cclose" is 8m and some is 15m iirc
It used to be 8m for the most part and 12m for some stuff and they standardized it to 12.5m for all close stuff
Ah I see
Almost got a clutch
Unfortunately, game elected to let me know I wasn't allowed to play, actually
Rodin needs more moves beyond "Shoot" and "Lay mines" tbh, when he's shooting you you get very few opportunities to counterattack and he always ends up covering the floor in mines
...though tbh a decent chunk is just a skill issue on my part
There's a little delay before the mine goes off so if you're bold you can dart in to punch then back off
Bit harder to pull off when there's a thick clump of them
Oh yeah then in that case just dive through them to the other side
Wamly you coming back or are you off?
Yea you can slide through the shots
If you're trying to revive though, thats another story
Is the stun shell version or brittle shell version better for the arbites shotgun?
They do different things pretty much - the stun shell enables electrocute damage bonuses for the team, the brittle shell adds 30% brittleness on direct hit (out of a cap of 40%) which the team loves and might already have, I like them both
doubling up on brittleness is rarely needed because of how easy it is to apply liberally if you spec into it, but having one player with it is a huge game changer over none
Stun shotgun is disgusting for (and arguably the best weapon for) hordes. Brittleness shell trades the horde busting for really solid single target damage allowing you to deal with crushers and enemies at longer ranges (where stun struggles)
What's best is what every you need out of your gun in the build
The default horizontal spread on the Mk 3 shotgun is super handy
They're both valid choices for the right builds and while fulfilling large and valuable niches.
Very nice to see a weapon where there's no clearly stronger mark, and marks are more different than damage/rate of fire/reload.
combat shotguns being significantly different in stats beyond the special shell was a nice surprise
probably still is a surprise because I was about the only user of them prior to the buff
Mk3 into castigator with cleave nodes lets you absolutely mulch hordes it's like a mini shotgun rumbler, very fun.
I run mk8 cause brittleness is good for crushers and bosses and that's what I lack in my gren-arbites
curious, what would you say is the best class to round out a 3 arbites lobby
as that is a very common sight
I'm thinking psyker because between 3 arbites you gotta have boss damage, elite and special sniping and CC covered, statistically speaking
Zealot with thammer
Kills bosses and crushers, which arbites is slower at by comparison
Well unless you do bolter arbites, assuming ammo is not an issue
Ogryn offers a lot of debuffs with damage taunt that Arbitrator really likes
I wonder if you can make Shaggy in the editor
Trying to port some of the Arbitrator builds to Veteran has been illuminating because it turns out Arbitrator gets a ton of free damage from the tree for existing and Veteran has like 2 10% nodes and 30% weak point node and the melee finesse node and that's pretty much it for direct damage
I've been trying a similar thing and what I'm finding works is zarona shotgun and a crit build with the stamina-eating ADS crit node, wepspec and supporting talents
zarona with manstopper and scattershot, the special spread round is useful for jumpstarting the crit loop with scattershot and wepspec swaps and then manstopper can sustain it
I wound up running Zarona with Flechette and Scattershot on super tagging with Devil's Claw for general use and kraks for boss deletion and the points are real tight:
With the 15% team gain toughness node popping Infiltrate as a circuit breaker gives the team about 40 toughness so it's like a discount Shout
I think this is what I settled on? I need to doublecheck
Yeah the weapon spec reload speed is super nice since the swap gets you the 25% from having a round chambered and then 20% extra is real good
wepspec putting a round in the pipe makes that top right node always proc
the reload speed is nice for quickly loading a special shell
which sets up the crit loop
I am running it with shovel so I feel like I need melee support. I coulda swore I afforded the weakspot node too, I'll have to turn my game on and see where I landed but I got something to work
I've been trying to make a trench fighter theme
I experimented with marksman's focus agripiina shotgun, that felt good in the meat grinder but in practice all the dogs knock heads around and its really dependent on landing headshots
so what weapon should i use on my veteran if i wantn something that shoot fast ?
Recon lasgun or columnus (i think, its blue) infantry autogun
Used to be called the Columnus infantry autogun, now it's the Vraks IIRC
not the reinforced one ?
The fast reinforced one is the Graia
seemed to be verry dakka
Braced is also neat but infantry is a lot more versatile
Ah...Graia... lot's of memories there
(I will finish what Captain Titus Began - Malum Cado)
agripiina braced is the one that can punch through hordes
Upon my triumphant return I’d like to try a heavy braced build on arbi
Can confirm this owns
hmm, trying to decide on a voice for Shaggy
trying to decide which will be funnier
the fatalist would be a reasonable choice but maul is such a great surprise coming from shaggy
hmm
is the arbites campaign worth experiencing?
Authoritarian sings a song occasionally and that's a Shaggy Thing to do
It's 18 missions long and gets you to level 26 from level 1
so about the same as normal
is it on the same level of wooden pointless cutscenes as the old
Arbitrator class skips the trust cutscenes entirely and just gets voiceovers before and after each mission

The campaign missions are scripted a little different and have different voice overs from the generic runs too
perfect
Like Zoinks scoob, tear his throat out
Need a mod that plays scooby laugh followed by eating sound effects from the show whenever the dog has a enemy pinned
Ruh roh, Shaggy! Lexbreakers!
the fit
Steal Her Look
Pants (Atonement Unit Commissary, very inexpensive)
thats a good look
Man
After power leveling arbites
I got back to veteran and I forgot how much I just adore it
Love my accatran
I have to upsell the shovel weapon skins that don't fold. what they do instead of folding to make the spike come out is you just turn it flatside and bonk guys on the head with them. its extremely funny.
the arbites update got me back into this game and i have to say
all thats missing is a "realistic policing" counter that goes up every time i shoot my dog
i go STOP RESISTING every time I start beating on a captain
I try to have multiple builds/costume looks for each weapon combo.
Turning off body cam when I bring out the crusher
Vox off
And now there's 8 looks available instead of 5
I think I've got my Assail Psyker the way I like. Fast, lots of toughness and lots of ways to recharge it.
Did every shotgun get a buff?
<@&1042950387478560878> killing people? 🥺
we'll actually be like 5-10 but we're in vc
Yeah sure we’ll be on shortly
I'll be on in a bit of you all are doing more missions
Anyone got a terminus warrant build for arbites?
The cleave seems insane, kind of want to take scattershot and Mk3 to like auric havoc and hope I get the free bullet on crit archetype
I did a bunch of testing and the ranged cleave on Warrant is bugged right now so if they fix it in the hotfix next week it's gonna pop off so hard
RIP
They acknowledged my bug report so fingers crossed
Staves need a like
Grace period between you charging up at 100% peril and you overloading
This is what I use for the Terminus Warrant, it's pretty flexible though and works with shotpistol and regular revolver and the shotguns too
Like if you charge and it gets you to 100 peril it doesn't insta down you when you cast
97% is the cutoff
My understanding is that if you charge to 100 peril and you hold it it begins the explosion when you release it
and not the moment you hit 100
Yeah like if you're at 90% peril and do a brain burst that puts you at 100, that's okay, if you charge and release the brain burst when at 100, that's a boomy
- Charging and casting prevent you from sprinting, but you can dodge and dodge-slide to move around (and avoid getting hit). Smite has the same properties.
- Tapping the quell button causes you to quell one "tick" of peril. That's roughly 10-12 percent, and it happens very very quickly, so you can immediately go back to casting. It's a good idea to get used to threading those between casts. On many builds you want to stay at 80+ peril as much as possible.
- You only explode if you release a cast when already at 100 peril. For the fire staff in particular, you can charge up past 100, hold it as long as you like, and if you do release it you'll be able to finish the entire stream before entering the explosion state. That means you can start a full cast with about 5 seconds on your shriek timer and you'll be able to shriek before you finish exploding.
- If enemies are inside your bubble shield, the shield will instantly delete all of their bullets. This completely prevents Beast of Nurgle spit, flamethrowers, etc. Snipers will aim at you through the shield, but they won't fire. Bombs will bounce off of the shield, but their effects can reach inside it.
quoted from a psyker friend
scriers gaze
these are all valid psyker tips. personally I cannot be assed to quell-cancel most of the time but it works great
What's the max reload speed?
Vet has two top-level reloads and then reload keystones
With either marksman or wepspec and a top node I've made shotgun reloads really fast
ough I gotta mod my game again
life is starting to become unberable without mourningstar shortcuts
braced autogun is genuinely kinda neat for how much suppression it gives with just a handful of bullets, you don't even need to hit anyone and you can turn off 30 shooters for a few precious seconds
got the loudener
I greatly enjoy autopistol for that and the stagger
it's not a good gun but it's a strongly inconveniencing gun, which is my style
packed horde wave? all of you are going to have a considerably worse day at the cost of a 1% of my ammo pool
with a decent build it's a very funny way to take down specialists and sometimes elites because it parts the horde like the red sea before sandblasting the actual target
I love my shitty gun
The two reload blessings, the reload perk, all the reload nodes in the tree
It's some super diminished nonsense
But it shoots faster then the pump shotgun racks
personally i find that bolt pistol countersniping is the funniest thing ive done with a gun so far
Sending trip report that the newly buffed eviscerator rips
Bolt pistol is good for that it has a very generous hit box for killing snipers
Dang that's a lot of reload
i use it on my psuker and zealot since they are more melee centric
yeah the hitbox really gave me pause because I have an eye for what should and shouldn't hit so soon after picking it up I went "...ain't no way" and booted up psykanium to deliberately miss
conclusion: it is extremely hard not to get a headshot
Pretty much, ironic the best countersniper weapon is one that doesnt need good aim
Hehe
I'm having trouble justifying the non-quickdraw revolver over the Bolt Pistol tbh
It just seems to do more damage more easily?
what melle should is conscidered good on the veteran ?
dueling sword is the best melee weapon in the game
so much so it's getting nerfed soon
the fan-the-hammer revolver is, tragically, not worth the trouble compared to the bolt pistol.
power sword is still really good
it needs three blessings to get going
and most of the generic human weapons are fine. I've levelled all the common pool weapons on vet in aurics and had a decent time with all of them
sniper revolver has higher ceiling than bolt pistol but I haven't been keeping up with updates so maybe not anymore
bolt pistol is just super convenient and build agnostic
I'm trying to get full mastery on all my weapons now
Sadly the ones I have left are the ones I actively dislike. 😛
bolt pistol is great for run & gun style
Sniper revolver cleaves really good and still does thousands on crit with Hand Cannon blessing
revolver is my favorite honestly
how's the fit ?
good but the fancy dueling saber is kinda clashing with the down-in-the-mud grizzled soldier aesthetic
What melee weapon do guardsmen get besides like a bayonet on their lasgun
A knife? Im gonna say a knife is more fitting aesthetic over DS
A knife, a shovel
Depends on the Guardsman
Shovel works, knife works, specialist melee units can have a variety of lower tech options up to chainswords
If you're an officer you can have whatever
Depending on regiment
A reminder that the Catachan swords in-game are both A) Canon, and B) considered knives by the Catachans
If you see a screenshot of a red highlighted weapon in ventory it's a mod to match vermintide 2
Or it's the weapon skin, not entirely sure what you mean by red
There aren't, it's just mod trickery
Damn
Said mod just marks fully upgraded weapons red and curios with max stats fully upgraded
ok 2 ogryn 2 arbites havoc 40 is insanely funny
armor groups and rager groups just disintegrate beneath a wall of bashing
some struggles with gunners but suppress and charge works most of the time
2 arbites and 2 Ogyrn is ragers/maulers is don't exist mode
I usually run grenarbites into havoc to yeet into gunner groups
The overhand throw has good reach and it moves fast
I might actually run gunner keystone doggo, basically everyone and their grandma is spec for elites/specialists in pub game so I am once again taking the mantle of gunner killer. First it was knife zealot and now it's dog that hates guns
The one thing I find is a strong point towards grenades is that they stagger bosses
I stay back and save grenades when someone gets grappled or they're about to be hit by a charge that'll send them over the edge
yeah the more i've tried stuff the more I've kinda decided shock mines aren't as good as they seem
bc they tend to stun primarily chaff
electrocution is potent but you need to be able to direct it to get the most out
this is why i dont play smite psyker
Bosses on Havoc 40 have like 100k HP and there's like 7 per run so every bit of boss damage counts
Well smsyker the smite doesn't really need to be directed it's kind of just everything you see
Arbite's shock mines can only zap so much, which I'm not sure if it's random or it prioritizes elites/specialists
The long throw time is pretty rough
Arbites grenades are a favorite because they delete gunner packs and dreg rager packs
Not sure why the mines take so long to throw, it's not even far
They're meant to be pre-emptive rather than really good right-now crowd controllers, I think.
Even preemptive they don't really stun well, like only a quarter of the horde even in aurics gets stunned maybe and it'd probably mostly poxwalkers.
so i tried to make my mods work
and the game fails to launch any time i try
not sure what i need to do
The darktide mods discord has a channel smort folks who can trouble shoot mods
Otherwise well its turn off and on mods, or read crash log or dump files.
hmm even with every mod disabled, i think its the bat file
guess i gotta see if i can find an update
They stun everything up to crushers
But the main thing is that you can just decide an entire flank is not a problem for like 30 seconds
15s, 30s would be a massively stronger
I dont know about covering flank, the area is small and some enemies that move faster than normal can go past mines during the pause like ragers and trappers.
I have an obsession with making smite good
so far I've come up with two things
- if you swap weapons just right smite inherits their properties, I'm yet to think up an use for this beyond applying puncture from bolt pistol
- scrier's gaze 10 seconds of full power smite I guess
oh I should add it's already pretty solid if you use it to throw this one scary guy in particular around instead of shutting down the horde, which is to everyone's detriment
but I want to see what else it can do with enough sideways thinking applied
Using the Zealot chorus to walk through fires in the inferno event levels is pretty neat
okay tiome to make recon las and executioner stance work
Turn yourself into a las-autocannon emplacement with this one wacky skill
yes i love lmg and heavy weapon i will not aim for the head I will not aim just Dakka dakka dakka
(ork beahaviour)
NOW DAT'Z WOT I LIKE TO HEAR
smite's good it's just kinda one-dimensional a lot of the time
once got to run two smite psykers and two ogryns, and the psykers just constantly alternated electrocuting entire rooms whilst the big lads clubbed everything to death
worked great but wasn't very engaging
i must say not a big fan of the revolver
the question become combat blade or dueling sabre
okay combat blade sucks actually
Yeah it's really reliant on the weak point hits for max stabbery
Stab me
i dare you
With gas events or fire chorus stays winning for keeping team aliveb
Combat Knife gets pretty close to DS in terms of how strong it is, the biggest advantage DS has is that it is strong while being super easy to use
so called independent thinkers
Ive seen the infamous 4 super cyber dogs day 1, we all paid for deluxe
Yeah you can get the recon lasgun powerful enough with stance to one tap mooks on weak spot
Deadshot is good if you got a stamina regen node
Duck and Dive is one I like cause 30% stamina for avoiding ranged attacks via dodging, sprinting, or sliding nets you positive stamina to use
And aurics and beyond you're probably dodging gunfire by accident just avoiding melee hits theres always at least a gunner
Lets you basically be perma-deadshoting
I wonder how it goes with the braced autogun
You know what you need to do to make it feel better
clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick
Just spam the everloving shit out of it
Its strength lies in flinging out like 500 swings in half a second, alongside the heavy attacks' weirdly insane damage
...god why do those heavies deal such fucknuts damage
Managed to get to the last fucking bit of the train mission for the first time
in a winning position
and my power goes out
Rippppppppppppppp
game begging me to stop using my stupid autopistol
autopistol is very fun
Alright time to complete the campaign
gave mortis trials a try, pretty fun
not being as huge of a time investment as chaos wastes, and no super saiyan bosses, certainly helps
yeah I think our ogryn had infinite boxes
thirteen coin flips on the 50/50 to get a second boom is a lot of boom
my autopistol turned into a high damage stunlocking infinite ammo hose
I shot a chaos ogryn with it for a laugh and it actually got completely stunlocked
like, animation frozen
I imagine an actually good bullet hose like recon vet wouldn't need to ever touch melee
The multi box with regenerating nades is chef's kiss
I do also line the 20% OHKO rock
Just rolling the dice to delete a darmonhost or boss
No super saiyan bosses but it will send 5 monstrosities at once
It reminds me of havoc density but you get monster buffs
Grenade arbites with healing blast and someone with corruption healing aura is godly
Until everyone gets grabs at once and dies, good fun and not as much of a cake walk damnation is.
what's the "optimal" build for Arbites so far?
Depends on dog or no dog
There are optimal builds but I wouldn't say dog or dogless is better they're pretty even on balance.
Dog it's usually a castigator into executioner order (nuncio temporarily as it's gltiched to provide 70% TDR instead of 30%).
Dogless it's grenades with break the line into forceful
dog is better because it includes a dog, which dogless willfully omits
Had a humdinger of a Shock Troop Gauntlet, Enclavum Baross just never quit sending folks in after getting bogged down in the middle bridge section and it went all the way to the finale; bless the Bull Butcher cleaver for never stopping never stopping
the only consensus I've seen is basically that terminus warrant (middle capstone) is definitely the worst
it's not even like, bad
just inferior to the other two options
oh and 70% cleave on push is a busted-ass node
Terminus Warrant is gonna pop off I think once they fix the ranged cleave on it because it's easier to keep up than Forceful cleave
Yeah you can get a casual +150% cleave constantly if you grab the 25% node, 50% forceful, 75% push and that's a lotta poxwalkers
It would become wild horde clear with the mk3 shotgun
It's wild now, someone showed off how much it mulches the hordes and has the quickest TTK for havoc 40 hordes. A lot of people are sleeping on mk3 exterminator because mk8 is a real accurate specialist killers
Which seems odd to me cause many people are using mk8 and the arbites shock maul which is like both strong target.
I run crusher for horde clear so I don't need mk3, but if I ran the arbites maul it'd definitely pick mk3
Once forceful gets fixed, I want to redo my payday 2 horde mulcher shotgun where all the grunts within the center 1/3rd of my screen dies
Forceful works as advertised right now and it's super noticeable - 5.3 cleave on the Mk3 shotgun becomes 9.25 with 25% cleave node and 50% forceful buff which is 7 poxwalkers deep on normal play and 3 poxwalkers deep on Havoc 40 (because minion mooks get a 170% hit mass bump on high Havoc because we can't have nice things)
I did get my cleave guide updated in case folks need some numbers to do napkin math on arbitrating:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350231553
Oh when did this happen?
It's tiiime
Forceful is a 50% cleave buff to all cleave and works, while Terminus Warrant is bugged and the 50% ranged cleave, don't
Oh, I got them mixed up
<@&1042950387478560878> Do people want to dark the tides?
my favourite thing about arbites having so many cleave and stagger perks is that it can give that to weapons that shouldn't have it, like tac axe
currently running brutal momentum and slaughter spree on mine because I got time to meme about until I unlock max gear power/difficulty
horde clearing with a tac axe, what a time to be alive
Yeah you can get like 4 pox walkers in a go per swing with brutal momentum, it's wild
I can't decide which mark to run though, they're pretty evenly matched
and none feel better than the others to me
Cleave with revolver basically is mini plasma gun
It already had good cleave before too
No specialist can hide in a horde
Hotfix 1.8.3 just dropped, the Arbitrator penances are now substantially less grindy and the dreaded precinct numbers won't show up on the deluxe capes any more:

edit: Also no more weapon bleed procs from dogsplosions, so no more leaning on that interaction
[img src="{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/38365286/4090708bc4130993b2a510a1f6e3ea9c7abdd491.png"]Hey Everyone, Hotfix #71 (1.8.3) is currently rolling out across our platforms. In the meantime, you can read the notes below. To stay consistent with how Arbites cosmetics have been presented to players, we’ve deployed a fix for an issue introduced ...
Yeah I was at 2700/3500 on the marked targets so that auto finished after login after hotfix
RIP bleed dog, back to exterminator
damn i already got most of the penances down
yeah same
😔
* Razor-Jaw Augment is dealing extreme damage.
* We are aware of crashes stemming from FSR 3.1.4 - specifically the FSR 4 feature. For players experiencing issues with FSR, you can disable FSR 4 through the drivers.
* Refinery Delta-17 is currently experience a higher crash rate.
We will keep you posted on progress on the above, thank you again for your patience.```
Huh that would explain the wild damage
Hmm, not sure if I am just doing a better job at achievement hunting, or if the Arbitrator class has easier achievements, but I have more with them than other classes despite playing less. Though I guess the other classes still have some legacy achievements that are private game only etc.
I think they learned before doing the Arbitrator penances and they're all pretty reasonable to get by playing normally as compared to stuff like the Zealot 20 minute speed run at 1 wound
I think they are all on the "do x a bunch of times" end of things. Unlike some of the other classes which are "do hard thing once" (like the ammo efficiency one, or the killing a bunch of stunned enemies etc.)
Question, does the double barrel hit harder than the exterminator?
Wondering if it still has its own niche
idk, but a rapidly reloadable 3-shot double-barrel shotgun sounds really funny
With castigator you can get like 8 shots out of a double barrel
Thats more bullet per barrel
The double barrel will hit harder on a double shot at close range, it has a big aim radius and minimum pellet count so it clears mooks really good; I like running Deathspitter/Speedloader with the triple barrel
minimum pellet count my beloved
4.5 cleave on the double barrel isn't far behind 5.3 on the Mk3 or 5.7 on the Mk8 shotties
Clearly this is how shot gun shells work in 40k:
Advanced tech for the imperium
rip
Zog
the number on the sleeve looked cool
Yeah, gave it a little extra charm
Idk why everyone shat themselves over the precinct number being on the cape and the sleeve
Was it the only thing that is connected to your background choice?
The same people made them remove the candle flame from that one bolt pistol.
Wasn't that one like, in the way of the sights or something?
It's too bad they can't turn this sort of thing into a toggle, but I do get being annoyed at the thing you acquired looking different from the preview
it wasn't in the way of the sights, I had it from a weapon customization mod
the problem was that I couldn't remove it once I put it on
because editing the gun that had it would crash the game
anyone gave the new upscaling patch a try btw
curious if it'll be better than lossless upscaling but I'm at work for the foreseeable future
...I'm really struggling with this game's graphics because they feel like turning anything below GPU melting max settings breaks something because they never like, planned for people to run the lower settings
I think it's the only game in my life that gets downright ugly and hard to parse on low-med
even vermintide I've bashed with a rock to create a custom ultra hyper low setting for my previous PC and it looked fine
here there's a constant soup factor lurking if I tweak my settings just a tiny bit and suddenly I can't tell apart things at range
oh and atrocious hair
I'm sharing these as curious observations, not complaints, I'm a pixelated potato enjoyer
it's just fascinating to me how large the gap between settings is here
The flame was pointed and perfectly-shaped to be right in front of the front sight blade. It actually worked pretty well.
I've got decent settings and it still struggles loading textures fast enough on swapped guns, it's truly impressive how the optimization is borked
opening the cosmetics screen makes my game chug and PC lift off
You ever get the thing where the clothing bones don't soften so your coattails and purity seals stick out like they're full of starch?
The game runs (mostly) fine for me but all the skybox hive city vistas are just full of screen tearing for some reason
Yea when loading into a lobby its like stiff and moved like i just suddenly stopped in place then it becomes normal
There's a setting for sunlight reflections that could cause it
Which is a funny setting as some missions are just completely inside
Campaign over
ngl the worse visibility in inferno missions was more of a hazard than the fire
Bombers lurking in the dark
Jeez, we’re getting lucky with drops today. Got a nearly perfect maul & shield roll
Alright, time to try out damnation difficulty
Aaand it’s 4 arbitrators
Arbitrator gaming
Train mission is fun
I forgot I had a mod to reduce particles for flames so I can actually see
I was wondering what people were talking about, the fire screen effect however eats up like a quarter of my screen
Does the innate fire in an Inferno mission even hurt you? Or is it just there are so many fire-causing heretics
It does if you touch them, I think
Never even accidentally backed into it though
You have to actively try to get hurt by it
Wish there were larger, more raging infernos ngl
I don't remember the boxes being on fire hurting that much
I think it just slows you down mostly with some damage.
Bombers became my bane without castigator stance, it just deletes toughness and slows you and at times they big brain work together to just trap the team into a corner.
Bombers are such annoying shits on those maps
Visibility's already borked and then they just make it worse
I think I messed with my monitor too much to see in darktide but I see fine
By default areas without like forge fires I could not see whatever was shaded and I messed with the gamma/contrast to see
I think bombers are extra bad on the Inferno maps because they spawn more often. And more than one bomber is awful because they can refresh fires before it goes out
Yea pretty much. But Castigator Stance lets you move mostly normally and for some reason really slows HP loss from standing in fire
Oh I forget 80% Damage Reduction would be for HP and not universal
I need to get a good Relic Blade
I wanna try it out
I love me big two handed swords
don't even know what it does
moonlight greatsword
That's psyker force greatsword
Relic Blade is like the better Power weapon that stays on for more than a few hits and has great cleave and horde clear.
It also has a weirdly complex moveset relatively and its kind of a night and day difference between, its pretty good to its amazing dependent on if you know the moveset chain
ph right
And you got to look at the heat bar
two greatswords added in one patch, I mix them up
Oh huh yea it was 1 patch
Ogyrn should have gotten the greatsword stubber, everyone gets as greatsword except Veteran
Ogyrns always have the best names
I got the new cutscenes at some point btw and cracked up at the moebians turning traitor
One of my favorites is Hulk Hogryrn
the lore snippets were vague enough about "the stranger walking amongus" for me to imagine a compelling story
but in cutscene form no he literally walks up to them like HELLO COME MORB OUT WITH ME
alright time to start grinding out damnation missions so we can unlock auric
do you think you could walk up to traitors like hello have you heard about our lord and saviour
and if you had enough aura it'd work
Hmm but that would mean im not yelling about the Lex to a corpse
no shade but I think the average player zealot is more convincing than The Stranger™
using dark powers to make up for their weak persuasion skills, smh
Their heretical dark powers vs Our holy psyker bless with the emperor's gifts.
their heretical dark powers vs our naturally charismatic zealot
Something something blood for the golden throne
I'm glad they fixed the turbo gibbing in the hotfix, that would have been a bit silly to keep on for a month
I'd love to play on about 30 minutes
last sight a million flametroopers saw during the event

Frug
"Maybe they [the ruinious powers] are gods. But I wouldn't recommend giving them your soul."
Is this the 40k version of agnosticism?
If they're so strong why are they called daemon princes, an emperor would win over any prince
Chaos moderate cultists saying warp is dangerous but that's only cause sentient life made it so and you can safely use the warp with caution and understanding
new age chaos cultist seeking to make the world a harmonious place so their gods can chill out
I'm chaos traditionalist my self i will see this galaxy burn
if the galaxy burns, what will power the warp? huh?? huh???
Take that to the warmaster i'm just here to spread plague and kill stuff good
In My termi armor
Unbothered
Moist
they fixed uberdog
RIP blood for the blood dog, it now just owns instead of doing a billion damage
Oh cool I never used that anyway
Yeah I run both left side turbo debuff dog and middle tree normal dog and they both work about the same in practice for me
i just take the talen to tell my dog to go kill ranged units with impunity
and that works well
240 damage a tick on the ranged baddies gets 'em super quick yeah
yeah it's deceptively good imo because while elites and specialists might be the bigger immediate threat
they're a lot easier to deal with when you can exist outside of cover without 30 gunners pasting you
wolfer could just kill us if he only deployed shooters period, in great volume, and who immediately scattered when melee happens
that would make for the most annoying game
give the poxwalkers stubbers
nothing can go wrong
wait I can never remember the made up 40k terms
what do they call a shitty ballistic rifle again
stubber/stub rifle is correct im prtty sure
heavy stubber for the machine gun, stub pistol for the pistol
have them stumble and fire in the most vague forward direction possible
and clamp down on the trigger when dying
it'll suck ass but it'll be classic
There is nothing less fun in this game than rounding a corner and a platoon just opening up on you
that's what Bait Zealot is for
slide around the corner, take a look, slide back in
I'm glad there's a plethora of ways to dunk on the shooters in that scenario because yeah that'd be a Call of Duty moment otherwise
Bubble psyker says nah I'd win
And Zealot is like lol no I slide
My logic is that in pub games everyone and their grandmas are running elite/specialists clear and aside from bubble psyker few randos spec to go after gunners so being the passively kill gunner person is pretty nice
Holy the bolter is good on the Arbites. Combined with either the crusher or the Arbites shock mauls you really feel like you're actually a space marine
Pinning Fire blessing and Forceful keystone own with it
The extra mag size talent boosting it from 15 to 18 ammo feels pretty significant for boss damage
Especially with castigator and timing it with surgical you can basically shoot like 4 to 5 shots for "free" and have you mag still capped off to magdump on a boss
the specific model bolter we've had the whole time is an arbites model
I want a bolter mark with a lower auto fire rate and a drum mag but you only get 2 mags or something
I'll take the opposite and have a storm bolter wishlist
That too
I hope we don't stray too far from Reject Town, Arbites is already a step away
- relic blades
- power swords
- thunder hammers
- plasma guns
We were never in reject town after level 15
They're all handmedown at least
I more meant that they're not even technically in jail
You don't hand-me-down a fuckin thunder hammer
Every weapon in the game is Canon Rebuilt Trash
grendyl really lucked out to intercept a prison barge full of people imprisoned for killing 300-2000 people in one go
Rebuild doesn't mean trash
Also that cinematic is like level 4
And introduces the main crafting mechanic?
Yeah and by the time it's fully blinked out it ain't trash no more
Because of the refurbishment mentioned yes
That shits anointed as hell
And still probably 5% the anointment of an artifact not primarily used by people who plough through the sewer system
The sewer system is a good entry point
by the time you're fully leveled youre an Important Person
Exactly
The story mode makes it clear
like, people call you valued (even if its still like expendable)
youre in the inquisition, thats not low ranking at all
It's 40k everyone is expendable
space marines are expendable, doesnt mean theyre not important
a level 1 reject is only held back from soloing the liberation of atoma by the existence of elites
Trust level 30 gotta count for something, though they coulda gone to 40 because it is Warhamsters 40 hundred
like idk one guy vs infinite guys seems like a super good deal from a prison break
also remember
Luv me wurmcaster the forty and first m
youre being sent on extremely important missions
rolling steel for example
thats not something the lowest of the low is sent on, the mission control on your side even vouches for your capabilities to dukane
hell the story mode literally has rannick say youre pretty valuable in the later missions, relatively ofc
Yeah
A hammer is pretty valueable
at level 30 youre a trusted member of the warband
and theres somethign to be said about a high quality hammer
youre literally given the title of auric operative
yknow, the special ones for special missions
the valkyrie can hold like 12 rejects before it starts getting cramped and they keep sending us in groups of 4 and then complaining about attrition
sounds like feeding rejects to chaos to me ykno
food for thought
i dont think the valkyrie can hold 12 ogryns
also keep remember wolfer in the carnival just like
"sir, the teams say its a full platoon of loyalists"
"do those idiots think i cant count"
wolfer is secretely playing Shadow of Mordor with us
feeding us Ws to get a cool enemy
in this post I will argue why the capture and respawn mechanic is in-universe and not a gameplay convenience
well we may be agents and all sure
But we're still about a level of Guy Who Gets Cutscened in Rogue Trader
...okay this is absolutely NOT what is going on but it'd also be 100% on brand for a warhammer story for wolfer to be actually doing that in hopes we fall to chaos
no, we literally take out chaos spawn and beasts of nurgle on a regular basis
this is "named character but not a main party member" tier
at worst
( I do kind of hate what Tide has done to those tbh )
Like they're such non-threats and are horrors obstensibly
Four fucking beasts of nurgle showing up and getting mowed down is more gameplay contrivance to me
We canonically have admonition send a monstrosity during dark rituals
And we chump it
Not even a final boss
That's because the game needed minibosses and the like, and it makes them feel feeble and like every other force in the game is so utterly incompetent
Okay?
??? OK I was just stating opinion on the matter, and then you doubled down on the reasons I feel off about it
Idk what other response was asked for 'You are correct they do that'
i mean fundamentally we are also clearly being protected by something on some level, because without some sort of psychic protection we should all have died of walking pox
Zealot anticorruption aura working overtime
Tzeench would
It's plot armor, like every other 40k citizen who lives past 5 minutes warring it up
I named my 40k puppy Cupcake and that puppy is now invincible
I'm also sure glad friendly fire isn't on like Vermintide because missions would be very short otherwise
there was an early version where it existed and they took it out
because yeah, they realized it would be constantly killing teammates with little ability to avoid it
the "complaining about being shot" voicelines are a relic of that version that they left in because they're funny and also they do let you know you've been wasting shots
we might all be ghosts fighting a forever war with other ghosts on a dead planet
Ogryn not ghost, ogryn big, ghosts thin
Beeg
Force Greatsword/Sword
Ope reply tot his
Yea we's important. Even a broken relic blade is a huge find and many astartes would put one they it in their chapter halls. Unless its a knockoff
Which knowing Grendyl aka knowing little about Grendyl it could be fake, or real.
cant play darktide :c it keeps failing to connect to the server
idk hard to argue the power weaponry that verifiably cuts through literally thousands of enemies on an average day is fake
for the sake of fun gameplay I love having cool toys
in regards to whether it makes sense or not, no it makes very little sense for us to have a lot of the gear we have access to
if only I could arm the voidsmen in my rogue trader ttrpg game with plasma guns and power swords so easily
it's the world's shittiest power sword though
gotta shake it every few swings
frankly yeah the relic blades are the weirdest
i'm willing to buy they're probably just slightly oversized power swords being sold to the zealot as "relic blades"
but if they were actualy relic blades they would not be getting handed to even high level inquisitorial operatives
the inquisitor might have one
in lore are powerswords an alway on thing or a on when you swing thing?
you can turn them on and off
you just generally uh
don't have to do it every 3 swings
also do power swords need an external power source or are they built in? I feel like some art has them connected to a tube or something and others definitely do not
Nurgle blood juice causing a short circuit
built in most of the time
like the power sword turning off all the time is definitely just for gameplay balance reasosn
the force blades needing to be charged up is more canonically reasonable, as they're powered by the psyker and depend on their concentration
honestly i was just wondering if they were kind of like a chainsword where you "rev" on swing
and they sit in an idle but powered state standard, then flare up on the swing or something
i think you can use them that way but most people wouldn't bother
it's basically like, hitting the on button as you swing
why would you hit the off button if you're about to just swing it again
big shrug, maybe to preserve a temperamental battery or something, because everything is old as fuck and variably maintained.
the power swords are the most weird honestly because they're relatively standardish issue for the imperial guard
like, you won't see a normal guardsman with them but like, a captain might have one
so in terms of "stuff the inquisition could have recovered from the battlefield and handed to rejects" they're actually fairly likely
the inquisition i think can also just requistion them
because again, standard guard kit
so they should be functional
<@&1042950387478560878> 🗡️
I'll be free to tide in 20 minutes, feel free to run one without me

I can play one or two, give me just a minute
perfect
just let us know when you're ready and we'll send you another invite
@mint yew ?
can hop on soon
mister e (darktide streamer) is rating classes and I'm giggling at his scale
@mint yew how far through your mission are you?
not far, I would not expect me to be on tonight
😔
Oh hey he's one of 2 darktide youtubers I watch
Him and Reginald, mister E has fun builds. If it weren't for loner being a bad aura for teammates I'd run rat king 25/8 I love stealth zealot
This is written in the wrong way right? Is it supposed to be -30% heat generation?
Supposed to be, yeah. Fatshark changed the tooltips to read the bonuses from the code so you get weird stuff like that
I have concerns about the code naming scheme given what "generation" means lol
"templates.weapon_trait_bespoke_plasmagun_p1_reduced_overheat_on_critical_strike" is a positive number that subtracts from 100 to get the new modifier so yeah there we go
Anyone else having texture streaming issues since hotfix 1.8.3? It seems there's a really small texture buffer and it's constantly having to reload textures like on weapon swap
I haven't noticed so far. But uh, usually I am distracted when swappign weapons ha
unrelated: why does smoke have such a short range >:|
You mean physically throwing the smoke grenade or the bubble itself?
The throw range
(Mostly I am annoyed because the achievement requires you to engulf enemies in smoke)
Oh yeah that one I'd just smoke hordes at my feet for a couple aurics, it's annoying
Some of the original classes have weird, annoying requirements. Like you needing to backstab ranged people specifically for the loner achievement
Auric mortis is a pretty good place for that
Get healing nades and 20s grenade CD if you see it and you'll have it done fast
Basically smoke becomes a healing bubble in auric mortis cause there a million snipers randomly
What is the difference between Volatile and Optimized Cooling?
the descriptions are really unclear
specifically optimized cooling is I think flat out misleading
optimized cooling reduces heat cost per shot, increasing in reduction as you get hotter
volatile reduces charge time per shot on the same scaling
Wow, ok that is a weird description messup for optimized cooling (but at least fits the name better)
@thin cliff
Anyone else having weird issues with connectivity
Lotta error 2014s going on
mic located
Switching from TAA anti aliasing to FXAA did the trick turns out, weird
Edit: it did not, the texture streaming gets real bad in a match and everything is a blurry mess
I like how shouting increases how long you can stand in tox gas
The force of your exhale pushes away the gas for a bit
<@&1042950387478560878> need 1 well geared invididual to try and hit Auric mortis trials
It's up for me on the US servers
Did they add more/better iFrames to dodges at some point? Or could you always dodge through nets/mutants?
you sorta always could but maybe not as well as you can now
idk i keep accidentally avoiding swings
I don't recall it ever changing but there might be a chance youu were using up all your dodges before, since there's no visualization of how many dodges you have
Yea the "good" dodges have frames, the "bad" ones you don't really . You can tell when you get into bad dodges territory when your dodges barely move you. Or mod for it
On average, on a fully-leveled weapon, you get four dodge points and you need to wait a second for all of them to come back
dodgeslides use two dodge points
also you have stamina management in there
I mean its a smooth gameplay loop to basically cycle between dodges and push attacks while the other is out, but dodges being separate from stamina is an interesting design choice
<@&1042950387478560878> looking for 2 to 'tide with Misc and I
i may exist
Damn the heretics are learning
the 10x headpop perk in Mortis Trials is a tiny bit silly
just exterminated about half of an Auric run by popping Telekine Dome and then spamming it while watching the ripples of lightning evaporate the hordes around the specials too
although team saved my behind from the boss squads, ty Briar and co.
The grenade ones are too
20s grenades and free grenades on 10 kills with one and big box ogyrn is happy
big box heal nade regen
We had that also, very handy
Box random grenade effects is a certified banger
and burner, and smoker
It's perfect for that one veteran smoke grenade penance
I like running grenade arbites on mortis trials
2 Ogyrns in mortis auric, woe framerate killed
4 Ogrynheimers is the CPU Killer
4 ogrynheimers is the peacemaker, after which there is a brief period of silence
Thats just exterminatus
"Ex-term-ee-nah-tus? No need! Got me a box o grenades an a Rumbler, sah!"
i did it
Which one of the ogryns would be the best baby sitter?
anyone for darktide
The bodyguard i think
Lol
Seconded. He's the wisest of the trio and still a nice fella, I trust him most with looking after a small human.
The Bully is too much of a dick, and the Brawler's just too fucking stupid, bless his soul
Huh, Lightning reflexes block stuns ranged enemies
Parried machine gun fire and Reaper just gets stunlocked
welcome back, dragon's dogma
good points
fun fact about this achievement: it doesn't say but it only counts time spend at 10 stacks. i was also running the talent that consumes all your stacks on career skill use. but now i am free
the stack consumption build seems great
not like in power but in feel
I love ebb and flow!!!
i get a better ebb and flow from terminus warrant, it's just rather annoying that the talent that makes forceful its best makes getting the related penance a real pain in the ass
I think if there were more ways to spend the Forceful stacks then it'd make more sense to get those staggers but the zoomie knockover being up every 15 seconds at best is pretty tough to cycle the stacks; these days I run Forceful with just the regen and cleave since those are always up
So the trick is, any stagger counts for forceful
For example, if you shield flash a horde
Instant 10 stacks
Or you can literally just go over and push into the front line
Save the charge for when something you need to kill now shows up, beat it to death on the ground, flashbang the horde, back at it
Every disco dance twitch the enemy does on a shock maul zappy also counts as a separate stack to run up the counter
Iirc the drop to 0 stacks ability also works
anyone up to help me level characters?
oh right you ping for that
<@&1042950387478560878> anyone want to help me level characters
oh, we'll be on in a hot minute, feel free to start one without us
Gimme a couple minutes and I can jump in, if you'll have me
1653200957
@wooden kite there's a spot open if you want
If I have 20% toughness damage resistance on my psyker (not including One with the Warp), how much of a difference will an extra 5% toughness damage resistance make?
Is it like, a barely perceivable difference, or very much perceivable?
Every bit of toughness DR helps because Psyker yo-yos toughness so much
Right
Mostly debating keeping Brain Burst or going for Smite so I can get both Toughness DR nodes
Swap over to the ol Orb Shooter so I have an answer for snipers
It stacks nicely with the bubble shield if you do grab the DR
Burst vs Smite is strictly about whether you need the help at range / vs Carapace / vs gunners
And other miscellaneous gits that're too far away
Yeah Voidstrike probably wants Smite
Don't really need much anti-Carapace, I run the Mk. 6 force greatsword
Thing just mulches carapace
The big poke is so good
...my issue is, I wanna keep my Voidblast stave, it's incredibly useful for knocking entire packs of elites onto their asses
...then again if I go Smite that'll be my answer to elite packs
I'm running Voidblast and the Mk 8 greatsword, the lights on that one handle hordes for days
I'd use the Mk. 8 but the Mk. 6 just feels
Better, somehow
Less spammy
Gotta put more thought into my combos
Mk 6 is a great single target deleter yeah
That stab is fucking nuts
Shred/Blazing Spirit is pretty decent combo though these days I'm running Wrath/Momentum
Aye, I use Blazing Spirit myself since I run a spellblade build
Now you might think, "Why are you running Blazing Spirit, you don't have an Inferno stave so you can't proc soulblaze"
BUT
I run the one blessing that procs soulfire on a ranged crit
Combine that with the talent that gurantees a ranged crit if you whack like five weakspots and soulblaze is weirdly easy to keep going
Does mean I gotta run Wildfire though
Yeah voidblast soulblaze and wildfire go good together with blazing spirit and elites giving soulblaze stacks
Wildfire only ever caps at 4 stacks on a mook which is like 50 damage a tick which ain't a lot and does add up over time with soul drinker procs and just general huge mob counts
Darktide? In pilot net? Situated entirely in one vc?
May we see it?
What do we think, drip or drown
...shame that For The Drip isn't showing up in regular third person, idk what the issue is there
Ye let's you basically instantly recover 10 stacks in a horde when you use ability to drop to 0
I crusher game so one swing usually nets 10 stacks easily even if I were starting from 0, the stagger and cleave is stronk
Enemy hit mass? I hardly
what's the blade half? Illisi 1H can proc soulblaze pretty good
I use a force greatsword
I'd use Blazing Spirit on it but I hear it only affects one singular target with the moonlight slash
Which seems pretty worthless
...though I do use Wildfire so maybe it's not a total crapshot...
I love moonlight slash
Same
It's absolutely cracked
Even with zero levels of charge it's still useful because it deals fuckloads of stagger
I have heard that Wildfire isn't terribly useful because of the cap on how it spreads
It's only really useful for Souldrinker builds
And even then it's only really useful if you're using a staff that isn't the Inferno staff
Voidblast/strike with Blazing Spirit? Indispensable. Incredibly handy talent. Makes keeping the Souldrinker buffs up and running a breeze.
Inferno? Literally just spurt out a little fire if you need some.
Yeah because soulblaze scales nonlinearly 4 stacks is way less damage than firey 15 stacks from the staff and each enemy that dies splits up their stacks to others to get them to 4 and no more so it's not a lot of base damage is the thing, it's still good for priming a crowd for super shrieks
It's about 25-35 damage per soulblaze 4-stack on mooks depending on armor type which is like 200 damage over 6 seconds kinda deal
Or soul drinker/soulflame warp charges but that's very specific use case
Is psyker good rn?
Glass cannon as it's always been, and it's always bringing some unique capacity to the team. Psykers rock at crowd control.
Tons of brittleness for friends, plenty of ammo economy boosts, all kinds of explosions
I think psykers are second worst but only on a comparative scale
They can do things no other class can, thats enough
Few can chain stagger entire roomfulls of crushers like a trauma staff
Veterans are the worst off because they have relatively fewer unique tricks
veteran needs a role redefinition, zealot needs a rework not because they're bad but because there's like 1 good build
My veteran life is simple, I left click things with plasma gun and press F off cooldown
It's kind of noticeable yeah the Arbitrator nodes are all "here's a huge awesome thing" and Veteran has to take 3 nodes per awesome thing
The veteran tree has a weird origin where it launched without keystones, but I don't think they deleted many (any?) nodes when they added them
Yeah that was the case - They shuffled around a couple nodes so it didn't take as far to get to the bottom which is why keystoneless vet goes wide, they just deleted a couple modifier nodes on Stance and Infiltrate
Psyker with exploding ground staff is great
That thing rules
also: I've earned my red tassel
The flashbang shield and maul is my favorite weapon in the game.
flashbang shield is surprisingly potennt cc
“Psyker, look at my new shield.”
“It’s very niAAAAA WHYYY”
Ogyrn just simply forgets what he was doing
Oooooo mortis trials, brahm mentions having Rannick kill a genestealer and he leaves it to Brunt who just stomps the head of it
And how there was one genestealer on the mourningstar
yeah Swagger's been there for a little bit.
My main complaint with psyker is that brain burst has been kind of left behind as everything else has gotten more killy and is as such kind of a pain to use when there's eleven zillion specials everywhere and it doesn't even oneshot a rager.
arbites dog is largely better at the same job for free, doesn't require you to stand there like an idiot charging it and does a bunch of other stuff like save you from enemy dogs
also some of the really good psyker nodes are locked behind certain blitz picks, which is a bit limiting because you really do want to give the team Psykinetic's Aura
otherwise, burny staff and dome have felt as good as they ever were
brain burst rules with empowered psyonics and both of its nodes
I think? that the "proc on attack" variant uses the Empowered Psyonics damage boost without burning a stack
Heard a friend complain about this as a psyker + 3 arbites. Dogs just running around killing everything before the psyker can respond, "why am I even here"
and with the add-ons you can press your active ability with three brain burst stacks in the tank and just hold down left click to get like six or seven pops off
Yeah brain burst needs
Something
Not even anything major it's objectively fine, it just needs
Idk, faster charge time?
And it costs nothing for arbites to do this while psyker needs to channel
There's just something about it that feels just vaguely off and it drives me nuts
Mortis trial had an interesting option, chain brain bursts
Oh yeah where you BB like 10 other guys
That one's fun but it's never getting into the base game and for VERY good reason
A lesser version would be an improvement
Yeah, maybe a twinned Burst
As if now its lackluster
It's not even bad
Great for long range picks and you can just hide behind cover while you charge it up
It just needs some sauce
Game's cracked since it was first developed, back then a crusher took effort to kill. Now like 1-2 shotting a crusher is normal
The seconds needed for brain burst you could kill a couple crusher with other options or burst down a horde.
Not to mention psyker like most classes needs to kill to keep toughness and brainburst charging is time not spent killing. Unless you spec into making it faster compared to 1 point smite being great.
Aye
Brain burst has always been a bit meh on higher difficulties. People were complaining about it on release (I think the Malice -> Damnation difficulty increase meant certain enemies no longer were killed by it in one hit. Dogs maybe?)
yeah, and it was improved
nowadays I still run it on my fire staff/dome psyker because nothing else really does the job, but I'm still sinking 10 or so talents into it just to make it basically-usable on damnation or auric
centre capstone only
big Branx Pickaxe W - this thing has such high Impact it can open up Bulwark shields
If you take Thrust/Crunch and the Impactful node on Heavy Hitter you can open Bulwarks with one near full charged Heavy + 5ish HH stacks
Fragging hell
Yeah it takes 170 stagger to pop the shield (they have 5 stagger resist) so you can do it with three headtaker lights too at 8 heavy hitter stacks since the heavy is 50 base stagger and the lights are 28 base to carapace
I made a spreadsheet to run the numbers on the impact and you in theory can knock a crusher to the ground with a full heavy 1 charged up except it kills it super dead, oops
what are the perks people usually get on their weapons again
like unyielding and maniacs damage?
depends on the weapon and the purpose and the breakpoints
but usually some combo of flak, maniac, carapace, and unyielding
Flak+maniac is what I look at first, crit isn’t bad if you’re building for it tho.
Unyielding + carapace is the tabkbusters choice
Flak and maniac if you're using the weapon for mixed clearing, carapace and unyielding if it's your boss buster weapon
oh, sometimes more rarely unarmored
Everything else doesn't matter much, nobody should be running extra damage against poxwalkers
specifically for breakpoints on dreg gunners
Unarmored is surprisingly relevant on melee with the dreg and scab mooks
I'm a renegade though and throw on a lot of +2 stamina and +5% crit and 10% reload speed perks
All bosses are also unarmored
very hard to justify anything but "+25% damage to annoying guys" on your weapons honestly
Yeah +25% infested can mean the difference between 1 pox walker a swing and 3
Edit: though on tip top Havoc they get chunky enough each one has the beef of a scab bruiser at 490 health and 4.05 hit mass
I haven't actually tried Havoc since I got back into the game a few days ago
looking forward to throwing burnmaster psyker at it
Yeah the horde hit mass bump is why infinite cleave on the flames is so good
that reminds me that I need to adjust that build since it's still where it was years ago and it's so much easier to get good gear now
where's the brittleness creation thingy
Do you mean unyielding?

i do love bolter cop tho
