<@&1042950387478560878> tarp darp?
see if we cant get any more in that time
I really need to ping this group more often.
coming back to the game after a LONG break, like, stopped playing before the itemization update
im looking to get a good relic blade, no idea where i should start lookin for one
Melk's if you're lucky, otherwise just check brunt's and if he doesn't have any nice ones on rotation then but grey ones to upgrade
If you mean unlocked and unloaded update then the tldr is now you can upgrade and change almost every aspect of a weapon using resources so RNG is much less a factor. The one thing you can't really change is the weapon's maximum potential stats
Me personally I went with 80% damage/80% finesse/80% heat mangement/60% mobility/80% power output
Cheers
remind me what's the ideal base powerlevel again
So that's not super important anymore for weapons since you can upgrade any weapon to power level of 500
Powerlevel basically is for how much resources you want to spend to get to 500, it kind of is a resource sink starting off if you don't have many ideal power level 500 weapons yet
Brunt sells up to 380 if you want to minimize spending plasteel/diamantine
oooo gotcha
What's kind of interesting about Melk vs Brunt is you save a lot of materials buying at Melk since it's already 500 and orange and the Melk weapons tend to have well rounded stats while the Brunt weapons tend to be more expensive to get up and running but have easily identifiable dump stats if you're looking to target a specific stat
Yea since you pretty much can't change stats maximums it's very quick and forgiving to get "god rolls" easily
Even buying greys from brunt the chances of getting a perfect roll isn't bad, I often get the stat maxes I want in less than 12 greys
And that's assuming I didn't get it via melk or brunt's rotating shop
I very appreciate that
Curios on the other hand, I have like 2 21% HP, 1 17% toughness, and 3 +3 Staminas are my only max ones
Fatshark said consider +9 staminas from curios
Yeah the itemization update was real rough on curios because the really tip top ones need 420 power or better and they're real rare to see
Yea curios i'd say lke 19-20% HP or 15-16% toughness is good enough to upgrade to legendary just to have good curio perks now than wait a long time for a chance at a perfect one
Yeah a 20% health and a 16% toughness pair of curios is super easy to get from Melk and will carry a long time
I was not expecting the combat shotgun to be so accurate, but it's a welcome change to most video game shotguns.
If you get the one with the slug it's basically a sniper rifle
Although run and gun basically makes the combat shotgun a sniper rifle
Since it just affects spread in general
The base shotgun is slug when you aim down sights also
Is it? I didn't know that, I only know the weapon special that loads a slug round into one of the combat marks
That one fires a slug regardless of ADS
something about the backend jank makes shotguns way more effective than they should be at range while ADS
That tracks for darktide's backend
What it is is the shotguns have different damage profiles from the hip and ADS and the combat shotguns really tighten up the spread while ADS and the Zarona loses a lot of cleave while ADS
Interesting bit about different damage profiles, I don't know the ones for ranged weapons
I was regularly one-shotting like lightly armored enemies across the arenas from when I was using it so it's pretty damn accurate without a ton of fall off.
The Veteran left side tree is really good with them because you can pinpoint blast weak spots good
I was using it on Zealot and I'm more interested in Veteran's central tree anyways.
Yeah both do really good with them, Zealot likes picking off shooters with it and blasting chaff while Vet central tree gets the super target marks
Very funny and very ogryn that the Grenadier gauntlet is basically a second melee weapon that has a ranged secondary function.
I think all of the Ogyrns ranged weapon Melee count as heavy melee
The Ogyrn basically has 2 Melee weapons all the time
its not
I don't remember if fully dumping mobility on the sword doesn't cost you a dodge
I think there was some reason to keep it a bit above 60
I wanted to invest some more in my smokepilled vet build but I can't help but wonder if frag nading the gunners won't be a better use of the same setup
death is the best form of CC strikes again
All of the Ogryn ranged weapons have a melee special, but the primary fire for the Grenadier gauntlet is a straight up melee attack.
Hell it has a heavy attack. It's straight up a melee weapon that replaces the block with a ranged attack.
the significance of gun bashes counting as heavy melee specifically is that ogryn has a couple dozen heavy melee talents
In later Havoc setups Smokes are absurdly valuable, and I think you can make a fair argument for them in Auric Malestroms
Would leave them at home otherwise
Smokes are interesting because in theory they're portable Psyker bubbles
Yea even for gun Ogyrns being able to gun butt a horde mob to death to proc the heavy Melee kill buffs is pretty good
Many Ogyrn nodes are specifically heavy Melee and not just general Melee kills so that's why the special Melee being heavy Melee is important
The thing that puts shredder over smoke for me is that shredder is effective against Melee enemies too so it kills gunners but also you basically can throw 2 shredders into any mixed horde and pretty much everything but Ogyrns will be dead. I don't remember if smoke does anything for Melee enemies.
Bubble is useful for Melee since it grants toughness regen for those inside.
Higher end havoc where absolutely shutting down gunner packs is basically top priority is where smoke shines
Outside of that the versatility of shredders wins out imo
There's a niche thing you can do with smokes when you're going right side vet where you save a couple points and skip 60s grenade regen in the middle for 5% grenade regen on elite / special kill and that's usually enough smokes to get through a mission
Oh that's interesting
<@&1042950387478560878>
Barktide
Finally got that penance rucksack for my Ogryn, finally rounding out one of his looks.
farttide
Realizing the existence of the heavy attack skills on Ogryn has rewired my brain.
Try it with the gun special attacks!
All of the gun special melees being heavy melee means you get a lot of the buffs even gun lugging
no way to sacrifice blessings on weapons to add them to your collection right
If you sacrifice a weapon with a blessing you unlock it early on that weapon. So sacrificing a Combat Shotgun witha tier 4 run and gun blessing means all combat shotguns marks can now be reblessed with tier 4 run and gun even if the weapon mastery doesn't have tier 4 blessings yet
Otherwise you unlock all blessings via maxing out mastery for weapon
Wait, what. Did they change that after the rework release?
Or did you have to re-sacrifice for that? Or was I dumb and never noticed?
The old method was Hadron would eat the blessings to add to your blessing sticker book, the new method is you get blessings through mastery and any fun blessings you get on the new items are just for free
Yea, you'll get them all eventually via mastery leveling but sacrificing let's you unlock that specific tier of that blessing on that weapon early. Mastery isn't a huge grind and if you buy Brunt weapons of the one you're leveling you can power level by buying any non Grey's to sacrifice for mastery XP and even Greys you just upgrade to green to sacrifice
The flamer feels weird and not good.
the flamer is extremely good at the specific thing it is for
it is not good at anything else and you have to basically build around having it
either by taking gap closing to chase ranged (charge/stealth) or by running knives
so you have an option for that fucking sniper
I see, I'm guessing that thing is poxwalker hoard clearing.
in return you are basically never bothered by hordes ever again
and it has infinite cleave so you can roast ragers and armor and whatever through the crowd, killing them or softening them up for your buddies to pick off
The flamer gets better at higher difficulties where more guys appear at once
this results in it having a weird inverse bell curve of usefulness, it's very good when you're not good at fighting hordes in melee and want something to make that problem go away, it becomes kind of a deadweight as you improve and can mostly deal with hordes using your melee, and then it's very good again in very high level play because you simply cannot spare the time to melee your way through that horde on havoc 40
It's a bit anemic at low challenge levels where there's only a handful of dudes.
After seeing how much enemies with flamers fucked me up I expected it to be like that. I'm kind of disappointed.
an optimized flamer is basically that for the enemies
anything that isn't in full armor just dies
and if you take the brittleness blessing even the armor dies pretty fast
and, similar to enemy flames, it ignores any enemy-held obstructions
so if you've got a bunch of bulwarks blocking your ability to stab something it'll go right past 'em
and set fire to whatever is behind them too
The easiest level 5 mission I ever had was when it was like 2 flamer psykers, a flamer zealot and I think some third psyker (this was many patches ago though)
Turns out heretics have a hard time living if the air is constantly on fire
Flamer has an extremely useful tech with blades of faith where you can animation cancel to shoot the flamer immediately after throwing the knife
And if you spec it like the others says it'd kill everything in a mixed horde that isn't an Ogyrn so you'd very likely kill several elites to essentially refund the blade you threw
With piety and everlasting you can hold flamers for a ridiculously long time
So at I'd say even heresy you'll kill at least 1 elite per horde just blind firing into a horde and you'd get your knife back and gets better the higher difficulty you go since you get more elites and specials in hordes
The difference between an optimized flamer and one you pick random blessings is very big
With the unlocked and unloaded it's like the best horde clear gun and a monster at it
what are the ideal flamer blessings?
I've got a real nice Zealot that rocks a a two-handed chain sword, flamer, and knives. She's a beast and I'm real happy with her current wardrobe.
Depends on if you're running blazing piety, everlasting flames with blazing piety.
Generally it's blaze away as it affects the DOT damage and is a significant damage boost.
2nd perk for not piety depends, penetrating flame is lets you kill humanoid armored enemies easier but a decent support option for bosses/crushers
Some people take quickflame if they lean heavily on flamer to reduce downtime but me personally like penetrating flame better cause it kills maulers/armored ragers quicker before they can get into melee
I think overpressure still only affects the direct flame damage and not dot which the direct damage is fairly low
They supposedly fixed it not applying to dot a while back but if you test it in psyk it doesn't really affect how quickly the dot kills
It seems like the recon lasgun chews through enemies just as quickly as it does ammo.
If you get Shock Trooper + Deadshot in the left tree it gets a lot more ammo efficient
I'm honestly kind of torn between you and the regular lasgun. I'm going down the central tree so I'm guessing regular is going to be better for that.
I mean, you've got a fair bit of leeway
Fair. Since I got krak grenades as a decticated "fuck armored enemies" button I might take recon for horde defense.
I'll be honest I kind of wish veteran had an ultimate similar to Outcast Engineers from vermintide 2 except instead of a steam powered Gatling gun it's a hotshot lasgun.
An odd candidate for recon lasgun is psyker due to their high crit chance and on crit talents
Combines with infernus it kills most enemies you can hurt with little ammo and also cleave talent makes it go a lot further per shot
re: the flamer, it's really funny to me that in the tide games build variety massively opens up instead of shrinking as you go up in difficulty, at least until some modded CBT insanity
because most effects need you to be doing things to function
and there aren't enough things to be done on low dif
I like Blaze Away/Penetrating flame myself
relic blade feels good
You using the Mk X or the Mk 2? They're both neat
Especially ones on elite or specialists kill, before malice they're mid but afterwards they become godly
Same with rending once flak becomes common
Also hit mass and cleave, horde density is a helluva drug
Once I learned staggering dudes cuts their hit mass that was a world of new possibilities
<@&1042950387478560878> we are once again asking tidetide
(once we get laundry started, will be ~10)
I can tide in 10
Does it? Feel like I learn a new darktide mechanic every week
I am a chronic shover and I use stagger specials judiciously especially with dueling sword so I never really noticed hit mass issues aside from maulers and crushers and now I know why
The basically instant staggers after a heavy Melee is so good
Because nothing in Darktide is ever easy to explain, here's the table from the code translated:
[stagger_types.explosion] = 50% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.heavy] = 50% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.shield_broken] = 50% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.wall_collision] = 50% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.medium] = 25% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.shield_heavy_block] = 25% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.killshot] = 10% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.light] = 10% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.light_ranged] = 10% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.shield_block] = 10% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.sticky] = 50% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.electrocuted] = 10% hit mass reduction,
[stagger_types.blinding] = 10% hit mass reduction,```
There's different stagger types? If it like heavy is when they fall over?
And light or medium they just stumble back a bit
The dueling sword poke is coded as an uppercut so it can do uppercut = {light, medium} stagger animations and not the heavy where they fall over yeah
I talk about the categories and animation types a bit in my Steam Guide linked back here:
#1159883850562932826 message
I think the whole randomized mission thing is neat because it lets the missions have modifiers and stuff, but I really wish there was a way you would just pick what mission you want to play on what difficulty you want ala Vermintide 2.
Understandable but it would have the VT2 problem where everyone ignores the "bad" missions and only play the "good" or fast ones
Fair
Rolling Steel kind is still that problem golden child, every time it pops up a good number of games are that
And conversely the twins at like damnation it's not uncommon to start with bots only then have quick play players trickle in
Inuyasha windscar
first you mispelGetsuga Tenshō ut why the gauge is divided in two ?
Gauge? Like the zealot relic blade or the psyker for e greatsword?
Is the force greatsword good cause that warpshock slash activates neurons.
It charges with kills then you use the special attack the charge the blade to do a sword beam attack.
Very good
Very, very good
Good
I have two more thoughts on psyker. A) the electric staff feels like a mix of single target and group damage and b) the left tree feels like it has a very fun loop of pop heads, use ability to clear perils and make space, then pop more heads.
Electrostaff with crit blessing is a strong cheap single target and the shock is great cc for small groups while doing good damage
Easy to stun lock rager groups and kill the with a few shocks
Brain burst normally feels too slow for me but the talent tree is proc by chance is really nice for no action brain pop and middle keystone makes casting it quicker so targets aren't killed before it finishes
it's so cool that they let psyker designate targets for their team
Yeah. The augmented version work charges faster after you use your ability is so much fun. Add to it wildfire and perilous combustion and it can be a nice way to clear hordes surrounding big enemies too.
Early games psykers before level 5 don't know what the ability does
Never gets to successfully cast
is there a way to turn off that filter when you're at high corruption? i checked the settings last night but couldn't find it
mod
aw dag nabbit
in other news, what melee do y'all like to pair with the flamer? i tried a chainaxe and found myself discontent with it
Also. Savant best personality.
Unsurprisingly I like dueling sword and knife for carapace
Depending on how much you go on the flamer cause piety with everlasting can basically use flamer more than Melee if ammo drops are plentiful
Flamer only really struggles with crushers so a Melee for crusher is good
I don't use the Duelling Swords out of principle
I thought it was gonna change with new weapons
But I guess they don't have near future plans to change it, so I'll use it while I can if I'm on a losing streak
im personally avoiding duelling swords so i don't end up crutching on em if that makes sense
cuz i reckon they'll get nerfed
I'm guessing Dueling Swords are very good?
Dueling Swords don't do what I want which is brittleness stacks or huge cleave so they don't bother me being good at single target
They got new blessings with Unlocked and Loaded update and Vet and Zealot can use 'em now not just Psyker so they do pretty good at busting mutants and crushers with minimal investment
You don't need that lol
Duelling Swords cleave down hordes just fine and can two-tap Crushers with only a bit of investment
And they have infinite dodges
Brittleness helps bust monstrosities which is my number one concern these days
If you're running Vet you have Krak nades and/or a bunch of ranged weapon monstrosity busting weapons
Vet specifically I'd rather have a Devil's Claw on a Krak build (for stamina and the parry)
I'm interested on what the monstrosity gun combos are supposed to be besides Vraks infantry auto because they all feel pretty slow compared to triple infiltrate kraks
Plasma's okay on weak spot, just has to vent
Good old bolter, I do like it with shattering impact and puncture
1 ones hot body shot with zealot shroud field and thrust
It's broken considering it's insane low setup rapid single target, attacks quick, good crit chance, strong mobility stat.
It doesn't clear hordes fast on its own but for Zealot and veterans they can use it well to handle hordes. It was originally a psyker weapon that was overall stronger cause it was exclusive to psyker which has low dedicated Melee support talents to be on par with other classes.
Then they released it to veteran and zealot which have strong dedicated Melee talent support
And that's kind of the issue is that zealot especially turns most any mediocre Melee weapon good and something like the dueling sword to extremely good and outperforms many other single target options while having few of the same weaknesses
It's not just a strong mobility stat, it's the best mobility in the game
On par with the knife, amazing dodges with enhanced move speed
I thought it was slightly slower than knife but not by much
Ok actually same sprint speed just dodge distance and extra dodge
But yea very strong in every category except horde clear which it is not bad at, being able to handle every threat on its own is a big boon
Relic Blade+Bolt Pistol feels real good
(Still in love with Heavy Eviserator+Combat Shotgun)
Bolt Pistol is good eatings after it was buffed
I'm very late to add to this, but Onslaught on the right side of the Vet tree, just above the weapon swap keystone, gives you 2.5% Brittleness on hit, up to 16 stacks, which results in a 200% DPS increase for the Recon on average in my experience. 180s it into being able to shred carapace surprisingly well and the armor reduction also pumps up Infernus ticks if you're also running that.
When I haven't played for a day or 2 my warmup games I use relic blade with cranial and Heatsink for powered mode spam and it is fun.
Onslaught also translates very well for the non-braced autogun if your'e a fan of that
Next to the brittle talent is reciprocity which gives you crit chance on dodge so if you play real close range with lasgun to dodge very slow and chereographes horde mobs you get great crits chancea
Not needed if you run weapon specialist
On a different note, how do you build a Surge staff? Every time I look at the available blessings I'm just befuddled why most of them are there and why there aren't any Surge-unique options
If I take surge on a staff I use electrokinetic since it has good crit chance
Especially with warp nexus
Easily around 50% crit so surge procs a lot
Sorry, I forgot they're called Electrokitetics now, I'm still used to them being called Surge staffs
And it's strong single target with LMB headshots
Oh I take Surge blessing and warp nexus for the reasons I stated
You can often kill crushers with about 6 left clicks to head with high peril
Yeah, my assumption was just go all-in on crit stuff, but even then they just feel weirdly weak? I might just be stupid, but they don't feel great to me
You should be able to kill crushers with LMB spam in less the time it'd take to do an empowered brain burst with the right crit build
With the pew pews? How? I'm doin' fuck all in the psykanium right now
Do you have surge blessing, warp nexus, and above 70% peril? I'll take a look at the psyker build I used
Are you running +10% Rending above 75%?
So that talent if it's the one next to empyric resolve actually does nothing as it's bugged
At the moment, yes, and I'm not killing crushers with anywhere near the speed your describing
And I assume you're talking about the normal left click, not the zaps
Key talents for the build is perfect timing, , warp rider with carapace damage perk on staff
I don't think they've changed it recently, that one I used a build I saw and not psyk testing I justed into a mission
Like, I can pew pew spam Maulers into oblivion, but Crushers just get tickled, and I have everything you're listing
Only things I could think to swap are to the elite damage or crit auras from my current choice of CD reduction
Do you have Surge, Warp Nexus, and Scrier's Gaze? Only the crits will do anything vs carapace
This is not a Wizard Eyes build, no. That's the only thing I'm missing
Wizard Eyes was not listed earlier
I usually wind up using a force sword on crushers just because it's easier to stagger them
Surge staff itself will do about 1k on charged hit at range and about 2x 400 on surge crit to most targets with primary so it can run the numbers up good
I just tested in psyk and I must have misremembered as it's not as fast as I thought it's only faster than like 4 full charged zappeds to kill via LMB spam
And by LMB spam we are talking about the pew pew bolts and not uncharged zaps, right? Because I think my confusion is coming from that
Yea left mouise bolts
Ok, you didn't mention Kinetic Flayer earlier, that explains everything
I forgot I run that with electro staff so that's my bad
I run mine with 6 warp charges which helps a bit
I did run warp charges on that too
I'll admit I'm not a fan of KF for possibly insane reasons, but you having it would explain why you're exploding Crushers with LMB spam
Mostly to reduce ability CD on venting shriek
When I run electrostaff with flames I often never feel the need to use smite or assail so I default to brain burst with auto bursting since i'd almost never use my blitz
I mostly look at the 15 second internal CD on it and wonder why I'd ever spend a point on something I don't have any reliable control over with such a long CD
15 seconds on like a 20 minute mission adds up
To a lot of free casts you don't need to spend actions to use
But, again, I won't claim to be an expert on its efficacy
Also brainburst goes down a good tree for soulflames
Which smite also goes down but if you don't use smite it's not being used, brain burst talent for 10% chance to proc on hit benefits you even if you rarely blitz
Free damage estate mostly - it's about 40k damage over a mission
And since it's on hit it rarely procs on trash mobs that get one shot, you often have to hit tougher enemies more times so the chances of you one shotting an enemy via brainburst that would otherwise take multiple is higher than brain bursting a mob you bodyshot
If the build uses blitzs often then I'd say use that blitz instead
On that front it thankfully already only triggers on things you can tag (Elites, Specials, Monsters) so trash mobs are never a concern
Any advice for a bullgryn build? I want my Ogryn to be a fucking wall for my team.
Found a new nickname in a public game, horus hears a who
I need a funny nickname for my psyker and vet
My Ogyrn is Jeen-Steel-Ur, my zealot is Kinswoman-Of-Feud which is visually distinct from a sister of combat, and my veteran Executor-Yorrick which is also legally distinct from any commissars that resemble her
shield or no shield?
either way imo the bleed on heavies is mandatory no matter what the rest of your tree looks like because you drown in trash without it
Recently started playing again, greatsword psyker running scrier and disrupt destiny is so much fun
Disrupt destiny is a lot of satisfaction for me since it just keeps highlighting "kill this next >:)" and I kill that next and get rewarded with more damage and speed and kill and kill and kill and-
I just follow the blue silhouettes and when I run out of those I go to the next area
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9dd9098d-1086-4dec-b5cc-ceee7dce1868/we-trying-stuff-and-stun-grenade i'll try this shit
okay stun grenade is a bit underwhelming
How so?
It work well for its purpose but maybe the horde I use it one was too small and i didn't found enough nade cache to use it as often as i'd like
I'm just try things out, I'll check out the knife next
but it seems to be bit overkill with a bolt pistol since i use that one for long range head shot
(maybe with a shotgun...)
i forgor i can't aim the knife lol
The big win with knives is being able to headshot gunners when caught with a melee
Can confirm this build rules
If the gunners get you, Scrier's can be swapped out for rectangle shields for a panic button
Just running 3x gunner resistance on curios, I will not be stopped by a mere 7000 bullets
I should try that sometime, I usually do 2 toughness regen 1 stamina regen
- 2x Toughness (+16/17%) / 1x Stamina (+3)
all have - 4% ability regen
- 5% toughness
- 20% gunner damage resist
for psyker stuff. sometimes 3x toughness instead of the stamina
veteran definitely gets 3x toughness-maxing curios because having > 200 toughness is rad
Goes great with the toughness damage reduction over 75%
Yeah, just a beefstick. I used to run plasma gun too so just deleting specials/elites
Veteran I've learn is great with right side and out for blood over center for first nodes
The loss of TDR is less noticeable when out for blood let's you get like 200 toughness off of a single shredder
But is just any close kill so if you're out of nades and shout is on CD and there's no specialists in sight a few plasma shots get you back like a quarter toughness so basically strong toughness every second you're killing
Also psyker is a class I don't play often, what makes scryer good for Melee? I'm been wanting to play with force greatsword more and I've just been running a soulflames heavy build with venting shriek and warp charges with souldrinker
Speed boost and toughness damage reduction moreso than crit and finesse
Comboing crit speed boost up top with Scrier's and Disrupt Destiny is what I call "Psyonik the Hedgehog"
Another one is disrupt destiny, I'm not sure what other talents to pair gaze and destiny with
(Time to try veteran for the first time any tips ?)
Bring one weapon good vs armor and one vs lighter dudes and grenade anything scary
Veteran gets a fun cover fire mechanic
Scryers gaze melee psyker is so fun even if my chance of death increases dramatically over a more safe bubble or flame build
Scrier's Gaze + Force Greatsword is a load of fun because you press F and instantly turn into a melee blender with laods of speed and crit chance and damage and finesse, while Disrupt Destiny is constantly feeding you highlighted targets to kill for stacking precision bonus for more damage, crit damage, and weakspot daamge.
Then if you're careful (or take Warp Unbound) when you hit 100% peril and your Scrier's Gaze turns off, you use the sword's alt-attack and cleave whatever is left of the mob at the waist with a final huge attack
The swooshy wave is so powerful in its correct ranges
I died often when I just copied a gaze build so I was wondering if it was like Melee glassier cannon psyker and a skill issue ok my part. I'm used to Zealot and the many ways they can just avoid dying
It's definitely not some kinda murder-tank like how zealot can be, but you're still getting lots of good bonuses from psyker peril and the greatsword is just really fun to use (I prefer mk6)
Sadge i'm too zealot pilled to play smart
Yeah Psyker having to kill for toughness regen can be rough
The bane of tide games, the moment you can't kill you die. Specialists out there ending matches
Mutants springing forth from behind a poxburster, for eternity
Or trying to get through a doorway to progress and there is a surprise bulwark behind the corner with a trapper behind it, but you already press dodged on hearing the net but didn't see the 2nd trapper
Or fan favorite, crusher pack camping elevator exit with poxbursters hiding nearby
The worst part of melee/gunker is not making as much peril to trigger all the peril based toughness regen talents lol
I thought that was what gazer and the one melee talent that reduces peril on melee weakspot kill was for, you combine it with toughness on quelled peril and pace your killings
You can't stay in gaze forever. But I'm sure it helps a lot
(still way easier with a staff)
That was an issue I had with gaze builds, the like 15 seconds i'm not gazing i'm tissue paper
Most of the problem is how I'm used to playing psyker granted. So I panic when I don't have an easy way to increase my toughness lol
Does smash 'em and the best defense stack?
It's an either or situation, if you have both then whether you hit one or multiple you get 20% toughness
is the helbore lasgun good for elit killing ?
Yeah it sure is, both for stabbing and shooting
good
Got it.
They effectively stack in the sense of "You used a heavy attack and it hit, get 20% toughness, regardless of target count"
I generally take both for the sheer convenience it provides since Ogryn Melee builds are practically nothing but heavy spam
Fair. I am leaning slightly more shooty for my Bullgryn tho, the shield is nice for tanking but the included maul is a bit underwhelming compared to the standalone one.
Bullgryn goes great with a Can Opener Ripper or a Rumbler, very versatile
I assume it's a trade off for shield being able to tank anything like a daemonhost
Convinence extends to times you use a ranged weapons too as the specials on almost every oygrn ranged weapon is a heavy Melee and being to benefit from a single heavy Melee hit is very nice
The ideal shield build does not use light attacks like
Barely at all
You do Heavy 1 -> Block Cancel -> Heavy 1 until the end of days and it's monstrously effective
less efficient into anything that isnt havoc moebian hordes is the thing
heavy 1 has better stagger and damage properties but less cleave
direct heavy spam is better into moebian hordes because you need heavy 2's extra cleave to get through their additional mass
but heavy 1 spam has better TTK in all other situations
idc about ttk as long as theyre on their ass theyre not hurting the team
i prefer to be optimal as i can, so
I never thought about it but does hit mass affect the number of enemies you can stagger? Heavy staggered enemies have lowered hit mass but would still count towards hit mass for damage.
If it did then having a bunch of enemies on the ground alive would reduce the number of enemies you can stagger with the next attack in terms of preventing damage so dead would seem better as dead means 0 hit mass to worry about
Stagger/damage counts down by target count separate from hit mass consumption - stuff like bully clubs will stagger more dudes than they damage as a result of the damage ramp down not so much the cleave
Heavy 1 on the shield has 12.5 base cleave which is good for 9 poxwalkers while heavy 2 has infinite cleave, heavy 1 does over double the damage to the first 3 targets than heavy 2 but past 3 targets they do the same to the 4th and heavy 2 does 75% to targets 5+
Funny enough the moebian guys have the same base hit mass as poxwalkers they just benefit 25% from the flak bits
I see that's good to know, infinite cleave on heavy 2 seems wild
vermintide had very funny builds in the form of blunderbuss stock bashes that had the exact same profile as shield heavies but came out faster
never tried that in darktide
I think all non ogryn guns consume stamina on bashes
should i go for assail or smite for boltpistol/greatsword scryer psyker ?
Smite since it gives you a crowd-control tool you otherwise don't have coverage for. If you need to blow something up at range you have the pistol and if you need to mulch a crowd you have scryer greatsword
sometimes you just need to tell the whole room to chill for a sec
Also smite can easily get you a ton of peril if you need the talent effects and don't have gaze
hello erm, I just bought darktide
just heard that the game is finally functional with all the necessary bits and it's on discount sooooo, figure I should try it out
I'm gonna go with at first zealot, because since this game has a good melee mechanic in a FPS game, I might as well go for the class that will use it the most
if I go with veteran I'm just gonna be playing like every other FPS
You'd think so, but melee is a very significant factor on all classes.
yeah I have heard about that
Depending how you're set up with talents, melee is the compliment to whatever your ranged weapon is. In some cases you'll be using your ranged weapon a lot, other times your melee weapon is being used nigh constantly to herd crowds. Inversely your melee might be a single-target armor penetrator.
All four classes are good though. Be sure to try them all.
I've been having a ton of fun with force greatsword psyker, running around just cutting things in half.
that's my idea, just going around like a crazy wizard with a sword
but for now, just gonna be a normal crazy people with a sword
There are Veteran builds where you can mainline ranged, but they're using very specific weapons and setups
hordes are just too numerous in number and frequency to clear out with 95% of ranged options without burning huge swathes of ammo, especially at 4 and up
hmm okay
There's absolutely ranged weapons that can scythe through hordes, like the Braced/Infantry Autoguns, Recon Lasguns, especially the Zealot Flamer, and the Ogryn TL Stubbers
I absolutely will just charge in with a shovel as a vet and start chopping.
here we go, my zealot, an absolutely tiny lady who got arrested for trying to organize a protest for more food and water in her work hub
related, giving starter advice is pretty tough because honestly the classes have much more defined weaknesses than in vermin
For a while Veteran can blast through hordes with grenades and a little bit of melee though at the highest difficulties there's just more dudes than grenades
so it's a very pick your poison situation
Zealot's big deal as a starter is that the charge gives them a bigger next melee hit that busts armor good and can be aimed by holding the ability button so you can cover huge ground and bust a big dude
(at low level) veteran is asthmatic, zealot dies to a sneeze, psyker is just kinda there and ogryn isn't there, he's still fighting 3 trash mobs several rooms behind
sighs
okay so, it looks like my computer is only just able to handle the game, but it's still taking quite a bit to run it
freaking armored core 6 didn't even run my computer this hot
I think I will refund it and get something else
Unfortunate - it is pretty intense on the requirements
maybe I will check it out again when i get a newer computer in a few years
I was able to get vermintide running smoothly on my previous PC that coughed and begged for release with just in-game settings
instead using launch commands, console and nvidia control panel
and it didn't look particularly worse than lowest vanilla
running smoothly isn't the problem, but it's running my computer hot
for all of 30 minutes, it does feel like a pretty fun horde shooter, but it's just too much
https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9ddb4315-9ac0-4598-8ce3-28e585c9c013/actually-i-want-to-play-zealot Rn i'm running this on, psyker
Yeah while I advertise this game as having RTX flamethrowers, the optimal situation is the computer tower is not the flamethrower
Did you pick the Judge personality? Thats the most socially conscious of all the Zealot personalities and lays the blame of people turning to chaos at the hands of the higher ups who create the conditions for them
also yeah vet is still gonna spend at least 50% of the time in melee save for certain specific builds
and theres even a section of the tree dedicated to melee vet where you melee most of the time and pull your ranged weapon out to blap someone to buff your melee
yup, I did pick the judge
honestly i like all the voice lines at this point, they all have their charm points and its fun hearing them play off each other
<@&1042950387478560878> tide tide!!
Ironically zealot the melee class has the best ranged weapon if you want to go 95% range with the flamer. It's pretty ammo efficient despite being able to handle most things short of carapace and monsters
But yea even veteran being the "ranged" class you're likely spending more time using melee and it's like 50/50 split on ranged and melee, often melee the trash and ranged anything that needs to be killed and isn't in stabbing range. Zealot just swings the other way with you can basically play 95% melee and only pull out a ranged attack for specialists you can't immediately bonk
Psyker probably is a class you could go mostly non melee as it's easy to bulid around warp stuff and not care about ammo at all
go twin linked stubber gungryn and take all the ammo for yourself
I downloaded the scoreboard mod just to verify I was shooting 4,000 to 6,000 rounds each match as stubber ogryn
I don’t have anything else going on today, ping whenever

It's all fun and games until you get a recon lasgun veteran or gun psyker that can get to ammo boxes first
The hard part about knife zealot is picking up ammo crates despite having full ammo cause you need blades to yeet
I promise I can put them to use even if it looks like i'm wasting ammo boxes
run high rof inf autogun to always need ammo and knife
Zealot needs a melee weapon that uses ammo to become the ultimate ammo hog
I am a walking auric no ammo modifier
killing floor 2 pulverizer
hammer explosive pump action shotgun kaboom mallet
Zealots would very much tape a bolter pistol to their knuckles
Plasma veteran can do a whole lot of gunning just by virtue of "Regen ammo when killing specials, also you one-tap most specials" and you just run around critting anything that can be pinged
Be a squad leader support with voice of command and the target-mark talent to debuff monstrosities with immediate damage vulnerabilities
What's kind of interesting is Havoc has invisible modifiers as you go up to 40 that kill your ammo pickups by up to -85% (including from boxes) so there's a lot of stabbing to be done at high havoc
Fatshark and hidden mechanics, name a better duo.
You could tell me the game at havoc 30+ runs a background check and I'd be like not surprised so what's the best credit score for havoc.
<@&1042950387478560878> darp tark
@twilit cradle I'll be free in 30 minutes to barktide if y'all are still going

They nailed the bolt pistol. It feels like you're firing a .75 caliber rocket propelled explosive round into a heretic, with all the kickback that that should have.
The bolt pistol is strong but it feels very light to me it draws quick like stub revolver and shoots quick and resets recoil fairly fast for something that does good damage. Spearhead to me feels like a bolter as it has giga recoil and body shots will knock over almost every enemy on hit and often stagger small ones nearby
Going full auto on spearhead feels like you're trying to wrangle a bull to point at an enemy
Run 'n' Gun on a Bolt Pistol is the wildest thing
Its good
Lethal proximity is basically mandatory for bolt pistol
Its very powerful
I like Puncture on both bolter and pistol
Lethal proximity is pretty great against gunner packs
Or most enemies cause they'll always be surrounded by stagger able horde mobs
I like puncture for monsters I don't want to really melee
Power sword or Chain on vet?
Actually, power sword gets a lot more mileage imo
Weapon Specialist saves its completely awful dodges
Power sword is strong with weapon specialist since it's not a weapon you want to swing unpowered often but I find it annoying to charge it often every 3 swings if it's like a dense mixed horde
Chainsword I guess also has similar issues
i find the chain weapons work since their charged mode is generally for 'fuck this guy in particular'
whereas the uncharged swings are adaptable enough
I didnt use chainsword a lot but heavy evis does decent enough against most flak with heavy uncharged even if it's gets stopped it can be one shot. Maulers and crushers need the Rev and often just the one heavy swing depending on build
So at least for heavy evis you don't need to Rev often
In my use of the chainsword I only ever did special rev to mulch crushers/ogryns and bosses, otherwise it just works fine as-is
Ok so chainsword is also as good, i never figured out powersword once i maxxed mastery i just left it
The relic blade is probably how it should be but that came after powrd sword
I prefer my vet melee as an "oh shit no time to aim" button and chain sounds better for that.
what's the difference between relic blade and power sword exactly, since they are both some kind of forcefield blades?
in terms of actual description and gameplay
why Martydom zealot is so fun ?
Power swords are usually one handed and can be brand new, relic blades are 2 handed and well. Relics. Old, powerful and often forged to commemorate great deeds or events. They're also usually a space marine weapon.
ah, size difference
i Martydom too clos to sanguinious
More attack speed means more stabbing
Power sword is 1 handed and turns the battery on for 1-3 slashes then you power it up again, relic blade is 2 handed and has a big battery for 20 powered slashes but overheat meter has to clear before powering again if it gets too hot
<@&1042950387478560878> new tidesmas?
Yea
Oh so it went well? 👍
<@&1042950387478560878>
Tide and time again?
the pickaxe really do be the best feeling ogryn melee huh
karsolas just sweeps in particular
Yeah Branx has a little delay between swings even when you're alternating to get the constant sweeps while Karsolas is fast as heck
I do like the hybrid moveset on Borovian though it's easy to get the wrong one out at a crucial time
Is anyone else so persnickety about their operative cosmetics they'll cycle through backpacks and tops so they won't totally clip through one another?
Yeah, the Karsolas just has the speed advantage and the push attack/special into heavy overhead isn't that much slower at killing heavier units than the branx
Might even be faster if the branx can't abuse its enormous cleave to batch clear stacked units
I just changed my psykers hair because it cut into one of her helmets.
Yeah I get it, I allow for small errors tho
I switched around some of my Vet's backpacks because of clipping.
I'm trying to assemble a vet with the most flasks possible
I'm wondering if I can theme all my Vet builds around their bionic leg.
I'm happier with my Ogryn's look. New face and some bushy sideburns.
Yeah some of the Ogryn pants are poofier than others and will clip through some of the coats so I've done it myself
I've got some swank new backpacks for my Ogryn and right now I'm trying to make sure they're not clipping through his belt pockets too bad.
got my first weapon mastery skin
nice
trying to figure out a good key for jump
I used shift in vermintide
shared jump/dodge keeps kicking my ass
for jetpack? i have it set to long press space, with dive as tap space
Jetpack?
My keyboard binding used to be dodge on space, crouch on ctrl, jump on alt cause I found myself dodging a lot more than jumping/vaulting
I am beginning to think I have something that attracts veteran shots directly into my body
Are you an ogyrn
I am a psyker with big sord
If you use brain burst you got the best enemy highlighter in the game, works better than veterans middle keystone
I have the uh, the funny knife rocks
I do love assail with empowered psionica
I just like all of them with empowered psionics
Assail is alright for sure. A comfy tool for just spamming out into a crowd, but also the aimed throws can be surprisingly effective at long ranges.
I mostly use it for the aimed throw because I uh-
- Sword
- Machine Pistol
I like empowered can you can just spam heavy throws constantly the entire mission without really using a ranged weapon ever
And the cleave talent with peril affects it too
So you can hit a silly number of enemies with it, a fun build for just point and click while holding right mouse button
I use B for jump and space for dodge with "always dodge" turned on
This man is your FRIEND. He fights UNDER DURESS.
Always dodge is pretty key to have on
What a good fit
I find it a shame some of the best cosmetics just completely hide the characters face
Or at least the hair
Good news, he has no hair
Face I can deal with not seeing since darktide face for me but hair I want to keep
this is on shock maul
a melee weapon
did they ctrl+v the ranged blessing or does it actually do that
The second part wouldn't do anything.
Like Lethal Proximity applies to grenades
Or uncanny applies to blades
Descriptions are wack
It looks like it's a control+V, haha
I wonder if it applies to blades of faith
Do blades really stagger, they kind of just kill most things if it hits the head
You'd probably needthe 30% impact node in middle to interrupt a rager, base knife impact is 5 and ragers need 5 stagger after reduction to get light staggered by an normal attack and the knives do killshot stagger, not melee stagger, so ragers need 10 and I think they get hit with additional ranged attack stagger reduction
Crushers are one of the enemies I think about that take multiple blades to stagger, everything less just like dies
Oh yeah that's a real possibility too, a crit knife to the head kills a rager dead
most on-hit blessings apply to blades of faith in the sense that if you threw them while holding a gun, it'll be back in your hands by the time of impact
Yeah turns out knives count as ranged attacks and benefit from the 25% ranged damage if you're close node to the point where they'll 1HKO a rager dead on weak spot hit up to 15m
Wow testing seems to show not only does it inherit Man-Stopper (infinite cleave on crit) from a shotgun it inherits No Respite (bonus damage on stagger)
Infinte cleavon knives?
Yeah the knife has to crit which doesn't happen much normally but if you have Scattershot on the shotgun at 5 stacks the knife seems to inherit that 60% crit boost which means big things comboed with Man-Stopper
Oh crit on knife i see
Goodness gracious, with 25% Fury, 5% zealot base crit, 60% scattershot 5 stacks, that's 90% crit rate on the knives, this is unfair
Thats how i feel about zealot as a main
Getting like easy 60% crit on anyhing with fury and scourge is just silly strong
Your on crit abilities are basically always on
Relic blade eats good with piety
Just did an auric lights-out, had to use the force greatsword like a sonar device for the team since none of them brought flashlights
The bolter is perfect. It's the mix of punchy, accurage, and crowd control I've been wanting.
trying to pick a horde mulcher melee for veteran
Try a Devil's Claw with a cleave blessing, chain sword also good
I have devil's claw full mastery so perchance
wrath and rampage sounds good
do chainswords still have that funny issue where if you hit elites while your cleave buff is active you won't saw them
I think they fixed that yeah
One thing people underestimate with devil's law is how much damage the parry does
You can safely tank bosses that won't grapple which isn't uncommon but being able to tank a daemonhost will dealing it good damage is unique
It's true, I fought the claw and the claw won
There's nothing funnier than parrying a crusher overhead to kill them
I can tell my teammates do not expect the devil's claw causeif there's a shout veteran or chorus zealot they just ability up so I don't get 1 shot standing still to the very obivious crusher overhead but later in the mission they see me one shot ragers in melee without swinging my sword and take crusher overheads without damage.
Then they're like, youre fine
If it odd one to get used to cause oyu have to be reactive and wait for an enemy to attack and not to heavy swing while waiting for a parry window
My melee Vet pretty much Claws full time for that reason yeah
If i'm not running force swords with deflector I take it on psyker as a defensive tool
the parry's one issue is hyperdense mixed hordes
Sometimes you're in a bad place where you're probably gonna be hit trying to smite
random ass poxwalker activating your parry just as a crusher cha cha slides through them with an overhead
On veteran at least that's a situation for grenades
there's very little you can do about them fusing together other than recognize this is not a good time to parry
Woe be upon you (500 shredder grenades)
I want to run a Veteran crew sometime where everybody maxes out shredders, that's about 40 shredders each in a 30 minute match and 160 total
now with ammo crate and random refills...
That's me with demolition team
At higher diff it procs a lot
And the times you need it most with hyper dense hordes you can probably yeet one in and get it back
Yeah like a random threat 5 has about 200 specials/Elites so that's about 10 free nades
I've learned to love shredders on vet
20% chance of double nade gets us past 200 shredders
add the lethal proximity bug
And Out for Blood makes shredders regain dumb amounts of toughness
Easily 200 toughness throwing into just a regular damnation horde
for peak meme put run n gun on the bolt and sprint as the grenade goes off
And procs on bleed ticks so you have slightly delayed strong toughness replenishment
Trip Report of turbo super buffed knives: they rule and also they're gone in like 3 seconds and so it's not a huge deal in practical play because it's tough to line all the buffs up at the right time
rah
went into a dif1 game to get the no health damage penance and right at the very end a teammate shot a burster in my face
This is a very 40k fate
I hope the mastery skin for the heavier laspistol changes the red dot
hmm yes pale gentle yellow
perfect reticule
that's the color of half the enemies and environments in the game you asshats
also the build I'm running rn is wonderful because I just waltz into rooms filled entirely with ranged enemies like an action hero
Is it Ghost+Between the Eyes because that combo rules
I don't really feel the need for suppression immunity but maybe it gets more severe in auric and above
I like it because suppression'll jiggle the hipfire reticle around and I do a lot of hipfire and if you're good you can work around it yeah
the build is this atm
the toughness DR is nice whenever I'm slow with reapplying ghost but could be exchanged for a lot more damage
but I don't feel that strapped for damage
Yeah laspistol struggles a little vs maniac, carapace, and infested and shredders and melee blast both
I'm still debating the second blessing, trying infernus now
but I think it's a lot less impactful on the MKX
Yeah it's more of a light heavy laspistol thing with Dumdum
I was running desperado before
but tbh that's mostly up vs shooters and shooters already Explode when I hit them with non-crits
I do a variant of this that grabs the middle tree rending since the brittleness on hit is tough to do with semi auto guns since it doesn't apply til the second hit, good tree overall
maybe concentrated fire for big guys? I'll give that a go
Yeah it's good when beating on a monstrosity with a melee or sustained fire because it's brittleness on builds that don't usually get it
If anything takes 5 shots or more to kill then the team comes out ahead
my other up to date vet build is weapon specialist with double barrel and I love that so much
welcome back, bounty hunter vermintide
There is a mod for custom gun attachments so you can basically put any sight on any gun
Cause some are clearly better than others
And I believe it let's you change the color of the holographic too
Also does scopes and other qol stuff like crouch animation that moves gun to the side so you can see more while crouched
is that vanilla compatible?
vanilla? its only client side
It's more of a Rocky Road than a vanilla
yeah but I dunno how the anticheat looks at mods this time around
The mod doesn't have a problem with anticheat, it occasionally crashed a bit after updates but it's pretty well kept
I don't bother with mods any more though, I got tired of toggling them every update
as long as it doesnt affect like server side stuff iirc fatshark is okay with basically all mods
Quality of life mods and the like are french vanilla.
I swapped some things on my laspistol and now my game crashes every time I try to re-enter the modded customization
so I'm stuck with that configuration until I figure out where it's stored on my PC so I can edit it in notepad or smth
😔
Oh nooo, that's tough
could've been worse, at least I didn't get stuck with the giant scope
Fatshark anticheat doesn't care about client side mods
They've made a statement client side mods that aren't cheating are fine, which is kind of vague but they're fine with spidey sense that gives you a color coded visual indicator for audio cues of enemies like a pox hound jumping
I'm guessing what they mean if like you managed an infinite aquilla or plasteel mod
Or 1 shot god mod ones in pub matches
The most popular Nexus mods have been on for a while with 0 reports of bans
I use them extensively and it's quick and easy and often the mod loader discord has day 1 versions for patches. I'm not like hounding the hour of a patch release and I usually play like 5 hours after a patch and the mod loader creators discord has something out
<@&1042950387478560878> darkdark
It's funny that I always know when 17 is asking to play cause I get the double ping
Sadly, I am headed to work, but I would love to catch you sometime
😭
I sleepin I sleepologize
i gotta say i love the levels of Job Satisfaction visible in the concept art for the rejects
I'm redoing all my trees now that I understand the perks more and lmao at how much coherency toughness nodes there are when that only occurs when you aren't fighting
It's an incredible rush to earn it, congratulations
I did it completely by accident 😄
base coherency radius is 8 meters and with the boosted aura it's 12m radius that daisy chains so if people opt into it you can have some pretty decent coverage
yeah, It completely suprised me !
What weapons were you using?
Now, on to the "no damage in a mission" penance
leveling my zealot now
eviscerator my beloved
what's the vibe check on crusher, btw
I'm staying away from it for now because it feels like a weapon that needs a good talent tree to kill
Did they nerf it at some point? I remember it being very good and hilarious when it came out
<@&1042950387478560878> videojames?
Sure
The explosion used to be bigger and stagger harder so you could permastun an entire crowd, now you have to knock them on their butts honestly
Skullcrusher and Trauma are the winners for Crusher if you don't need brittleness stacks because Trauma extends stagger time
It's for the best, but it was so funny how much you could knock people around on release
what difficulty do yall tend to play on
Colon
When I played more, generally 5 and sometimes Aurics (I had max level characters and I haven't played since the Havoc update came out)
Quickplay 5 is a jolly time for getting resources, with the occasional Auric or Havoc to keep things spicy
It took a while to get good at 5s, though, since I did quickplay 3 forever and worked through 4s
Oh man, going can to low level missions is so weird
I'm the zealot, I should be the one doing that
I'm like "where are all the enemies" lol
There's like 800 enemies on a threat 3, compared to 2000 on a threat 5, it's huge different
If you can group with people (and even if you can't tbh), you can probably push how early you do higher difficulties when leveling characters after the first
last match I had a situation where all 3 of my teammates went down in sequence at extreme corners of the current area and all died moments before I could pick them up
That sucks
I rescued them at the cost of some heart muscle damage and we won
they said gg
yeah
Peak 40k
Eh, though frustrating, if you win after that I think it's best to focus on how awesome you are over how bad they are
(if you don't win, I'd also try to do that but it's harder lol)
Yeah Darktide is a personal improvement thing and it's not worth brain energy to malign teammates win or lose
I made it to 9/15 of the "missions without being downed" before getting nabbed by a trapper and my team just sucking on their thumbs while a mob pummeled me to dust.
oh no I'm saying they better be saying gg after that
Oh lmao
I try to positively comment about people's efforts when they clutch a game after everyone else dies. It's really hard
in a 5 game everyone but our psyker died in the area with the elevators and batteries puzzle
psyker finished off the boss and fought through every gunner on the planet in something that looked more like a trepang montage than darktide gameplay
rescued us, said "I'm still shaking" and played in a visibly clouded way for the rest of the match
the game that trains your adrenal gland
Amazing
punt
Playing Stealth Zealot is not good for your heart cause of the number of times you'll be the person clutching
Very good at staying alive but like any other class if you're the last one up a small mistake will end you
And zealot has like many talents that lend it to be working alone so it's like pretty all on your game sense whether or not it happens
Chorus zealot is very chill assuming your teammates aren't actively trying to get themselves kill you make everyone so stupidly tanky and just have a good time making sure clutch situations never happen in the first place
Until you get trapper followed by 3 pox busters instantly killing you
Honestly I'm clutching on shield ogryn the most
Because the only thing that screws over a shield ogryn build is trappers
Psyker seems like the most difficult to clutch
I... huh?
why is this a 10 aq and golden pants penance when that's the entire point of the talent??
because it used to be 100%
when the talent was different
and it was actually kind of a challenge
Yea thunder hammer has it great during beasts of nurgle
So many one shots
Basically build that turned off the event
Most can, it's a matter of not getting killed
Which psyker is squishy
The tankiest psyker build isn't as tank as just generalist builds on other classes
zealot has no talents to make loading special ammo in the shotgun not suck, sad
the one present ain't it
thought brought to you: my fiddlings with playing slug shotgun vet as a poor man's bolt action rifle
Sainted Gunslinger is weird
on some guns, anything with a magazine and also the yeehaw revolver, it stays active until the whole magazine is reloaded
On shotguns and the zarona revolver, where they reload one at a time, you lose the buff the moment you interrupt your first reload
which is kind of inconsistent considering all the other reloads it does persist on are staggered as well
Luckily the slug shotgun is enough of a DMR to blast anything smaller than a gunner elite with the buck shot laser accurate so you only need the slug when you're taking on the big big targets
it's also funny how badly shotguns suck at low level
I imagine due to their multihit nature they had to be very careful with their damage bands so it's salt rounds until you get enough power on em
loud incorrect buzzer
look, when I meatshot a mob enemy, I expect him to die
they become great later on but the growing pains are one of a kind
Something that works well with shotguns is cleave
Makes it cut through a few more easily with say like double barrel on veteran to shoot a pox burster you can hear hidden behind mobs
oh, double barrel slaps out of the box
it's the combat shotguns that made me depressed every time I started a new class
Yea the cleave on crit blessing actually does quite a bit on double barrel
accatran combat shotgun rules
Donking enemies with the slug special round is very amusing to me. I prefer the incendiary model since mine's set up to burn down bosses though.
RIP the release version's literally go through walls infinite cleave on the fire breath rounds
Finally done mastering all psyker weapons, finished off with crit surge voidstrike staff and just left clicking the shit out of everything in sight
I wonder if there's a doc like the blessings guide out there somewhere that lists weapon specific secret stats
shotgun ADS shot pattern tightening, bolt pistol getting +5% crit chance in ADS after first shot, braced autoguns having more suppression when bracing,
You got sources on the second two? Source code for the shotguns has the different shotgun shell templates in scripts/settings/equipment/weapon_templates/shotguns/settings_templates/shotgun_shotshell_templates.lua and I'm not seeing the damage profiles for the bolt pistol having any crit buffs or the braced autos using a different damage profile hip vs zoom
I do talk about the shotguns a little in my Steam Guide since the ADS on Zarona and Agripinaa actually makes them lose cleave compared to the hip fire (which is why Man-Stopper is real nice)
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350231553
the crit chance mod was showing the increase on the bolt pistol with no talents or blessings activating but I could've missed something
That's pretty neat, I like grabbing me extra crit where I can
I assume it's this mod, apparently it says the game has faulty crit chance calculation on first shots with certain weapon where it only updates to the correct chance after the first shot.
Don't know if I'm missing out on better blessings but for fun I run cranial and head sink on relic blade to spam the power mode and both are basically always active
relic blade is pretty much set out of the box
all the blessings are kinda Bonus Plus
critical infinite cleave blades of faith, oh how I love you
I think I'm missing something regarding the draw of the incendiary shotgun
I forget, carapace and bulwark shield stops any cleave in general right?
ye
I think rumbler/kickback stock slaps might be an exception with that one blessing?
but I don't rember
flamers go right through it
I do t think carapace stops all cleave but it has a much higher modifier than other stuff making it deffo harder to cleave
The incendiary special itself is mostly useful against bulwarks/crushers and boss enemies. You can just hipfire the... fire, at them a few times and not even engage with their armor. For bosses you just keep dumping fire shells onto them and the logarithmic stacking really adds up to decent damage for little effort.
Otherwise you just use its fat monster normal shots to quote "nae nae on ragers, gunners, and snipers from across the room" end quote
sweeping hammers were a double edged sword in vermintide because they had a tendency to ragdoll still living enemies behind the backs of your team
but it doesn't feel as bad here and also they're not living for much longer
i instinctively "edgeclear" to this day lol
when I'm using a big sweeping weapon I turn left and right to finish off anybody knocked sideways
you ain't poking me in the ass today, slaverat!
I do enjoy controlling a horde by managing the sides.
fire shotgun shells have a lot of cleave so they jack up "number of targets hit on previous attack" crit chance on Scattershot, which feeds into bleed effects from Flechette
you stack a Lot of DoT onto crowds with the special shells and pumping them out is a self-reinforcing effect loop
I should try out a new ranged weapon on zealot that isn't a bolter, revolver, or flamer
Blades covers my quick ranged option and I'm still using relic blade to avoid crutching on dueling sword
Try a laspistol with ambuscade and raking fire blessing
If you're quick with shroudfield you can get two dead maulers shot in the back
I never really looked into autopistol or combat shotguns that wasn't the slug mark. I generally don't use ranged weapons as zealot except to pick off snipers or crusher packs, or just only flamer zealot.
the autopistol is extremely fun
I use the duckbill shotty
autopistol I kinda don't get
it's outclassed by other picks as a sidearm for a melee build and I can't come up with a really good build for it
Autopistol cleaves dudes good with pinning fire
autopistol is really good at shoving guys over
I had a match where a pox explosion tossed me down several levels of industrial walkways and my team went down shortly after
and they misunderstood the situation and went "why are you rushing" 😔
my hart, my sole
(the lower levels were towards the objective)
also I do not recommend fighting a horde with everything mixed in on a single flight of stairs
that was a theme of that day
another flight of stairs had us killing non stop for like 3 minutes without a dent in the wall of bodies
sycorax?
I don't remember the names of the maps
first was restarting the smelters iirc, second was servoskull scanning living quarters
I have All The Hours in vermintide and could guide you through the maps blindfolded but the only name I can pull out is athel yenlui
mental box missing
...same for difficulty levels now that we're talking about it
heresy this damnation that ok what is it in numbers
I don't remember the names of months in either language I speak actually
just techpriest me up already
It's slightly complicated and the shorthand is each threat level is 50% bigger than the last one, additive, so a threat 3 is 100% bigger than threat 1 and threat 4 50% bigger than 3 and then threat 5 is 100% more hp and dudes than threat 3 and 50% more than threat 4
I'm a fan of how unhinged I can look
this keeps happening
You're going to be so safe from those Nurgles
I had this a few days ago, fun as hell.
we lost a match when the last player alive ran away from one (1) mauler instead of reviving us
it was so funny to watch I'm not even mad
scooby doo chase music
tragically, running away from the one (1) mauler led directly to an elite ball
yes
I like the blue and tan version of the Mobian 53rd armors better.
Heresy is like the roughest for teammates
Heresy is the level where it becomes a burden to carry bad teammates and a struggle unless you're great and just able to solo heresy at the point. Damnation is like a knowledge barrier where if you don't know some game mechanics well you're not gonna win many matchea
I just play auric now
After getting 3 sub lvl 20s on a regular damnation I've elected not to touch normal difficulty
it was also funny because I killed everything around the other two when a cha cha slide overhead around the corner flattened me
so I smugly waited for a revive knowing I saved the run
and then they saw the lone mauler kicking my ribs and took off in the opposite direction
Amazing
They were like RIP, you did your service to the Emperor
They deemed you servitor before you were dead
another impressive moment I had was when I misjudged what geometry will shield me from a poxburster exploding and it threw me directly under a crusher overhead meant for another player
oh, or when I pushed a poxburster coming in through a monster closet door into a room where we were all huddled up on last health
and the door closed on it so it did a 360 bounceback trickshot
I wanna say I salute the audacity of the dev that put a spawner door in a 2x2m healstation room with one exit
Don't ever trust map geometry
Barrel have a care
is this what they call a god roll /s
also my zealot would be a lot stronger with either of the two abilities that aren't chorus but my way to play vermintide became "enable my less experienced friends to feel like they rock" and I'm kinda stuck in that (but I'm okay with that)
and I'm not going to dif5 until I replace my 200 power weapons because it's just depressing so that works with typical dif4 teammates
though when there's someone to revive and I pop chorus and the rest of the team tramples the dying one instead of using the window of fuckall threatening us
😩
Chorus is really strong overall and especially in pub games
It's harder to clutch a game where everyone is down with those abilities than prevent it with chorus sacrificing some offense
Even then chorus tougjness let's you survive hits most can't as it prevents overflow HP damage
And good DPS boost to the team with the right side talent
watching the 30 morbillion gunners that came out of a clown car above us get stunlocked for 7 seconds and then run for cover and do their whole routine of admiring rocks before setting up again (theoretically, as they're usually long dead) never gets old
Have youve ever pushed a monstrosity off a ledge with it yet
not quite but I bully them hard
It's very good on objectives
Outside of poorly tined hounds or mutants barreling through in the moment you're not pulsing then you basically keep any Melee hits from touching someone doing an objective without needing to clear space
You are the clear space for the duration
Which is powerful to have on demand
yeah I use it all the time as we get to an objective
and even the most shootiest of vets tend to get the idea and start hacking or we
Also if your teammates dumb you can use it before they run into crushers or are ignoring a sniper. I see someone trying to duel the crusher pack and a good 20% of the time I see their toughness vanish before the gold expired on the rest so that means that teammate would have been one shot by that overhead swing if they didn't have the gold toughness
Reviving someone is essentially half your team is not killing
For the time
Just making sure you're at full 4 out of 4 is just simply much better as we all make mistakes
using the safe period to kill instead of reviving is the better choice with good target priorities
however,
yes dear team the poxwalkers were the issue not the mauler that waited patiently to overhead you when you finally went for the revive
I think in games with random people it's the most reliable good zealot ability cause it prevents what usually ends higher level games
Someone gets downed by a mistake then barrels super fast, losing a quarter of your firepower then everyone downs afterwards doing a revive cause half the team is in an animation.
Although if you got another chorus zealot it is somewhat redundant
I like Zealot charge for the self immunity to ranged fire though you have to aim it good so you don't end the charge 5 feet in front of the gunner
The way it changes your POV is definitely cool but it makes it hard to gauge distance and cancel the charge
Like for relic blade ending the charge at the end of your weapons reach out far enough to be out of their reach
I want to groan every time I play with randoms and someone (me included) does CC stuff like smite psyker or relic zealot holding a batch of very dangerous enemies at bay and the randoms just... Don't.
Hmmm there's nine crushers all helplessly stunned, maybe we're being given an opportunity to kill then easily? Nah
The external sound effect from chant is really weak
its loud to the Zealot but it can be easy for other people to miss that it's happening.
Yea that's true, many things are silent like many elites that don't have spawn or specialist audio cues. I rely on seeing the gold toughness on me to know if someone used an ability
Maulers and crushers sneak up
If a rager doesn't angry shout for some reason it just silently sneaks up on you
Even worse is if it's an objective and player down and they just decide to run out of coherency away from everyone
What could you be possibly doing that isn't the objective or reviving during this chant there's only pox walkers in that direction
a bit ago I was playing on 4 and a pack of more ragers than I could count silently appeared out of nowhere
I still wonder what was that about
half a minute of killing nothing but ragers
Yea that's normal rager packs
Although allegedly they're supposed to yell loud and in packs you can hear them shout some angry words sometimes
Like a few ragers sound like they're yelling in lower case
Or when the two CC players stack their cc together like great now the enemy is really staggered and nobody's killing them to actually solve the problem in this window of opportunity
I like when it works out though
And when I notice the zealot has their flashy icon I remind myself that it's an excuse to do something securely, either picking someone up or just going full violence to clear out the carapace/maniac enemies
I've never seen such numbers in 5
They can get ridiculous sometimes
Sometimes a roamer pack of ragers gets caught up with normal horde ragers and the whole cricket team turns out
I want an in game operation to replace all the crusher rebars with whooshy rocket hammers or something
probably the biggest discrepancy between sound level/threat to me
maulers and ragers at least are supposed to be loud when attacking you, I don't even know what an attacking crusher sounds like
it's probably the sound system getting overloaded for ragers/maulers/maybe crushers tho tbh
when I slide a bunch of times in a row like 20%-30% of the slides don't make any noise
crushers have zero sound when winding up and only sound when impacting the ground
which is, as you may notice, completely fucking pointless
they're just about as threatening as snipers damage wise...
agony
I've also seen people complain about some of the sniper sounds only playing for one person when it can hit others but I'm usually too caught up in the heat of the moment to realize what's going on 🤔
question, which way enemies that were visually knocked over backwards are facing for backstab purposes
is backstab tied to a bone on the model or some nebulous facing disconnected from the body
https://imgur.com/qo5di29
I found this graphic EDIT (of ranged backstab)
so I'm assuming not a bone?
iirc some talents currently grant backstab damage but don't enable backstab (due to bugs) so be careful if you go to test it
wait no, wrong graphic, apparently ranged backstab is different
honestly this is jank enough for me to believe it
yeah sounds on brand
blunt trauma squad
Killing heretics with hammers
the blunt squad has failed 😔
nightmare rotation?
I'm playing rn if anyone is open and wants to squad (strike?) up
Just too many nails...
it was the ambush where a monster comes out after a bunch of waves
I revived/rescued everyone a few times but
- I misplayed
- I sorely felt the lack of stamina curios and weapon power and started to rethink my plan to not invest much in gear until level 30
note to self: try shotgun next time because my crusher was barely tickling the plague ogryn
ogryns are probably the least threatening boss possible but when the game started spawning waves of disablers to get my ass it was the nail in the coffin of my chances to keep rescuing the rest
Crusher doesn't have the best monstrosity DPS so using charge comboed with the powered strike is good chunks otherwise spamming lights or heavies is about the best
why are you not investing prior to level 30?
The fun thing about the new itemization system is if you like the feel of your favorite weapon you can just level it up as you go yeah
The old way was to save plasteel for 30 and now you can just use what you like and slam those blessings on
it's also not too expensive to level up lower level stuff
yeah blessings only cost ordo dockets now
I think the current play is generally to level up a random stats weapon while trying stuff out and then if you like it pivot to a minmaxed final stat spread once you see one you like
🤔 I think curios are still fairly expensive to improve, though
and if you go all the way to 500 a weapon will also drain a lot
Yeah the curios are still a chunk of plasteel and diamantine to lock in and are annoying to get the tippy top tier ones because you need 410 power or better on a stamina/health/toughness relic to top off the bonus while +1 wounds can be whatever power
yeah you need to check the shop a lot to get +3 stam and 17% toughness
so I'd also suggest settling for lower amounts and upgrading when you get lucky
It's only a 1% difference between a 16% toughness and a 17% toughness curio (or a 20% health vs 21% health) so yeah those ones aren't too bad to find in the 380-400 power range
those 2 toughness...
To set expectations, I have over 800 hours in darktide and don’t have maxed curios on every character so it can deffo take a while
A 15/16 toughness or 19/20 health will do you good
I have pretty close but also I've been checking all my chars at once from operative select with a mod
base game wastes so much time walking around and loading
melk can also occasionally have them
but that's probably a waste of time to check because it's like once a month he has anything useful
Melk shop owns pretty hard for long term savings at 30 because getting a 500 weapon saves a huge chunk of dockets and diamantine from cubing up a 320 weapon to 500; the curios are generally good enough in that he's got a lot of 380 stuff
If you're looking for a 60% dump stat it's easier to do Brunt though because Melk stuff tends to be well rounded in the 70s
🤔 I guess if you don't care about final stats
the main thing is his selection is so limited that it's unlikely the final upgrade will be that good
I like me mobility and a lot of the other popular dump stats and so I've generally ignored the min-maxing since it's like a 5% difference on most targets which a party aura makes up for in game
Generally though the thing to watch out for is you don't want to dump finesse or crowd control because those stack huge because they make crits bigger and you have better attack speed
I have friends that dumpstat cleave for more speed lol
the stats do weird things
it's often different on different weapons
ah no I just misremembered how penetration and stopping power are the same just for melee and ranged, sorry
cleave is really important
depends on the weapon
but for most yeah
the stat ranges are also weird because damage/penetration/stopping power are a really wide bracket
and other stats are like 0.11 - 0.14
(exaggerating)
then there's mobility which has speed (decent range) and dodges (the exact same at 60 and 80 for many weapons)
Yeah the extra dodge usually comes at 50% mobility which is why it's a popular stat to dump at 60%
I have one 17 toughness, two 21 health, and four +3 stamina (extra just for fun) on my zealot
Fatshark is like use more stamina
One day I will run +11 Stamina (2 from weapon, 9 from curios) and send a trip report
I don't know how I'd used up an extra 11 stamina
Psyker force sword deflector forever
I like other blessings more, but deflector is a fun power fantasy
I think it's far more common
I have like 6 of the damn things per char before I got two 17's
5 on psyker, 2 on zealot, 7 on vet
I just buy if I see it lol
weapons also have different base +staminas right? so you could optimize even further
plus talents
then put block efficency on and use kinetic deflection on psyker and block an entire pack of crushers and maulers
Getting a perfect block with a shock maul is still the funniest way to stop an overhead though the internal cooldown makes it tough to do vs a 6-pack of crushers
I always block and dodge for way longer than I need to because sometimes the tracking on it goes wild
I read about how shock maul used to be able to stun lock crowds by blocking
What surprises me is relic blade perfect block blessings which devils claw the parry and block weapon doesn't, I know it came out after with new blessings but they could redo the blessings eventually
Parry does get stamina free parry if you time it right
I think they don't want to make the devil parry too rewarding and like
I'm of two minds
devil parry is shockingly spammable and active over a huge period of time
it feels like it's pretty good as is
the weapon could use it because it's just Fine but if they were to buff I'd rather have a different kind of buff or a stacking/long lasting one on parry
so that it's not just all parry with a beating stick attached
i think my only beef with the weapon is that it is ass against armor but that's also one of the things the parry solves due to its monstrously high damage
and also not every melee weapon needs to be the power sword lol
so 🤷
it's my most used melee but even with the wonderful parry it has very stiff competition
knoif
dueling sword having the dodge refresh blessing on top of doing literally everything...
yeah idk what they were thinking giving the zealot duelling sword ngl
dueling sword nullifies every weapon yeah but it having access to that blessing insults devil claw extra hard
because why parry if just not be there
it was a pretty notably powerful melee weapon on a class that had maybe a tenth of the melee power that zealot has
tactical axe with agile vs devil claw is a much fairer competition (tac axes being a little sad aside)
Tac Axe with Headtaker and Shred is pretty buff on either Crit or Martyrdom Zealot
I think the sword could use some sort of target receives big ass brittleness on perfect parry blessing because it doesn't have set in stone blessings and that would fix its weakness on the condition you have the nerve to parry crushers
Devil's Claw gets access to Trauma, Wrath, Skullcrusher, and Hammerblow, all of which are super neat
I mean just instakilling maulers on a parry would be pretty nice
having weaknesses is good and all but perfect parries are a good condition and you can only parry one guy at a time
Shred and Wrath on melee Vet is enough to slam out enough brittleness that you can bonk a crusher if for some reason you don't want to use the Veteran's big guns
Long as you hit the torso and not the noggin you actually get pretty close on a crit
oh I was actually thinking rending on counterattack but it twisted into brittleness in my head by the time I got to typing
the voices
I could see an argument for brittleness being too good on a weapon that okay but w/e
Thunderous on chain axe or combat axe are both really really nice to have
yeah, but these two have way more defined weaknesses
I'm more about the blessings on the devils claw don't play with its unique mechanic really
I don't remember if it has any unique blessings
claw blessings list is YO WE HEARD YOU LIKE CLEAVE
Like most melees hace unique blessings, chain weapons,
It could be good as dueling sword strong but like if none of the blessings play into it's unique mechanics then it seems off to me still.
I bring up relic blade cause it has a block based blessing
playing into that mechanic is the way to buff it imo because it's not an infinitely scaling benefit so to speak
there's a physical limit to how much you get to parry that mobility doesn't have
Like it has many cleaves blessings, replace one with cleave on perfect block
eh, iunno, you'll have the other cleave blessings up anyway in any situation where your counter would benefit from it
