Betrayal, revolt, and armor-piercing revenge!

Dismeraldo bleeds. Weakened by its own corruption and its failures to act, the Emerald Republic has been taken over by the authoritarian Silver Paradise Party. Prime Minister Orazio Gallo’s military police, fascist foot soldiers, and corporate allies are attempting to reclaim Dismeraldo’s lost glory atop the bodies of their enemies.

The Crimson Sun Party is rallying trade unions, radical activists, and street fighters to defend their lives, fight for their freedom, and build a new future. You, pilot, are here to stride in solidarity and struggle for the new dawn.

Break Glass In Case Of Fire is a third party Lancer campaign module set on the world of Dismeraldo, where players will fight in the most pivotal battles of a planet-wide revolt. Covertly build a revolutionary army, secure critical strategic assets, and strike at the beating heart of fascist control to end a conflict that will send shockwaves across the galaxy.

Break Glass In Case Of Fire includes,

  • A massive 6 mission campaign complete with alternate missions
  • A new SitRep, Hit And Run, designed to simulate breakneck tactical strikes against critical targets
  • New Variant Frames and a Mech License (to be released in subsequent updates)
  • New Exotic Gear
  • Detailed background information on the planet of Dismeraldo, including its cultures, politics, major cities, and history
+Dossiers of NPCs from the Crimson Sun Party, Silver Paradise Party, Union Navy, Albatross, HORUS, and more to fill your campaign with dynamic and motivated characters pushed to the brink

Looks like lots of cool content in here! I like seeing a more extended take on an anti-fascist campaign after a more compact adventure as seen in Solstice Rain

A bit of feedback: As a GM, the first thing I look for in any campaign book or adventure is a high-level spoiler-filled overview of the current situation of the campaign as a whole, e.g. who are the bad guys, what are they doing, and why. Basically, I want to get a sense for what the primary conflict is going to be over the course of the whole campaign. Ideally it would be nice to ascertain this information early in the book, without having to read pages of history, lore, and setting information. For example, p17 of Dustgrave does a good job of this (I wish it came after p5) and Wallflower does an okay job of this (p16-17 under "The Situation On Arrival"). I feel like I'm having a hard time finding a similar section in this book that gives me, the GM, a basic overview of what's happening in this campaign from start to finish.

#

To be clear, I don't necessarily mean "here's what happens first, then this happens next in mission 2, etc."

More like, "This campaign centers around a conflict with these people. This is what these people are doing because of A, B, and C. They currently have a goal of doing X, and are going about it by way of Y and then Z."

#

I'm reasonably certain all that information exists in the text! It's just sometimes hard to find it at a glance

Updated Beta will be out on September 16th at the latest, and will include:

  1. filling in the few places of placeholder text
  2. the Mosaic Method sideplot and the Amalgam's Echo mission
  3. Normalized/completed NPC descriptions
  4. more exotic gear, and at least the VHI Saboteur Goblin alternate frame
  5. Mission and description sidebars, in addition to an early-book overview of the campaign

I don't even have revision 1 out the door yet and I've been struck by the Inspiration Demon

#

to write a campaign where the enemy faction are Earth Truthers

are you thinking of making an LCP?

Much to all checks count three of yous discontent the September update is being pushed back a week to the 23rd

#

As an apology I'm throwing in some exotic gear I had a great idea for: the Betelgeuse-Pattern Laser Cannon exotic superheavy, a normally subline battery weapon made available for mech use. If you shoot the same spaces for two consecutive turns you cause an explosion

#

that said, book edits are done, the Mosaic Method beats and mission is fully outlined and started, just need a few more evenings to finish up

elder anvil
#

the .lcp is forthcoming but still will eventually be out. Subsequent updates from here on out will include mostly edits, corrections, a new HORUS license and some minor adjustments to Beats and Combats as I either determine necessary or in response to player and/or GM feedback

November update should be out on 18th or 19th. This will be largely revisions and corrections, an expanded epilogue, and at last the .LCP

#

forgot I made this

elder anvil
#

This update includes: content corrections, modifications, and general stylistic normalization. Exotic Gear and the conditions necessary to acquire them are now fixed. Bookmarks in the pdf are far more in-depth and comprehensive. The epilogues have been expanded.

#

Subsequent update will have: the HORUS Vampire license, planetary, regional, city maps, and combat map sketches

So BGICOF's current version is more or less all the principle text I set out to include with the beta release. To that end, I'm wondering if there's anything that you, as a GM or Player, think is missing or needed. This extends to both narrative and mechanical parts of the campaign.

#

Or anything you're particularly curious about in regards to the larger setting, or if there's a particular mission detail that needs to be better explained, etc.

working on some bits

Vanzetti Heavy Industries flagship model of powered exoskeleton and personal protection system is the Etna series. Initially developed in 4900u, the Etna was comissioned by and subsequently used in the Emerald Republic Military as the standard issue hardsuit for all combat personnel. In step with galactic standards, the hardsuit has a sealed self contained life support system, atmospheric filtration and recycling capabilities, milspec communications suite, onboard computer and HUD, ballistic/energy/concussive protection, combined magnetic and Van Der Waals grip surfaces, and waste elimination systems. Given the ERM’s normally space-based operational portfolio, it also has enhanced radiation protection and an innovative, canister based ration pack system capable of being hot-swapped in vacuum.

The Etna also features a modular attachment and hardpoint system in-line with GMS specifications, guaranteeing usability throughout the galaxy.

The Etna receives decadal line updates and design improvements, and sees continual use to this day. The model gained interstellar prominence during the Nolad War, given that it was standard issue equipment for Dismeraldo’s relief force. After the Nolad War proved to be an especially bizarre conflict that gained a cult following of armchair generals, conflict otaku, occultists, and galactic power intelligence analysts, the out-system popularity of the Etna increased dramatically. VHI has had to expand its licensing allotments to meet the surprising demand, and while no state actors have requisitioned full orders the hardsuit it has become a niche collectors item in wider Union space.```
#
The Vesuvius is an unauthorized iteration of the Etna hardsuit, and the protection system of choice for the Crimson Sun cadres that can either acquire or produce them. Its origins are murky, but intelligence gathered by the Giondameri leads them to suspect that a politically motivated VHI engineer smuggled out the specifications of the Etna pattern and reworked them.

The Vesuvius hardsuit is less a single unified and self contained suit or armor and more a modular protection system. At the core of the Vesuvius hardsuit is a slim form-factor powered exoskeleton and compact power plant, upon which armor plates and auxiliary systems can be securely attached piecemeal. This modularity is exploited readily by the Crimson Sun, whose operatives can don the exoskeleton and hide it under baggy plainclothes, maneuver to an AO, swap the clothes for armor plating smuggled on-site, and then carry out an action in full kit.

While the Vesuvius’s standardized hardpoints can mount most models of armor plating, the in-code default assembly is that of a collection of aggressively angular deflection plates. When people think of the Vesuvius, they recall the sleek and predatory silhouette that assembly conveys.

While a bodyglove, life support system, helmet seal, and other components necessary for hazardous environment operations can be incorporated into the hardsuit, they are not default components and are rarely seen in the fighting on Dismeraldo’s surface.```
