As painfully John Darksoul Lancer as I could make him
Prodman is almost as powerful as Lancer
honestly id just do a “john lancer variant” and use the power of my statline to go 3032 and become an off hacker with my qctions
maybe
maybe?
I'd argue this isn't John Lancer because this is John Harrison
Maxed for heat and big gun
Thats like, Harrison The Thing
ipsn likes heat and beeg gan
No, IPS-N likes being tanky and that just includes tanking heat. Harrison is the faction with systems and mechs that do best when with high heat and 5 million heat self weapons
And Harrison has both the Barbarossa and Sherman for big gun
IPS-N only has one big gun mech and it's the Drake
And even then, to be more specific IPS-N big guns are focused on volume of fire while HA is focused on one massive shot, which is what the CPR is
(when I say Big Gun I mean superheavies)
agreed with Venator, IPS-N doesnt like heat, more just being a tank
i wouldnt really say that means "tanking heat"
they have pretty average heatcaps all around
The Tortuga is definitely a big gun mech. The DSAS is a Main that hits like a Heavy, and the Daisy Cutter hits like a Superheavy.
IPS-N is the Hull corp and I think the best example of that isn't in lancer tactics but: the kidd's smokestack heat sink straight up turns heat into damage once it eats enough of it
Thereby letting you tank heat by tanking health instead
It depends on the IPS-N chassis
Some are a lot more heat tanking (Vlad and the other 6 HC) than others (Blackbeard with a piddly 4 HC)
yo real quick question
when downloading the new Lancer Tactics version do i just replace all the files in the original or what
Since earlier versions are hard to get you might want to keep them, or at least the zip
But yes, you can just replace them and it should work fine
You can even put the new version in a different folder and it will also work fine - all the saves, pilots, maps and such are kept in a different (shared) location anyway
GMS works, there’s a new pck linked in the thread for it. Caliban crashes though, that’s right, and the same will probably be true of all of the mods that haven’t been specifically updated
(GavstarB has seemed busy lately, so it might be a while)
where can i find the gms stuff?
Let’s see if I can cross link like this..
Does that usefully show up for you? If not I can just reupload the file here, but that will take a bit longer
thank
Hey folks, is anyone else having an error where depletable resources and dead mechs don't refill if you fail and then restart a combat within a module?
Not sure if this is a known problem or I should report it as a bug >.>
That for sure sounds like a bug to report!
I'll see iffen I can replicate it then send it in! Thanks!
i have definitely experienced this
Just picked up the game from itch. Absolutely adoring the built in Basically Picrew.
The way you can change the shading style fucks IMMENSELY
I GM so being able to control an entire squad of goobers works well for me. My only complaint so far is that the AI blatantly cheats. They can shoot you through 3-4 size 3 buildings and have it only count as soft cover, even when the line of effect is completely blocked the whole way through.
I await, salivating at the mouth, for community made sprite assets to make more pilots with. This is basically a glorified dress-up game for me at this point lmao
It shouldn’t be able to do that. Do you have a screenshot or log? If you can’t see them, then they ought not to be able to see you
Sadly, at work.
Next time, so I can check, is there a way to go back and look at an opponent’s roll and see what was affecting it/see their LOS?
Feel free to go to the lancer tactics discord with a bug report if you get any save where you can prove the LoS or cover is wrong, it will be helpful.
Sadly, not easily - but there’s a line of sight checker in the current version, so you should be able to see whether they can see stuff. Lancer’s LoS is pretty permissive, wheras the cover rules are a lot more likely to apply, but if the buildings are both big and wide they should block…
also, what NPC / weapon was it?
sometimes Arcing can sneak up on you
It was an assault that shot my size 1 toku through a max height skyscraper it was behind.
Tbh it might just be a matter of “you were standing on the last space on that side of the building, so you can be shot by RAW even if, visually, there’s no way for the bullets to do that.”
Lancer has never cared whether it was visually possible for bullets to do anything. If you’re at the edge of a building you’re usually shootable. If something can see just the teeniest corner of your token you’re likely within LoS but probably have cover (hard cover if you’re adjacent).
There was also a bug with hide that wasn’t letting you hide when you should be able to, not sure if that’s fixed yet
You can shoot back in those cases, at least
So, basically, always assume that if I’m in range I can be hit, even if there’s several buildings in the way
Unless you use one to hide, or the LoS overlay says you can’t see that tile, then yeah. A 1 size mech standing behind a 1 wide, 3 high building has full LoS past it
Wack
Well, anyway
Game good. Gimme more hats to put on my Blorbos
The sprites for enemies/everests are fantastic, too
Can’t wait for more mech sprites. The alt iskanders FUCK immensely
I’m buying this game a second time when it’s out on steam lol
Gen’s spritework is great, yeah.
At the very least, things should be symmetrical so if the terrain's not blocking their LOS/shots, it won't for you either.
While I’m here, I should ask:
is there a way to barrage, snd then skirmish with the same weapon using Asura? I tried Asura before and after firing my first two shots, I couldn’t fire those mounts again,
Not in Lancer Tactics
But you can attack four times with four different weapons if available, instead, if that helps
I see! Noted.
The Duplicate Action Rule was always funny to me because there are infinitely more exceptions to it than there are situations where it applies.
So it makes sense that a computer game wouldn’t really be able to capture that in any way that wasn’t total spaghetti code
It was a design decision to not have barrage or skirmish as such, and just have everything use action points, and tie the non-repeat to the weapon and suchlike
Otherwise every time you attacked anything the game would have to ask “is this the start of a barrage?”
Or, alternatively, there’d be a barrage action you’d click and then it would ask which two weapons. Either of those options would be an interruption in game flow. I’m happy with the way it currently works, although I never got used to using Asura to double fire a heavy weapon (mostly I was the GM) so maybe that’s why :)
there's also a known issue where setpieces (like buildings) that break the height limit are ignored for line of sight and cover calculations, which can also cause weird behavior like this 🤔
but yeah, if you happen to see it again and can nab a save or screenshot, we can look into it!
I thiiiink that particular issue should be fixed on 0.7.4
Oh dang I'm only on 0.71, new LT updates!
Is there a tutorial on how to make scenarios?
