Preety much add a joystick device for piloting , it would work as a replacement for left/right , top/down tilting and reduce the amount of sliders.
Also would simplify building ships in general for new people since they dont need to add extra levers and wire them, also reduces the tedium.

(could also be used for turrets and other aiming devices)

I know that we're robots but operating 6 independent sliders to control a ship is strange. Def would be nice to combine them all into a single device

A couple of new joystick devices would be neat. Have one that is 2 axis and one that's 3 (up/down, left/right and in/out)

It wouldn't change much from a usability standpoint since it would be almost identical to just using 2 levers, but it would be a nice aesthetic thing and maybe make cockpits look more like cockpits
