It would be nice to have more shapes, such as diagonals (the same size / ship as Triangle Thrusters), or even halves. Not sure where this stands wit partial stacks of ore, but from what I understands the new inventory system would be able to handle that.

I thought that was already the plan, they mentioned awhile ago, five sizes. We are using the small containers right now:
