**Installation instructions: **

  1. Download the launcher_v1.7z file (or the latest posted version in this channel)
  2. Extract the 7z file with a decompression tool such as WinRar or 7zip. The password is "zombs" (without the quotes)
  3. Run the launcher.exe
  4. Accept the terms of use and privacy policy
  5. Press "Install"
  6. Press Select Folder to install in the default location (c:\users\name\AppData\Local\ZombsRoyaleio). The path you select will have ZombsRoyaleio appended to it
  7. Press "Play" when the launcher finishes installing the game

Important notes:

  • If your anti virus scanner (or Windows defender) reports an issue with the file, you will have to instruct it to allow the file in order to use the launcher.
  • The only official place to download the launcher is from this Discord channel.
  • The launcher is in ALPHA. Bugs are to be expected. Please report any issues in the #report-a-launcher-problem channel.

FAQ:
Q1: What does the repair button do?
A1: It checks the integrity of your ZR installation. If any missing or corrupted files are detected, new ones will be downloaded.

Q2: How do I uninstall the game?
A2: Delete the folder that you instructed the launcher to install the game into (Probably %LocalAppData%/ZombsRoyaleio).

Q3: Can I purchase gems on a Discord account yet?
A3: Not yet. I will work on fixing this in the near future.

Q4: What happened to the Discord client?
A4: We are no longer able to update the Discord client. You must download the launcher in order to play on the pc client.

Q5: Where can I download 7Zip?
A5: 7Zip can be downloaded from https://www.7-zip.org/download.html . Download the .msi 64-bit Windows x64 version of it. A direct link to the installer as of 7/30/22: https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z2201-x64.msi

Q6: Does the launcher run on Mac OSX?
A6: No, it does not currently run on Mac OSX.

Q7: Does the launcher run on Linux?
A7: It runs on Linux using Wine or Proton. This is not a supported configuration, however.

Q8: I don't see the "Extract To" context menu option of 7-zip. Why?
A8: If you are running Windows 11, you need to click "Show More Options" before you can see this option. If you still don't see it, you can try restarting your pc after installing 7zip

Q9: Which version of the launcher should I download?
A9: The latest version. Old versions remain available for download in case there are any unexpected bugs with newer versions.

Q10: If there is a newer version of the launcher, do I have to download it?
A10: If a launcher update is required, the launcher will display an error informing you that you need to update to a newer version. If you don't see this message then you don't need to update unless you want to. However, a newer version may be required at some point in the future, so it's recommended that you update to it anyway.

Q11: What's the in-game difference between the old Discord client and the new one downloaded by the launcher?
A11: There was no in-game difference. We uploaded the same builds to Discord and the launcher. The launcher's reason for existence is to download the existing client. Many of our users were not able to download the client from Discord because Discord deprecated store channel functionality. The Discord client is no longer available for download.

Q12: How do I update the game when using the launcher?
A12: The launcher automatically checks for game updates when you open it. If you press "play" before the launcher finishes checking for updates, the game will not update until you reopen the launcher and allow the check to complete. If for some reason, the update was not detected, you can click the repair button, which will force the launcher to check all files against the newest versions from our server.

Q13: When I try to download the launcher, I receive an error that says ERR_RESPONSE_HEADERS_MULTIPLE_CONTENT_DISPOSITION?
A13: If you receive this error, then you will have to download the launcher using Firefox instead of Chrome.
